Dog Posted 23 May, 2011 Share Posted 23 May, 2011 Has anyone sampled the new Stella Artois Cidre? Had a few tinnies yesterday with the vicar, and as a summer cider drinker I can honestly say it has to be probably the best cider out there. 4.5% and made from 50% apples. Bring on the zummer! anothersaintinsouthsea Posted 23 May, 2011 Share Posted 23 May, 2011 Not tasted it yet but assumed it would be along the lines of the lager - overpriced ****.

Hope it's not like that crap Bud which should be done under the Trades Descriptions Act for calling itself beer.
SuperMikey Posted 23 May, 2011 Share Posted 23 May, 2011 It is nice actually, it's more apple-y than most other ciders. Wasn't expecting too much when I saw it on the trial run but it's very nice. Might I recommend that you guys try Rekoderlig, a Swedish cider. 4.0% and very sweet, but tasty too. 3 for £5 in ASDA atm if i'm not mistaken. A lot of commercial cider is only about 30% apple, so this isn't too bad actually.

I'm guessing you haven't tried that many ciders overall then. May I recommend the following... Addlestones Kingstone Press Aspalls Cornish Rattler Old Rosie And although they are both quite commercially produced, Westons and Thatchers both produce an excellent range of ciders to suit all tastes. Have to be careful though cos it's so nice it's easy to drink it a little too quickly and end up forgetting the entire evening!

scotty Posted 23 May, 2011 Share Posted 23 May, 2011 Stowford Press is the best cider Ive ever had. Trouble is, theyve had a few faulty batches through recently, some of them taste like petrol, absolutely hideous, in fact I'm taking a case back to makro tomorrow. And the Ship had a duff couple of barrels that tasted the same.
