mightysaints Posted 22 May, 2011 Share Posted 22 May, 2011 Turns out that our stopcock in the pavement was leaking (news to us) and they just turned up to carry out a repair whilst we were at work. The workmanship was very poor, the tarmac they put down was not finnished and just looks a complete mess. Crap all over the road, pavement ,my drive and all over the front of the daughters car which is prooving hard to come off. Not happy about this. I contacted Southern water two weeks ago but suprise suprise have heard nothing back. Does anyone know who the civils contractor that carry out Southern Water work in the Bitterne area. Just want to give someone a piece of my mind.

Gingeletiss Posted 22 May, 2011 Share Posted 22 May, 2011 I suspect you now have a water meter, every house in Hampshire will have one by 2014, then they will all be activated. I heard a noise outside, and there was this bloke from Southern water, changing me over to a meter. I had one hell of a row with them over this, but it seems, that Labour changed the law 18 months ago, so the law about rated properties, is no longer applicable. OVER THE HILL Posted 22 May, 2011 Share Posted 22 May, 2011 They are working in the Spring Road and Middle Road area this week. There is a mobile customer display unit parked on the corner of Spring Road near the Tesco Express during weekdays.I suggest you speak to the men there, they seem to have nothing to do most of the time. Smirking_Saint Posted 22 May, 2011 Share Posted 22 May, 2011 Any works that require immediate excavation and reinstatement will not be filled in with proper tarmac, especially in Southampton, any planned works or emergency works will only be allowed to be 'open' for 3 days without the company being fined. For this reason most companies will just chuck temporary tarmac down as it is too much hassle getting a decent job done in such a small space of time. They should be back soon to do the proper tarmac job, as for them not phoneing back or paying attention to your complaints that is just wrong.
