Pulis released?

Yes I am THAT bored that I have put together a team made entirely of free transfers from that list. I predict this team would come 9th in the Championship. If nothing else, it's certainly got some experience. Apologies I've had to include some skates - I'm working on a shoestring here.

GK: Daryl Flahavan

RB: Stephen Wright

CB: Anthony Gardner

CB: Jonathan Fortune

LB: Jon Harley

LM: Jeremy Aliadiere

CM: Lee Carsley

CM: David Norris

RM: Therry Racon

CF: Benni McCarthy

CF: Nathan Ellington

Subs:

Darren Powell

Michael Brown

Jamie Clapham

Ivan Sproule

Rory Fallon

Kevin Lisbie

Ultra-impact sub (surprised Liverpool have let him go tbh) - Louie Soares

Ummmm, how did you come to the conclusion that team would come 9th in the Championship? Apart from Gardner, Norris, and Brown from the bench, not one of those have impressed in the Championship or higher for years. You've literally picked a side that would struggle in League One. Flahavan is a pretty average League One keeper at best. Stephen Wright was a laughing stock at Brentford. Harley the same at Notts County. Fortune released and hardly played for Charlton hence being released. Gardner is decent enough for a Championship side. Aliadiere is pretty decent to be fair, but sticking him left wing would only nullify any ability he does have. His problem though is wage demands. Therry Racon is seriously over rated. He failed to capitalise on his hype when Charlton were half decent, so once again an average League One player. Lee Carsley is about 50 now, and has been released by Coventry. Again he'd do a job in League One but only for about half a season. Norris is pretty decent and is the best player you've picked. Your front two is a laughing stock. Both had there days years ago. One still tries his best I believe got relegated with PNE last year? and the other has found a new love for food.

The team is horrific, if we sign any of them I'd be scared (Apart from maybe Norris and Gardner) as our ambition means we should be looking for better.

  • 2 months later...

I am delighted for Newport County that this is the case, hopefully they'll now pass him on the way down. Ironic that after my Pulis-dad's a Newport lad-based paranoia, he signs for Newport's last manager's new team.

Poorer Aldershot I'd say...

Holdsworth said, ".... Anthony gives us cover in two or three positions. He hasn't played enough football over the last four or five years through injury which is no fault of his own but I am really pleased with both of these signings."

See, all you people on here who were knocking him, the only reason 'young' Anthony didn't manage a single match for Saints in his 3 years was because he was injured. It wasn't his fault.

I'm amazed Pulis found another club, but Jake Thomson appears to still be unattached

Thomson was a much better player/prospect

I'd be sorry for Jake if he dropped out of the professional game

Hmm - I wonder what Jake's father does for a living...

Perhaps now some of you prats and morons on this site, will now leave the guy alone, what the poor guy ever did to receive the verbal abuse on this site god only knows.

Whatever your ability is as a player, there is no need for the prats and morons on this site to have taken the insults to such a personal and disgraceful level.

I agree with you...sometimes I think a few of the culprits on here should just bugger off

Personally I thought he got off lightly myself. Let's face it, if he'd actually managed to play some football the abuse could have been a whole lot worse.

He is not be a professional footballer and yet he has managed to get a fat pay cheque every week for the passed 9 years for doing absolutely nothing.

Nothing.

(Apart from not accepting that he wasn't going to make the grade and receiving pay for doing nothing). If he'd had any self-respect he'd have resigned, got a proper job and played footie part-time for his local non-league side.

IMHO Tony Pulis is one of the finest players we ever had. Some of his movement off the ball was pure genius. I for one will be sad to see him depart. Great talent, available now to other clubs.

It was indeed magic. Now you see him, now you don't. Or should that be 'you didn't see him, and now you won't'?

I take exception to you wishing to deny prats and morons the same opportunity as that taken by intelligent and hardworking people to express the opinion that rank nepotism should be discouraged.

That's what my intelligent, hardworking friend told me to say, anyway.
