Olympic tickets - money taken?

There will be 2nd chance sales soon enough, and a ticketing exchange set up once people realise they don't want to go to the Weightlifting anymore. Tickets will be easy enough to come by espicially for some of the "sports" nobody else is interested in.

Took a gamble and only applied for the big events (ceremonies, Sprint finals and veledrome finals). Knew it was unlikely I'd get any of them, but didn't want to apply for any others just in case I did get lucky (in which case I would have gone further into my overdraft than I already am). Stupid system.

  • 3 weeks later...

Had an email this saturday (18th) congratulating me on getting tickets , checked the bank and 600 quid has gone which I reckon are athletics tickets - nopt heard anything up until now so figured I got nothing , presume some cards didn't work and there must have been a 'virtual' queue of backups. Dead chuffed and my kids are over the moon - we get to go to the 100m qualifiers and see Usain!

applied for 2 grands worth of tickets spread across 6 different sports but not necessarily finals. Got absolutely zero, so after getting the kids excited for the past 3 years about their first ever trip to England and seeing the Olympics, we're left with the "2nd chance" application for events we're not interested in, or where the minimum price for tickets are in the hundreds of pounds each. Or we look for the thousands of "ticket packages" that will suddenly show up as you can be sure the big corporates got a shedload of tickets.

Still...on the bright side, it's probably saved me 20 grand all up - so what if the kids are going to be miserable for the next couple of years.

Confirmation e-mail today got the morning session for the Athletics on the 4th August - a collegue at work also had them out of the blue as well, so either they have released more tickets or as I said above some peoples Visas didn't work or have sufficient funds.

Get to see Jessica Ennis and Usain Bolt, kids chuffed

I've got the same, morning session on the 4th August. Like you say, should get to see some of the big names in athletics so should be good.
