Paul Chuckle Posted 16 May, 2011 Posted 16 May, 2011 .... Doing the Lech Poznan goal celebration which Man City fans have adopted so well. I see Swansea fans are doing it tonight poorly and Celtic done it at the weekend.
Paul Chuckle Posted 16 May, 2011 Author Posted 16 May, 2011 Agreed can't stand it!!! Every club will be doing it next season I reckon
Paul Chuckle Posted 16 May, 2011 Author Posted 16 May, 2011 And that bloody 'just can't get enough song' Can't clubs be original and come up with something different??? Keep hearing the Greame Swann cricket song at loads of games on tv at the moment as well.
scott_saints Posted 16 May, 2011 Posted 16 May, 2011 It's embarrasing that nearly every song that "catches on" in the football leagues is copied from United or Liverpool. Also, I will stop supporting Saints if we do the Poznan.
Simples Posted 16 May, 2011 Posted 16 May, 2011 I'm off to Poznan tomorrow. I'll tell them what we think of their celebrations!

Also, I will stop supporting Saints if we do the Poznan. That's a bit extreme, just for the record I don't like it over, it's "the Poznan" for a reason, it's theirs, leave it be.

Crab Lungs Posted 16 May, 2011 Posted 16 May, 2011 I agree, but I bet we won't be able to avoid any of this catching on next season: - Sloop John B (for everything, in various guises) - "I Just Can't Get Enough" - "Love Will Tear Us Apart" - Heartbeat theme tune And any other 80's song that has resurfaced over the past season. It's gonna happen, just got to decide the lyrics
saint_stevo Posted 16 May, 2011 Posted 16 May, 2011 someone give me an example of the 'just can't get enough' song
Saints67 Posted 16 May, 2011 Posted 16 May, 2011 I was impressed by the noise Stevenage were making the other night particularly a tune they did which was very repetitive consisting mostly of la la la la (or summat like that). Much better than turning your back on the team, linking arms and bouncing up and down!

Lighthouse Posted 16 May, 2011 Posted 16 May, 2011 It works when Lech Poznan do it, but it would be incredibly naff at most English grounds when they're half empty. If were going to 'do the Poznan' maybe we should start taking 5,000 ultras to our under 12 games. Personally I'd be happy if we could just stop singing Pompey fan on a string which seems to be sung exclusively by pwopa nawty 12 year olds who think they're 'ard. Although if I had to suggest an 80s song to bring back, I'm sure we'd all like a quick sing along to 'wake me up before you go go'.

(Not recorded at the Stevenage - Accrington game) I don't mind the Poznan, something a bit different anyway. Would rather that than music after we scored Edited 16 May, 2011 by Nexstar Clarification
Gambol2K9 Posted 16 May, 2011 Posted 16 May, 2011 The Poznan's great, wish it was ours! Don't want to see us copying tho

Much better than turning your back on the team, linking arms and bouncing up and down! Even that was s**t as well. Just another meaningless copy from another club/country, that said nothing about Stevenage as a club, their history, their players etc. The reason so many songs are copied from Man Utd and Liverpool are they're two of the only clubs that come up with decent, original songs, still makes me cringe though that we now seem to carbon copy every single United song.
latter day saint Posted 16 May, 2011 Posted 16 May, 2011 This? (Not recorded at the Stevenage - Accrington game) I don't mind the Poznan, something a bit different anyway. Would rather that than music after we scored that was ok for a bit but went on far to long! trying to work out why they had a flag with a smiley face on & another by it had "ACID" on it?
Golden Balls Posted 16 May, 2011 Posted 16 May, 2011 Looks quality but it's not ours. Why not come up with out own unique celebration?
Hatch Posted 16 May, 2011 Posted 16 May, 2011 Poznan belongs to ...Poznan. Citeh copied it, so they can carry on. Anyone else doing it means you like to finger your own mother.
rpb Posted 16 May, 2011 Posted 16 May, 2011 - Heartbeat theme tune And any other 80's song that has resurfaced over the past season. It's gonna happen, just got to decide the lyrics Do you mean 'Heartbeat' by Buddy Holly from 1958?
Saint Malc Posted 16 May, 2011 Posted 16 May, 2011 Next season I'd like to hear the 'we don't care about you....' song to the skate inbreds. That'd, mightily, p!ss the pikey mongs off :-)
Badger Posted 16 May, 2011 Posted 16 May, 2011 The "poznan" is utter b0ll0cks. Player scores, and the crowd turn their back and celebrate, what sort of f^ckwit came up with that ? City might enjoy it but hope it does not catch on at Saints. I agree, but I bet we won't be able to avoid any of this catching on next season: - Sloop John B (for everything, in various guises) - "I Just Can't Get Enough" - "Love Will Tear Us Apart" - Heartbeat theme tune And any other 80's song that has resurfaced over the past season. It's gonna happen, just got to decide the lyrics "sloop John B" is a bit tedious being recycled for everything. Not heard the other three at Saints though.

I think J is probably in the shower still singing it to himself today!
JRM Posted 16 May, 2011 Posted 16 May, 2011 I think J is probably in the shower still singing it to himself today! No I'm still singing; Oh Stevenage Is wonderful Oh Stevenage is wonderful It's full of tits, fanny and boro Oh Stevenage is wonderful
Saint Posted 16 May, 2011 Posted 16 May, 2011 God forbid there be an atmosphere at games. We should definitely just stick with the following: Do do do do Do do do do He plays on the left...... etc etc Other such rehashes I can't be bothered to type. The only good songs we have are Rickie's song and Fonte's song. And even Rickie's isn't original and Fonte's is pretty basic and dull. I love the Poznan. But it has to be done properly. City don't quite have it, but at least they're trying. It would look great if a whole stand did it. But who cares about that when we can hit the backboards and sing 'Oh when the Saints' all out of time.....
Saint-scooby Posted 16 May, 2011 Posted 16 May, 2011 All a bit ghey but I guess simple things please simple minds. oh and a few xx
hamster Posted 16 May, 2011 Posted 16 May, 2011 All we must do now is start practicing Tge Mexican Wave I Loooove a good Mexican wave I do.
benjii Posted 16 May, 2011 Posted 16 May, 2011 I think when we score we should all jump up on our seats, drop our pants, flop out our dongs and windmill our man meat like uber-spazs.

But who cares about that when we can hit the backboards and sing 'Oh when the Saints' all out of time..... Agree that some more imaginative songs would be welcome. Don't agree with you about the poznan crap though;when Saints score its euphoria time, and part of that is the spectacle of the teams response when they and the fans can go berserk - "together as one" . I'd rather see Guly,Lambert or Barnards celebration rather than turn away from the pitch to see the back end of some hairy arsed bastard with jeans that start slipping down as he and his row start jumping around,at about face height to my row...
The9 Posted 16 May, 2011 Posted 16 May, 2011 .... Doing the Lech Poznan goal celebration which Man City fans have adopted so well. I see Swansea fans are doing it tonight poorly and Celtic done it at the weekend. I love it and will do it on my own if necessary.
The9 Posted 16 May, 2011 Posted 16 May, 2011 How often is that ever sung these days? Haven't heard it more than once in 6 months personally.
saint_stevo Posted 16 May, 2011 Posted 16 May, 2011 I think we shpuld get our testicles out for a while when we score
saint-luco Posted 16 May, 2011 Posted 16 May, 2011 I think when we score we should all jump up on our seats, drop our pants, flop out our dongs and windmill our man meat like uber-spazs. mrs luco wants to know how she should celebrate
Lighthouse Posted 16 May, 2011 Posted 16 May, 2011 Get the whole ground doing 'armpit farts'. Childish I know but I'd imagine the sound of 20,000 people doing it at the same time would be something to behold. Or failing that, I like the nads out suggestion too.
Gigersaint Posted 16 May, 2011 Posted 16 May, 2011 I think it's an odd song... and I'm not really sure what to make of it. On one hand I think it seems a bit disrespectful turning your back on team and what is happening on the pitch as turning your back is usually associated with protests and dismay against a club, but on the other hand and as Celtic displayed, in numbers and in rhythm it can look... and struggling to find a suitable word here... so will say, quite a visual spectacle. So, for the want of continuing to see what is happening on our pitch (don't want to be frowned upon for not joining in!), and that I can't see we would have the same visual impact in numbers, I would prefer to see it stay with Celtic, Man City... and now Swansea who seem to be the domestic clubs who have adopted it. As others have already said, would much rather we came up with something of our own. (Maybe OWTSGMI will become our own again one day as we hopefully continue back up through the leagues... I'm sick of hearing other clubs sing their own renditions our song... I don't recall these before we dropped out of the top flight.)
Pilchards Posted 17 May, 2011 Posted 17 May, 2011 I don't get it! If I've done something amazing I would not expect someone to behave like that?
whelk Posted 17 May, 2011 Posted 17 May, 2011 Citeh are just as creative than Utd and fans. And poznan is hilarious for now when used by the club that played them. Beware of imitations - embarassing
Huntingdon Posted 17 May, 2011 Posted 17 May, 2011 It's a shame we haven't found suitable lyrics for 'The Saints are Coming' It's a great, repetitve song, and would be unique to us
St_Tel49 Posted 17 May, 2011 Posted 17 May, 2011 I think when we score we should all jump up on our seats, drop our pants, flop out our dongs and windmill our man meat like uber-spazs. Sexist - the women wouldn't be able to do it
Ken Tone Posted 17 May, 2011 Posted 17 May, 2011 It's a shame we haven't found suitable lyrics for 'The Saints are Coming' It's a great, repetitve song, and would be unique to us Agreed. Mind you I'm still sorry we never picked up on "the wheels on the bus go round and round" in honour of Nigel, which is the ideal foootball song: repetitive, unique, simple --and most importantly, totally baffling to the opposition fans.
