Relegation will hurt them hard, many of their better players will leave as they'll still want to play in the Premiership, and West Ham will have to conjure up a few miracle signings to be a force. Unlike some clubs like WBA, West Ham had invested for bigger things, next season could be a matter of consolidation for them. Blackpool will drop too, their last day decider of Man Utd (albeit at Old Trafford) echoes our last game in the Premiership, and they'll be joined by either Wigan or Birmingham, though I feel that will come down to goal difference. (Wigan's match at Stoke though is winable, Stoke have nothing to play for now, Tottenham, Brum's opponents, do).

Gold & Sullivan will be eyeing that deal and will do whatever is need to get through next season, hell I reckon they'd even consider the Dutch experiment. Simply survive, make bucks and of course, to hell with the future of the club. Bad day to be a Hammers fan, but serves them right (like the few) for believing zillions on big names was the way to go under their equally creative (to poopey's) Icelandic owners.

With a bit of luck if Blackpool and Wigan come down as well, we could have a trio of weak relegated clubs, could be a good season for a team to get promoted to the NPC from League 1. Can't see any of those three being runaway winners, even if Blackpool and Wigan are not broke. Evidently Grant looked close to tears when he was being interviewed post match today, question is how can anyone tell, the bloke is the most miserable looking git I've ever seen, including me. Still think its a bit indecent sacking someone with a game to go, what is the point? Two managers called Kee/an in the Prem League next week.

Couldn't think of a nicer bunch of people than gold, sullivan and brady to get relegated and lose a personal fortune. My heart weeps for the ****s. Like others have pointed out, Brum and their dull, no-nonsense football will be a greater threat than West Ham.

While they're going to pose a threat, they won't be the dominant force that a lot of people think they will.

Agree he's got a dignity about how he does things - one reason I'm v.happy hodgson turned things around at WBA and would like to see Brian McDermott take Reading up. Don't think martinez will ever be more than an upper championship manager, however.

BUT What bunch of undignified clowns sack their manager within an hour of the final whistle, needing to borrow an office at someone else's ground to do it? How about saying, we will sit down tomorrow morning when the dust has settled and see where we go from here - then sack him in a professional way. Rather than a shrewd business decision, which it would have been in January, it now looks like a spoilt child has reacted badly and hit out at the nearest grown up. Doesn't reflect well on West Ham - lacks any class. They are just a bunch of cockney porn barons, and as for Brady advising young people on business - yeah right love, you know what you're doing don't you! Cue calls from the few to bring the great coaching expert uncle Avram back as DoF....

Would that bring unity and togetherness in the dressing-room? Would be quite a change in direction for the club after having Avram Grant as manager!
