NickG Posted 14 May, 2011 Posted 14 May, 2011 good news but kind of knew he was here for long time anyway!
trousers Posted 14 May, 2011 Posted 14 May, 2011 (edited) Good news, obviously, but the usual hyperbole from Mr Sibley then...tut tut ;-) More to come throughout the summer...(both hyperbole and good news, that is) :-) Edited 14 May, 2011 by trousers
ChrisPY Posted 14 May, 2011 Posted 14 May, 2011 Here for 3 months and gets an extension. Shows the effect he's had on the whole club and the faith Nicola has in him.
saint lard Posted 14 May, 2011 Posted 14 May, 2011 This will end up costing us a packet when it goes t1ts up.
NickG Posted 14 May, 2011 Posted 14 May, 2011 quick contract improvement? Low initial contract to keep compensation to former club low, but with promise of review after 3 months?
JustMike Posted 14 May, 2011 Posted 14 May, 2011 Here for 3 months and gets an extension. Shows the effect he's had on the whole club and the faith Nicola has in him. 3??
NickG Posted 14 May, 2011 Posted 14 May, 2011 This will end up costing us a packet when it goes t1ts up. just be pleased that Cortese got big decision very right.
jimmysaint7 Posted 14 May, 2011 Posted 14 May, 2011 Quality how some seem to think this ain't big news, one poster even said boring!!! Some people on here amaze me,I'm chuffed to bits with the news
RedAndWhite91 Posted 14 May, 2011 Posted 14 May, 2011 Yeah, it is great news, but I think a fair few are annoyed at how that Jordan Sibley built it up to be the biggest news since Kevin Keegan signing, when actually it's just your run-of-the-mill contract extension.
Windmill Arm 2 Posted 14 May, 2011 Posted 14 May, 2011 ADKINS OUT, WE SHOULD HAVE GOT O'NEILL.........I can hear them now LOL!!!
Saint_clark Posted 14 May, 2011 Posted 14 May, 2011 Yeah, it is great news, but I think a fair few are annoyed at how that Jordan Sibley built it up to be the biggest news since Kevin Keegan signing, when actually it's just your run-of-the-mill contract extension. No he didn't.
View From The Top Posted 14 May, 2011 Posted 14 May, 2011 This will end up costing us a packet when it goes t1ts up. Just a pity he was such an uninspiring choice and couldn't get the players to play for him.
Give it to Ron Posted 14 May, 2011 Posted 14 May, 2011 This will end up costing us a packet when it goes t1ts up. Thats it keep up the good work. Some real gems this year about Adkins from you.
RedAndWhite91 Posted 14 May, 2011 Posted 14 May, 2011 No he didn't. Ok, maybe that was the fans going into rumour overdrive. Are you on twitter? Was mental on there last night. Michael Owen was signing apparently.
Saint_Ash Posted 14 May, 2011 Posted 14 May, 2011 This will end up costing us a packet when it goes t1ts up. Can't help yourself can you, Adkins gets a new contract due to excellent work and you say it's going to go t!ts up. Not if but when, you're a useless excuse for a fan
Wes Tender Posted 14 May, 2011 Posted 14 May, 2011 It will make a change if we start the new season with the same manager that we ended the previous one with. I hope that Adkins is here for many years to come, that this is the dawn of a new age of stability and upwards progress. We'll just have to wait and see.
manji Posted 14 May, 2011 Posted 14 May, 2011 Shocking news particularly as he lost the dressing room.........................
saint lard Posted 14 May, 2011 Posted 14 May, 2011 (edited) Just a pity he was such an uninspiring choice and couldn't get the players to play for him. Just onemore time for those hard of hearing,or just plain thick, players initially and on occasions seemed unable to put into practice what was being instructed to them, and what was being preached in the media by Adkins. What he was telling us and the media about the style he wanted to adopt was very rarely seen on the pitch. Mother Theresa should have got this squad promoted, especially when inheriting such a strong squad at that. Very well executed by Adkins, but the fawning over him of late has been nauseating, the real work begins from now. Let's just hope he sees out the contract and continues to have success, but it won't come as easy as it did this past season. Edited 14 May, 2011 by saint lard
beatlesaint Posted 14 May, 2011 Posted 14 May, 2011 Pleased about that, Adkins seems a really decent man and it appears that the players like and respect him. My only reservation is wether he would be good enough if and when we get back to the Premiership. Only time will tell, I for one hope he is cos i have no problem with him driving this bus for many years to come.
Liquidshokk Posted 14 May, 2011 Posted 14 May, 2011 Kept secret, yes. But BEST kept secret?? It's not as if anyone would have been desperately digging to find out if his contracts going to be extended! Makes it slightly easier to keep it secret. Good news though and congrats to him.
Toomer Posted 14 May, 2011 Posted 14 May, 2011 That all very good and I am pleased but like most of us I would like to know how much my season ticket is going to cost!
saint lard Posted 14 May, 2011 Posted 14 May, 2011 Can't help yourself can you, Adkins gets a new contract due to excellent work and you say it's going to go t!ts up. Not if but when, you're a useless excuse for a fan Your contribution is invaluable to the debate.well done. Find the ignore button and press it fella. Do we all have to have the same opinion in your world?
jimmysaint7 Posted 14 May, 2011 Posted 14 May, 2011 Ok, maybe that was the fans going into rumour overdrive. Are you on twitter? Was mental on there last night. Michael Owen was signing apparently. To be fair it is a little sad of people to sit in front of twitter all night on a Friday night! Jordan sublet said there would be big news this morning(there was no over the top post from him). Adkins has signed a new contract which is big news in my eyes as it means a summer of stability management wise. He totally deserves it too
Block 5 Posted 14 May, 2011 Posted 14 May, 2011 Great news. NA has proved that he has what it takes to bring success. Locking him in to a long term contract makes perfect sense; for too long we have had a revolving door policy and that has been a major contributing factor to our instability. Short term contracts and high pressure to get results do not create a stable foundation on which to build. With the right financial backing I see no reason why the 'vision' for Premier league football (and more) should not be achievable under NA. Well done Nicola.
saint lard Posted 14 May, 2011 Posted 14 May, 2011 Thats it keep up the good work. Some real gems this year about Adkins from you. I will remain consistant in my views and await to be proven wrong.
CalneSaint Posted 14 May, 2011 Posted 14 May, 2011 :quality how some seem to think this ain't big news, one poster even said boring!!! Some people on here amaze me,i'm chuffed to bits with the news +1:d
Give it to Ron Posted 14 May, 2011 Posted 14 May, 2011 I will remain consistant in my views and await to be proven wrong. Just like last year then you Alpine wannabe
Johnny Shearer Posted 14 May, 2011 Posted 14 May, 2011 Just onemore time for those hard of hearing,or just plain thick, players initially and on occasions seemed unable to put into practice what was being instructed to them, and what was being preached in the media by Adkins. Very well executed by Adkins, but the fawning over him of late has been nauseating, the real work begins from now. Let's just hope he sees out the contract and continues to have success, but it won't come as easy as it did this past season. Highly doubt it. Yes promotion was the minimum required and expected by most but its a number of factors which contribute to achieving the aim. There are plenty of examples where having the best squad/team doesn't equate to winning.
View From The Top Posted 14 May, 2011 Posted 14 May, 2011 Just one more time for those hard of hearing, I was proven to be wrong over and over again and made myself look a small minded fool I've corrected it for you.
Gingeletiss Posted 14 May, 2011 Posted 14 May, 2011 This will end up costing us a packet when it goes t1ts up. I see Mr 'I don't like Adkins' has spoken, you're such a joy to read on here.......NOT!

In league one with a substantially stronger squad and resources than our rivals. Let's see how he does on a slightly more even playing field in the forthcoming season before claming him to be the messiah. Feet on the ground people, please.
saintscottofthenortham Posted 14 May, 2011 Posted 14 May, 2011 Great news. Shows how much faith NC has in NA for him to offer him such a long contract back in January. Some want to focus on the negative and say how it will cost a fortune if it goes wrong... More importantly is that if we start flying high in the Championship with the sort of football I watched Scunny produce under NA, then he is going to be a very sought after Manager and this long contract will have us in a prime position to keep hold of our man. Good news indeed.

Saints foreva Posted 14 May, 2011 Posted 14 May, 2011 Saint Lard is a massive bore. He has been on Adkins back since day one.
saint lard Posted 14 May, 2011 Posted 14 May, 2011 (edited) I see Mr 'I don't like Adkins' has spoken, you're such a joy to read on here.......NOT! It has nothing to do with supposedly not liking Adkins at all,FFS. Just because i don't pee my pants over everything he says/does. However if his run of bringing in some modicum of success continues into next season i may well become a tad moist. Edited 14 May, 2011 by saint lard
Gingeletiss Posted 14 May, 2011 Posted 14 May, 2011 For Lard, who may not of read the article... Since his arrival, Adkins has transformed the team on the pitch, taking a club that was languishing near the foot of the table, and producing a side capable of attacking, free flowing football with the resilience and patience required to beat teams that raise their game when playing Southampton. The side lost just once at St. Mary's in the league following his appointment, with the spirit created in the team reflected by the fantastic continued support of the fans that have backed them so well home and away this season, which culminated in last weekend's 3-1 win over Walsall in front of over 31,000 supporters.
saintscottofthenortham Posted 14 May, 2011 Posted 14 May, 2011 It has nothing to do with supposedly not liking Adkins at all,FFS. Just because i don't pee my pants over everything he says/does. You need to get on the bus. We all get little puffy on's and everything when there is a new interview with NA on Saints Player. Do you still only get your w*nk sock out for the AP interviews?
RedAndWhite91 Posted 14 May, 2011 Posted 14 May, 2011 To be fair it is a little sad of people to sit in front of twitter all night on a Friday night! He totally deserves it too Yeah I'm not arguing that it's not a good thing, it is, I rate Adkins, but people over speculated as to what the big news would be. I came home from football to the rumours that we were signing Michael Owen FFS! I guess if people build themselves up to expect 'news' like that then they would be disappointed. FWIW I also think a lot of people would have liked to have heard news about season ticket prices. I personally thought it was going to be about that new Director of European Recruitment.
Avenue Saint Posted 14 May, 2011 Posted 14 May, 2011 Been watching saints since early 90's and it feels good to be a saint right now!
