Police said the crash appeared to have happened in heavy, slow traffic caused by an accident two hours earlier on the same stretch of motorway. Mr Myers, a former Widnes and Great Britain Rugby League player, was killed in the earlier accident between Junction 17 at Sandbach and Junction 18 for Holmes Chapel

What a dreadful, awful night :(

Gotta be looked at, how there can be two fatal accidents in the same strecth within 24 hours of each other!

Seeing as lorry driver has been arrested I would hazard a guess that he has ploughed into the back of slow moving traffic.

Not paying attention, on phone, ****ed, tired, who knows...

That was one of the accidents, however there was another one. My point was is there a link or is it just plain bad luck coincidence that there were two fatalities on the same stretch of motorway within 24 hours?

That stretch of motorway is very bad. There are always crashes there, though not all fatalities. It is awful. I get on there to pick my kids up and the amount of times there are crashes is madness. I just don't get it as it's not anything tricky to negotiate.

Listening to the traffic reports on the radio every morning, it seems to me that there are certain parts of some motorways that are often closed because of accidents.

The M40 around Bicester regularly (almost daily it seems) has problems and there are loads more. I wonder if accident investigators ever ask themselves 'why?'

My best mates dad was killed by a skate lorry driver, the skate was on his mobile suddenly slowed down and my mates dad went up the back of his lorry.

Harsh to say it, but they are both at fault. The lorry driver should not have been on his phone and that probably meant he read something wrong on the road. However, he could equally have had to react suddenly to a problem when not on a phone and any following vehicles should be able to pull up if he does.

Will all due respect MB, there's no lorry on the planet that will pull up faster than a car so your mate's dad must've also been distracted. Sad way to go though.

Awful awful tragedy. Cant begin to imagine what the relatives of the family are going through.

I have a recurring nightmare, where I am driving down the A303, involved in an accident and car bursts into flames. I get out, but although I dont see them in my dream, I know my 3 boys are still in the car. It is so vivid that I know exactly where the accident happens and I do everything I can to avoid driving on that stretch. The

Driving on the M4 everyday, I see so many idiots taking chances all because of the rush to get to work. Then there are the foriegn lorry drivers, not sure why, may be because they are left hand drive, but they always seem to be hugging the right side of the lane almost travelling into the next lane.
