Championship/ League One Play Offs

No sympathy TBH for Bompey whatsoever.

They had a host of chances this year, but they blew it on the pitch, their fans acted like c*cks & Mitchell more than screwed a bunch of decisions up. They will struggle to stay up next year IMHO.

But well done to Udders, they deserved to get through, had a damned good run and were only beaten by a miracle run by us.

Exactly, lol at that c*ck Mitchell and to those Bompey fans who were crowing at being above us in the league back in December, shhhhhh.

Any other result would have been a disgrace. Huddersfield finished 16 points ahead of Bournemouth. Therefore over the course of a season they've been a better team. That's what the league is for.

If a team finished 16 points adrift at the bottom of the league there's no way they deserve to stay up based on 3 further games of football, so why should it be any different at the top of the table? The playoffs should be scrapped or at best involve teams from the top of one league playing the teams from the bottom of the league above.

Sadly money rules the game these days so it will never happen.

There is a fairer way of doing it I've seen someone else suggest, that still gives the league the same number of games for the money.

5th plays 6th over two legs, with 5th placed team at home 2nd.

The winner of that plays the 4th placed team over two legs, with 4th placed team home 2nd.

The winner of that plays 3rd at a neutral ground in a winner takes all match.

This way the teams finishing higher actually get an advantage for their higher position in the league.

I think it was suggested on some other forum that the playoffs should be maintained but modified so that if a game remains level after 180 mins, the team that finished highest in the league would go through - no need for extra time or pens. This would pay greater respect to league position and arguably make games more exciting while keeping the playoff format for the neutrals and the money men. Think its a very interesting proposal.

Massive credit to the Bournemouth players, incredible character but no sympathy for the Bompey fans, f()ck them. Imagine if that was us, they'd be loving it... in fact, wallowing in it. As for us, I don't want to "gloat" over them, just think "f()ck 'em"

Mmmm no...Giving a team the opportunity to not win a game but still qualify does not make games more exciting.

Pls stop calling them Bompey - it is embarassing

It's embarrassing, childish and rather silly. How well would we have done on the resources they have (be honest) All clubs have their share of plonkers, I sit near some at SMS! Let's congratulate them on their effort and ignore the minority of their fans burnt up with envy.

This - thank you. No more thinking time to be wasted...nothing to see - bye:D

Halle-effing-leuyah...well summed up.

What I have been trying to say all season. Yes CRAB LUNGS and DRONSKISAINT and your ilk - just because a few keyboard warriors from our club get up your nose - it doesn't mean we all think the same!

Very proud of the team and fans last night, got back at 2am luckily as I'm an exile...played well, but plainly obvious we need a bit more physicality in the team, like yourselves, Hudd and Brighton (to a slightly lesser degree) have. Hudd will have to improve alot next year IMO if they do go up..

Thanks for the positive comments - apologies for the lack of an easy 6 points next year - at least you can have your 'proper' derby back!!

I don't see anything wrong with Bompey. Everything you said about them as a team is true they've done very well considering what they've had to deal with and they play some nice football (though never against us it seems).

But come on it's just a bit of leg pulling no worse than them calling us stains or such like.

Am also watching this game with interest as the thing with me is that I wouldn't mind playing Peterboro next season as I've haven't been to Peterboro's ground yet as I've already done MK Dons already but I can see with Peterboro winning already altho it's 3-3 on agg that Peterboro will do it and go to the final at Old Trafford and play Huddersfield but we'l see!

I wonder what will happen to Peterboro's star players like Mackail-Smith, Boyd, Tomlin, Lewis to name a few as whether there'l stay at Peterboro or not as if they don't go up I personally think that we should make a move for a few of them like Mackail-Smith etc but we'l see!

what a shocking piece of refereeing to disallow that third goal, if that costs them Ferguson will have something to moan about.

On the other hand Im quite happy the player diving after no contact screwed the goal up.

Well yes, but that only makes it worse, duped by the dive, then gave a free kick to Peterborough, denying them a goal. All he had to do was let play go on for a couple for seconds.

Much as I love Lambert & Co he has been the best player in this league by a country mile and could easily see a prem club take him

Certanly not the best player in the League no, probably the most noticeable though. The best player in the League certainly plays for us, there are 3 or 4 potential candidates, depends on how you value footballers really.
