sir_fred Posted 10 May, 2011 Posted 10 May, 2011 I really enjoyed watching Morgan bossing the midfield Saturday. He is also a player who I think only will raise his game playing in the Championship. I really rate Hammond as a captain and as a player but I do doubt that he will be a regular on the bus when we reach the end stop, the premiership.
RedAndWhite91 Posted 10 May, 2011 Posted 10 May, 2011 I think Morgan is a quality player, and will not need to raise his game much to fit in in the Championship. Don't know much about his leadership qualities, but I'm sure he will be a mainstay in the team for years to come (if he stays). Also a nice bloke, met him outside Oceana at 2.30am once.
Gambol2K9 Posted 10 May, 2011 Posted 10 May, 2011 Personally i see Fonte taking the armband next season
Matthew Le God Posted 10 May, 2011 Posted 10 May, 2011 Don't know much about his leadership qualities. He has been the captain of French international youth teams in the past, which suggests he has something going for him leadership wise. In any case, Jose Fonte would be the obvious next in line in the eventuality of Hammond not playing.

Do agree about Fonte, he'd certainly have my backing for that role.
Hopkins Posted 10 May, 2011 Posted 10 May, 2011 Still baffles me how some people don't rate him. By far the best central midfielder in this league I have seen over two seasons.
KMondo Posted 11 May, 2011 Posted 11 May, 2011 Would like to see it, but I have a feeling he'll be back in France before too long.
saint simes Posted 11 May, 2011 Posted 11 May, 2011 Would like to see it, but I have a feeling he'll be back in France before too long. Was talking to a French waiter in a bar on Poole Quay recently who claimed to be an acquaintance of Morgan and Radhi, seemed to be a big Saints fan. He said that Morgan had told him that he wanted to go back to France, the suggestion being he was homesick. No idea if its true or when he was supposed to have said it, but left us feeling a bit despondent about his Saints future. However his recent interview seemed a lot more positive so who knows! Incidentally there was a Cherries fan in the bar too who was getting the hump about the Saints banter, when we left I wished them well in the play offs to which he replied "Yeah, we'll batter you in the final scummer" or words to that effect, well if you ever read this mate, my reply now is the same as it was then!
sussexsaint Posted 11 May, 2011 Posted 11 May, 2011 Still baffles me how some people don't rate him. By far the best central midfielder in this league I have seen over two seasons. Agree, think he will shine even more against better quality opposition as well
ladysaint Posted 11 May, 2011 Posted 11 May, 2011 Hope Morgan stays by far the best midfield player we have also a good ball winner/tackler.
Charlie Wayman Posted 11 May, 2011 Posted 11 May, 2011 Years ago when most were poo-pooing this player i was almost alone in aruing that he was the one real piece of class we had on uour books and wold be french captain one day and we;d do well to keep him out of the clutches of the gooners. 3 years on more of you seem to have woken up! Don't worry about losing chambo, worry about losing this guy!
JackFrost Posted 11 May, 2011 Posted 11 May, 2011 Can't believe he's still only 21. One of the few things Poortvliet got right
Window Cleaner Posted 11 May, 2011 Posted 11 May, 2011 Can't believe he's still only 21. One of the few things Poortvliet got right Nothing to do with Poortvliet, it was a thing between Rupert and Georges Prost. Still a bit worried about Morgan's future with us myself,I still think that NA sees Hammond and Chaplow as his best CM pair and that if we bring in someone else it will be to partner Hammond. Don't like to knock NA after the great job he's done but I can see him getting this one wrong.

Both Chaplow and Hammond look 10x the player when playing alongside Morgan, and I am sure NA sees it the same way.

Don't worry about losing chambo, worry about losing this guy!you weren't alone when rating him, maybe the keeping him from Arsenal part. Perhaps it would be a good time to buy a `play mate' from France that might help persuade him to stay - and I'm not talking about a Chala.

Window Cleaner Posted 11 May, 2011 Posted 11 May, 2011 I hear Romain Gasmi is pulling up trees out in Bangkok... We could always try for someone like Mvoto from Sunderland, thought he looked handy at Oldham. Ideal like for like replacement for Rahdi when time ends his career.
Ashley Grute Posted 11 May, 2011 Posted 11 May, 2011 I can' believe he is such a quality player, has been here for 3 seasons and we still don't have a song for the poor fella!

dronskisaint Posted 11 May, 2011 Posted 11 May, 2011 Personally i see Fonte taking the armband next season This Really fires everyone up and takes responsibility
Window Cleaner Posted 11 May, 2011 Posted 11 May, 2011 This Really fires everyone up and takes responsibility Still don't see Hammond being totally cast aside next season myself. He seems to be one of NA's favourite players.I'd say the captaincy will still be in his hands at the start of next season.
Avenue Saint Posted 12 May, 2011 Posted 12 May, 2011 Let lallana, ox and Morgan grow and play together and we hopefully may have something special on our hands in 2-3 years time.
NickG Posted 12 May, 2011 Posted 12 May, 2011 its clear that Lallana particularly likes Morgan playing and joins up with midfield more fluidly when he does
Verbal Kint Posted 12 May, 2011 Posted 12 May, 2011 Let lallana, ox and Morgan grow and play together and we hopefully may have something special on our hands in 2-3 years time. Absolutely. If we can keep them together it will be a very exciting midfield
farawaysaint Posted 12 May, 2011 Posted 12 May, 2011 Absolutely. If we can keep them together it will be a very exciting midfield I fully expect us to lose Morgan unfortunately: how long does he have left on his contract?
