Gemmel Posted 10 May, 2011 Share Posted 10 May, 2011 http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/9481461.stm The accusations are far to detailed to be something that cropped up in conversation and without any evidence. If Triesman has real proof and Blatter's promise to act instantly, then technically the whole World cup bid would have to be re-done. I have to say I have been waiting for someone in our camp to come out and say they were offered bribes - Just didn't think it would be Triesman. If we can prove it beyond any doubt, they will have to go through the process again......surely??
JackFrost Posted 10 May, 2011 Share Posted 10 May, 2011 (edited) Nope There's far too much politics and crony-ism involved for them to backtrack. At best all they'll do is "discipline" the members involved and that will be the end of it. Which basically means blatter won't send them a christmas card this year. Jack Warner for instance has been one of the most corrupt and self serving rogues for years, I remember watching a TV programme where a British reporter investigated his shady dealings about 10 years ago concerning him bribing officials in the 1990s. The fact he's held on to the CONCACAF presidency for over 20 years tells you all you need to know Edited 10 May, 2011 by JackFrost
dubai_phil Posted 10 May, 2011 Share Posted 10 May, 2011 Yeah and not to mention the fact that Qatar for example has placed dozens of contracts with Multi-Nationals on the back of that contract, and the litigation and damages train would just keep rolling and rolling. Nice to think fair play and all that but then in the same series of articles today it emerges that good old England didn't fight fair and square either - employing Private Security Companies with dodgy history. Was totally naive to even think the WC would be fair an open. The REAL way to solve this is to simply not bother turning up in future
stevegrant Posted 10 May, 2011 Share Posted 10 May, 2011 All well and good the FA complaining, but they've recently announced that they'll be backing Sepp Blatter in the presidential elections, so it's going to make absolutely no difference. Yep. A completely ridiculous decision. FIFA appear to be so corrupt it's untrue, and Blatter a senile fool. Yet still we back him.
Draino76 Posted 10 May, 2011 Share Posted 10 May, 2011 Sounds like we would only have to have stumped up £20million to have the world cup. We should have stumped up the loot.

Thats a record number of 'haves' for me in two sentances. We should have done it.

I don't think that Blatter is either senile or a fool. He's a very astute political animal who's expert at getting his own way by whatever means necessary (and not getting caught).
