Doesn't that article say you can bid to be part of the Saints Foundation team, thereby implying the participants in the rest of the tournament are already decided ? Because there would be no reason to pay "over the odds" if you could just enter a team yourself.

£850 for a squad of 7, works out at just over £120 per person. No idea how many games you get for your money though. Two-course dinner after the event included.
