hamster Posted 9 May, 2011 Posted 9 May, 2011 Is it just me or has anyone else noticed that since Saturday 'Southampton' has replaced that other south coast city on the weather map? We are back where we belong and the weathermen should offer an apology for their two years of ignoring us.
Master Bates Posted 9 May, 2011 Posted 9 May, 2011 Been on the map for ages, years, depends what time you watch it.
Matthew Le God Posted 9 May, 2011 Posted 9 May, 2011 Don't most channels and publications just switch between Southampton and Portsmouth all the time? Which to be fair makes sense.
The9 Posted 9 May, 2011 Posted 9 May, 2011 IIRC Southampton on the stationary map and Portsmouth on the moving one - or the other way around - on the Beeb anyway.
hamster Posted 9 May, 2011 Author Posted 9 May, 2011 Alsomwhy is it that when returning from London you don't see a Southampton sign until you're almost at the M25 but you see Pompey all over the place?
The9 Posted 9 May, 2011 Posted 9 May, 2011 Alsomwhy is it that when returning from London you don't see a Southampton sign until you're almost at the M25 but you see Pompey all over the place? That would depend where you're coming from - South London tends to signpost to the A3, West London signposts to the M3 and Southampton.
whelk Posted 10 May, 2011 Posted 10 May, 2011 who can tell that the close season approaches! anyone else notice the final credits on Gardener's World are now are now 1.3 seconds shorter and one of the and one if you look closely you cna make an anagram of Nigel Adkins - although this does require using 3 or so names;-)
Wes Tender Posted 10 May, 2011 Posted 10 May, 2011 Andc why is it on the Radio Solent logo where they display all of the places they cover, much more prominence is given to Skatesmouth?
Snopper Posted 10 May, 2011 Posted 10 May, 2011 More pertinently for Saints fans is the fact that we`ll now have our own page back on teletext - now we`re a Championship club again :-)
Saint in Paradise Posted 10 May, 2011 Posted 10 May, 2011 Alsomwhy is it that when returning from London you don't see a Southampton sign until you're almost at the M25 but you see Pompey all over the place? That is a warning so people don't go the wrong way and end up in pimpey
Breeny Posted 10 May, 2011 Posted 10 May, 2011 When flying internationally to the UK from the southern hemisphere. The planes inter active map still shows Portsmouth No sign of Southampton !!
latter day saint Posted 10 May, 2011 Posted 10 May, 2011 everyone knows where the fine city of Southampton is, so no need to show it on the weather map. also by showing where portsmouth is they are providing an additional public service,to help people avoid the cess pit.
EastleighSoulBoy Posted 10 May, 2011 Posted 10 May, 2011 Alsomwhy is it that when returning from London you don't see a Southampton sign until you're almost at the M25 but you see Pompey all over the place? So people can avoid it.
Spudders Posted 10 May, 2011 Posted 10 May, 2011 we`ll now have our own page back on teletext Crikey, is that still going!
Bakovnetski Posted 10 May, 2011 Posted 10 May, 2011 More pertinently for Saints fans is the fact that we`ll now have our own page back on teletext - now we`re a Championship club again :-) And on BBCi Red Button
Dibden Purlieu Saint Posted 10 May, 2011 Posted 10 May, 2011 I am planning on vandalising every sign that has Portsmouth written on it in the South West London area. It may take a while as the A3 is a long road. I am willing to do it from Guildford to New Malden. Who will take the other sections?
Prince Jazzbo Posted 10 May, 2011 Posted 10 May, 2011 When flying internationally to the UK from the southern hemisphere. The planes inter active map still shows Portsmouth No sign of Southampton !! I flew back from South Africa in April and Soton was on the interactive map.
OVER THE HILL Posted 11 May, 2011 Posted 11 May, 2011 I would think when the play offs have finished.
Dark Munster Posted 11 May, 2011 Posted 11 May, 2011 At least now Fred Dinenage and co. won't be putting the temperature as -10 over Southampton. Mind you, they may soon have to put -30 (or lower) over Cheatsville.
Junction 9 Posted 11 May, 2011 Posted 11 May, 2011 It's just this minute hit me that the football season is over.
Dr Who? Posted 11 May, 2011 Posted 11 May, 2011 Also on 5 live they say they are the home (or words to that effect) of the Premier League, the Championship and the Scotish premier League, that has peed me off for 2 seasons.
Dr Who? Posted 11 May, 2011 Posted 11 May, 2011 oh and match of the day has been really peeing me off since 05/06 season, but not so much this year. I just want us to get back on there!
hamster Posted 11 May, 2011 Author Posted 11 May, 2011 who can tell that the close season approaches! anyone else notice the final credits on Gardener's World are now are now 1.3 seconds shorter and one of the and one if you look closely you cna make an anagram of Nigel Adkins - although this does require using 3 or so names;-) No offence but I want to check this out before commenting. When's it next on and what channel please?
