Gambol2K9 Posted 9 May, 2011 Posted 9 May, 2011 Was it just me or did he looked seriously ****ed off that the fans were on the pitch? I know he'd probably planned the lap of honour and trophy presentation, but surely they must have expected a pitch invasion, especially considering the low number of stewards, i think there was about 10 stretched across the whole northam.
Gemmel Posted 9 May, 2011 Posted 9 May, 2011 I think the huge grin, waving at the fans, lifting the trophy and celebrating with his son (I assume) paint a different picture.
Saints foreva Posted 9 May, 2011 Posted 9 May, 2011 Thought he looked very annoyed at first but seemed to come around when the team came out.
JRM Posted 9 May, 2011 Posted 9 May, 2011 why on earth were some of you weirdos studying cortese's facial expressions at the final whistle rather than enjoying the promotion and celebrating?
Toomer Posted 9 May, 2011 Posted 9 May, 2011 After the pain that we have been through a chance let our feelings and emotions out was to good to miss.
Scudamore Posted 9 May, 2011 Posted 9 May, 2011 I thought he looked pensive...and possibly constipated.
Rusaldo Posted 9 May, 2011 Posted 9 May, 2011 Thought he looked very annoyed at first but seemed to come around when the team came out. This.
saint.tom.clancy Posted 9 May, 2011 Posted 9 May, 2011 Well he was obviously expecting it otherwise they would have got the dogs out / made the stewards at least attempt to not let anyone on. Looked like he was enjoying it to me.
Liquidshokk Posted 9 May, 2011 Posted 9 May, 2011 I was a few rows in front and was trying to gauge what he was feeling. he looked calm and content and looked like he didn't want to get too carried away (he's nowhere near his target yet). He looked slightly nervous at times too with so many eyes on him and I'm sure he was fighting emotions when "one Markus Liebherr" was being sung, as his bit onto his lip throughout. Yes, I know I paid far too much attention He certainly didn't look p!ssed off at any point, from where I was standing.
Saint_Jonny Posted 9 May, 2011 Posted 9 May, 2011 why on earth were some of you weirdos studying cortese's facial expressions at the final whistle rather than enjoying the promotion and celebrating? You have been quite the bitter and twisted so and so lately, JRM!
sussexsaint Posted 9 May, 2011 Posted 9 May, 2011 Doesn't look too unhappy.... K'in hell is that the watch Marcus bought him!!?

Liquidshokk Posted 9 May, 2011 Posted 9 May, 2011 Are you his stalker ? Yes. The italian stallion drives me wild (.....)
thorpie the sinner Posted 9 May, 2011 Posted 9 May, 2011 K'in hell is that the watch Marcus bought him!!? lol!!
a1ex2001 Posted 9 May, 2011 Posted 9 May, 2011 Doesn't look too unhappy.... If thats not a very very happy boss then I don't know what is, if he looked slightly ****ed at the prospect of a pitch invasion it was probably only becuase he knows how much it costs to maintain probably the best pitch outside the top flight.
Matthew Le God Posted 9 May, 2011 Posted 9 May, 2011 (edited) I see where you are going. Edited 9 May, 2011 by Matthew Le God
gaz Posted 9 May, 2011 Posted 9 May, 2011 Oh good, more fans not happy with having little to moan about, so trying to make something out of nothing.
channonball Posted 9 May, 2011 Posted 9 May, 2011 Saw him in the Concourse bar after the game and he was fine. Shaking peoples hands and having pictures taken. Some people just look for a problem when it doesn't exist.
BARCELONASAINT Posted 9 May, 2011 Posted 9 May, 2011 it amazes me how a small minority have to find something negative to say about the club and NC in particular. I should imagine NC went through a number of different emotions on Saturday.....his great friend never got to see part of the dream fulfilled and the singing by the fans chanting Markus name must have really chocked him. He has never been in charge of a football club that has just won promotion and he must have felt an enormous amount of pressure delivering promotion for not only the fans but the Leibherr family. If he didnt appear totally relaxed i'm not surprised but i bet he was brimming with pride inside that he has delivered part one of Markus dream. Have a great summer NC and thanks for a great year. Great to be a Saints fan once again.

St Marco Posted 9 May, 2011 Posted 9 May, 2011 I thought he looked more nervous rather then annoyed. Then as others mentioned he started to get more chilled and joined in as it progressed. Could be many reasons why he was nervous. I remember sometime ago he mentioned something about him having severe anxiety on match days, sometimes not even being able to sleep the night before.
Gambol2K9 Posted 9 May, 2011 Author Posted 9 May, 2011 Oh good, more fans not happy with having little to moan about, so trying to make something out of nothing. Not having a moan or being negative, you can tell NC was enjoying himself towards the end, looked like he'd relaxed a bit as others mentioned. Just thought that he seemed annoyed at the pitch invasion at first, which surprised me considering how little effort was made to keep people off. Almost as if he never expected it. Was a great day though and a really fitting end to the season. Give me a trophy presentation in the directors box over a lap of honour any day!
saintscottofthenortham Posted 9 May, 2011 Posted 9 May, 2011 The fact that he didn't rip his shirt and tie off and swing it around his head whilst running onto the pitch screaming "You Skate B*stards, WERE COMING FOR YOU!" just showed how little emotion he has for the club. Cortese Out.
hamster Posted 9 May, 2011 Posted 9 May, 2011 Doesn't look too unhappy.... Blow me, that's a big watch! Is that the one Markus carried across town for Nicola? Big respect if it is.

manji Posted 9 May, 2011 Posted 9 May, 2011 http://www.southampton.vitalfootball.co.uk/article.asp?a=241362 Excellent.
hypochondriac Posted 9 May, 2011 Posted 9 May, 2011 I don't know any other club who constantly talks about the chairman. I hope next season he makes the right decisions and is hardly mentioned. I'm sure he would prefer it that way too.
Dr Who? Posted 9 May, 2011 Posted 9 May, 2011 I don't know any other club who constantly talks about the chairman. I hope next season he makes the right decisions and is hardly mentioned. I'm sure he would prefer it that way too. Gets mentioned less the better we are doing, but deserves all the praise he gets, and also the stick if things go wrong.....all positive at the moment though!

I'm sure he would prefer it that way too. You seem to be in the minority my friend on your attitude towards our good Chairman! If your quick to scathe him, you should equally praise him during his successes. To be fair he's been shown to get not a lot wrong in his time. Long may his songs be sung @ St Marys
sadoldgit Posted 9 May, 2011 Posted 9 May, 2011 K'in hell is that the watch Marcus bought him!!? Let's hope he didn't do a "Pulp Fiction" with it!!!!
trousers Posted 9 May, 2011 Posted 9 May, 2011 Who is that on Cortese's left!? Conspiracy! That's Fred Gee. Bet Lynch's cellar man and chauffeur.
Saint-Armstrong Posted 9 May, 2011 Posted 9 May, 2011 If you have SaintsPlayer watched the extended highlights from about 24 minutes in, you later see Nicola high fiving everyone and clapping and smiling and laughing. I'd say he was pleased.
Saint-Armstrong Posted 9 May, 2011 Posted 9 May, 2011 And several players/coaches and Cortese taking pictures of the crowd on their phones. Amazing stuff.
Dig Dig Posted 9 May, 2011 Posted 9 May, 2011 I don't know any other club who constantly talks about the chairman. I hope next season he makes the right decisions and is hardly mentioned. I'm sure he would prefer it that way too. You say that but the second there is any negative speculation you and a few others would be all over it like a rash.

Thedelldays Posted 10 May, 2011 Posted 10 May, 2011 I don't know any other club who constantly talks about the chairman. I hope next season he makes the right decisions and is hardly mentioned. I'm sure he would prefer it that way too. im sure..infact, i am certain if a whiff of a rumour came out that he peed off MLT or Benali or had a row with another employee at the club, regardless if it was true or not you would be all over it and posting stuff like "what a shame" etc infact, you already have on the main page about Lawrie Mac just have to accept, Cortese is very popular with saints fans in general..
farawaysaint Posted 10 May, 2011 Posted 10 May, 2011 I don't know any other club who constantly talks about the chairman. I hope next season he makes the right decisions and is hardly mentioned. I'm sure he would prefer it that way too. I assume you're joking, look at Bates, Mitchell or that bloke at Newcastle. Fans are constantly *****ing about their owners and chairmen
saintscottofthenortham Posted 10 May, 2011 Posted 10 May, 2011 I'd ignore Hypo. He's just an immature 17 year old.
Wurzel Posted 10 May, 2011 Posted 10 May, 2011 You say it as though Cortese is just another chairman. In the style of the M&S advert "This is not any old chairman, it's the SFC Chairman"
david in sweden Posted 10 May, 2011 Posted 10 May, 2011 Oh my god! He's hitting Adkins! Clearly not happy :-( Nah..looks like a high five to me ..
Um Bongo Posted 10 May, 2011 Posted 10 May, 2011 I heard he was upset he didn't think of charging people £3 to go on the pitch.
Chez Posted 10 May, 2011 Posted 10 May, 2011 I heard he was upset he didn't think of charging people £3 to go on the pitch. I have little doubt that it will be included in next season's ticket price rise
