Anyone else now hoping they DON'T come out tonight, so they can laugh at some of the mongs on here?

This is not at all funny.

You know what else is pathetic? People that give this poor man abuse when he's probably told when to tweet this info anyway. Imagine what good this is doing the club on the advertising side of things, with the amount of hits they're getting on the website tonight.

He didn't post it on the official saints Twitter, he posted it on his own 'all views are my own' account.

You have to wonder what all those other stupid clubs are doing selling their season tickets over a much longer period!!!!!

How come we're the only ones who do it right by having such a short window????

strange, I don't get it. Would have thought March Madness would have been popular this season.

Not following the crowd and only allowing us a month to get a renewal in is hardly making at hard as possible for us though!

What actually does he do other than stay up late at night f*cking around on his Twitter account?

I have no idea what his job description is. I am certain there is more to it than that and that Cortese would not employ someone just to 'f*ck around' on twitter. Regardless, it is truly pathetic to get angry and abusive.

It'll be a hideous couple from Shirley at the front of the queue. She'll be pictured dribbling on the OS.

Clad in a saints shirt and scarf. She'll be pictured in the echo tomorrow night holding her scarf above her head surrounded by a group of other wierdos and give a brief but unintelligible interview about what a brilliant season it's going to be, especially when Micheal Owen signs.

as im the first in the queue, I hear NC will be giving out the first 5 of us 'free' season tickets.....

im here with a couple of "scarfers" from shirley

He's still an employee of the club. Everybody knows he is the official mouth of Southampton Football Club - that's why he has so many followers.

He is the official club spokesman. Apparantly started out in the media department a few years back and a bit of a yes man to Nicky, hence his promotions since he rolled into town.

very impressive way of operating, late night announcement to avoid local newspapers (hardly a champions league approach to communications) and a kid who posts online when his boss tells him to.

seriously...what difference does it make...now or 7am or 10am or 3pm....what difference does it make on this issue...?

I can't wait to see their take on it over on TUI...

Interestingly, they've got the "going the distance" article on both the main part and the column to the right on "Latest News" - probably moved it round in prep. to change the main article. It's about to go up, people.

Because the 'club' are showing it means more to them to get one over a local paper than get the message out to the masses which is what communications are supposed to do.

I should also add that previously the Chamberlain article was at the top of the column...

It's what will become known as "The Southampton Style"

So, last night was not the night then. Maybe this morning.

Or maybe Sibley is on holiday somewhere where it's already friday and as such tonight would be tonight rather than last night? ;)

No-one has at once said that they were going to completely do away with season tickets. There has been a genuine discussion as to what the club's policy is towards promoting and encouranging the take up of season tickets as oppossed to pay per game. Good to hear about an announcement this eve, looking forward to seeing the details.

Actually I did suggest they might, early in the 2010/11 season. And I also repeated it last week. I'd like to say I was wrong, but as I'm sitting here hitting F5, I am only struck by the contemptuous attitude of the club's media approach to its fans. "This evening" does not stretch to gone midnight, no matter how many hits they want on their site.

Why is there someone called saints webber using a photo of steve grant as his twitter photo and sending abusive messages to sibley!! :-O

I use a photo of Steve Grant on my Twitter profile too. It's a well known under-cover technique on there

How on earth will the message NOtT get to Te masses of the released the info now?

I think it's hilarious, grown men getting all angry about a twitter account that is saying something that will be on sale in the 1000s that you can't use for 10 weeks is not released NOW!!

Great thread

Yeah, I noticed that. It's boring now.

Yeah, numerous people have said they'd be doing away with season tickets...obviously they were wrong but it certainly seems as if the club want as few as possible.

The difference is that releasing the information when they say they will is the difference between bare competence and contempt.

The term "this evening" is subjective, many use it to describe the night as a whole, others for a shorter period. It is still the same night-time in which we were told the article would arrive. We were told it would be "later this evening" at gone 9pm, so clearly it is being used as a term to describe the night as a whole. So it isn't late (yet). Ask again at 6am. ;)

On a scale of 0 to 10, I can't get above a 4 for how annoying this late announcement is. Ok so they said 'this evening' and it hasn't happened yet, which is a bit naughty but in the great scheme of things, so what? Not to mention the fact there could be genuine reasons for the delay out of the clubs control.

Life is really too short to let this kind of thing wind you up people! Relax!

Interesting business tactic, making your customers look like mugs and making them feel stupid for giving into curiosity and staying up for the news....

For me it's simply the curiosity of hearing about something to do with my biggest interest. Not fussed when they actually get announced but dangling the carrot and then taking it away is naturally a bit irritating.

You wouldn't be saying that if like myself, Dell Days and the illterate, horrdendous couple from Shirley you were writing this from outside SMS, queuing through the night. I am sending a strongly worded email of complaint tomorrow morning.

normal business models don't apply in football though - its not like getting fed up with customer service at Debenhams so you go to John Lewis, you are hardly likely to go and get a fratton park season ticket due to their better OS!

I do think it's pretty silly leaving it this late at night.

Surely it's got to the stage where it won't happen till before sunrise now. What could possibly be going on at this hour to have held it up this long?

Doesn't really give the club license to do hat they like.

You still wouldn't want to annoy your customers too much surely. These things can still have a negative impact on a customers willingness to put money into the club in other ways

dont be silly, why e-mail? you can pop in & complain in his office when he invites you in after being first in the queue

they know if the team is winning and playing good football etc the fans will follow - so it pretty much does!

doubt the timing or manner of the announcement will financially impact on the club at all

Would that be THIS morning or tomorrow morning, ie tomorrow?
