22,160.

(Total home attendance for league matches - 509,695).

To put the avearge gate in perspective in 1983-84 when we finished runners-up in the old Div One our average gate was 18,050

Be interesting to see what happens next season.

Very good, going down the divs have shown that we aren't the small club it was possible to percieve in the prem. Our attendance had held up well, of course it helps coming a very close second.

impressive, compares well with

prem - B'ham 25k, Bolton 22k, Blackburn 25k, Wigan 16k

CCC - Cardiff 23k, Hull 21k, Notts F 23k, Leicester 23k, Leeds 27k, Middlesborough 16k

If we start well, we could be about the best supported club in CCC

not to put a downer on things though, we get good crowds because we are winning, a poor season in the championship with higher ticket prices may see crowds dip. Everyone wants to see saints win and the 2 seasons we had in div 1, have seen this happen more times than not, thus the punters flock in.

so, our average attendance (in division 3) is bigger than fratton park itself.....lol

worry not, im sure a new pompey super stadium will be built in due course to correct this

Average following that we've taken away is just north of 1500. Not bad at all.

Bearing in mind we were limitted in many games by small allocations, ie. Brighton, Bournemouth, Brentford, and we could have brought many more to Plymouth, Orient, Dagenham, Exeter...

Yep, just goes to show that our hardcore base is bigger then many of us thought.

That's quite interesting, because many fans over 40 look back with rose tinted spectacles and say The Dell was much better than St Mary's

Despite being from that generation, I've always disagreed

Yesterday, was another example of what a cracking atmosphere St Mary's can generate, I also believe St Mary's has enticed a new generation of supporters, something The Dell would have failed to do

I make that 40.6% higher than our near neighbours...

:vuvu:

Exactly, and they are ‘MASSIVE’ as well as being ‘The best supporters in the land™’, so what does that make us…?

they have talked about it for years, but their small brains could not get away from the point that having 50k in 1946 had no relevance to the here and now, only got 36k in 84 because of 10k from Southampton(9 official 1 unofficial)
