Colinjb Posted 8 May, 2011 Posted 8 May, 2011 Big game this. Difficult opposition who have a point to proove. What are we expecting? I'll go for a straight 4-4-2. ----------------- Lambert ------------ Guly ----------------- Lallana -------- Hamster ---------- Schneiderlin --- Forte Harding -------- Martin -------------- Fonte ------ Butters ------------------------- Sewpa Kelv -------------------------
Tractor_Saint Posted 8 May, 2011 Posted 8 May, 2011 Really looking forward to this game! Wondering if the players will be in the concourse again today after the match... hope so!
LGTL Posted 8 May, 2011 Posted 8 May, 2011 Can everyone just be in silence? Don't think my head can take anything else.
LeBenali Posted 8 May, 2011 Posted 8 May, 2011 Strachan has pulled out last minute, Dave Merrington will now take charge of the old boys............ Source: Solent twitter

Colinjb Posted 8 May, 2011 Author Posted 8 May, 2011 Could Glenn Hoddle come and do that ? Possible, but they wanted to avoid the spontaneous combustion of one fan at the game.
Saint Garrett Posted 8 May, 2011 Posted 8 May, 2011 Shame about Strachan. Have they even managed to get enough players to turn up? Get the impression they're scraping the barrell a bit, and also have about 80% defenders !! Anyone got an idea about attendance ?

Catherine the steward (Family stand) said about 14,000 tickets had gone as of yesterday.
fromdayone Posted 8 May, 2011 Posted 8 May, 2011 Catherine the steward (Family stand) said about 14,000 tickets had gone as of yesterday. 16000 as of 10.22 this morning...should be a good walk up to if weather stays nice.
saintsfannick Posted 8 May, 2011 Posted 8 May, 2011 HUGE GAME , think the pressure may get to saints though
saintds Posted 8 May, 2011 Posted 8 May, 2011 Any idea if the opposition are bringing many fans? Using this as an opportunity to introduce my 3 year old to SMS - he can't sit still for 2 minutes so should be good
Colinjb Posted 8 May, 2011 Author Posted 8 May, 2011 Any idea if the opposition are bringing many fans? Using this as an opportunity to introduce my 3 year old to SMS - he can't sit still for 2 minutes so should be good Apparently their away support is crap.
SNOWY Posted 8 May, 2011 Posted 8 May, 2011 (edited) I heard that some of our players were spotted in town last night. Totally unprofessional, clearly the manager has lost the dressing room, Adkins out! Edited 8 May, 2011 by SNOWY
Mowgli Posted 8 May, 2011 Posted 8 May, 2011 Apparently their away support is crap. Come on if you think you're 'ard enough.... My ticket does actually say "away supporter". This is OUR Cup Final. Expect us to make you look very ordinary. We have our own bus and there may be one or two surprises on board!!
wild-saint Posted 8 May, 2011 Posted 8 May, 2011 I predict Micky Channon and Terry Paine will be made presidents of the club. Likely to leave LMac slighlty let down though.
ericofarabia Posted 8 May, 2011 Posted 8 May, 2011 16000 as of 10.22 this morning...should be a good walk up to if weather stays nice. LOL better than 90% of Skates home matches!!! And before they say but you are celebrating promotion - I seem to remember only about 3000 turned up to see them show off their cheat Fa Cup win.
Gingeletiss Posted 8 May, 2011 Posted 8 May, 2011 Shame about Strachan. Have they even managed to get enough players to turn up? Get the impression they're scraping the barrell a bit, and also have about 80% defenders !! Anyone got an idea about attendance ? They'll need them
SOTONS EAST SIDE Posted 8 May, 2011 Posted 8 May, 2011 At the ticket office at 11.40 only few tickets left for just the Itchen stand.
for_heaven's_Saint Posted 8 May, 2011 Posted 8 May, 2011 I should imagine quite a few people got tickets with the intention of going then had a few too many celebratory pints last night and can't quite bring themselves to get out of bed today! I was nearly one of these people, but have decided to attend afterall.
davefoggy Posted 8 May, 2011 Posted 8 May, 2011 just had a text from mate, 3pm and still queing to get in! really busy apparantly
Lighthouse Posted 8 May, 2011 Posted 8 May, 2011 (edited) 17,400 and something. Good effort by all! Pretty good laugh really. 2-1 to the first team. II, Lambert and guly scored. Niemi made a great save from Lallana, Tessem almost chipped Bart too. And Paul Williams is sooooooo fat Edited 8 May, 2011 by Lighthouse
SO16_Saint Posted 8 May, 2011 Posted 8 May, 2011 Sam Hoskins must be good. Coming on to replace Guly AND Rickie!!

Saint Charlie Posted 8 May, 2011 Posted 8 May, 2011 Williams is a lovely bloke though. Hes the coach of my nephews team at the academy. Ah so he still works for Saints? Good to use the expertise of our ex players.
Nexstar Posted 8 May, 2011 Posted 8 May, 2011 Was something to do on a Sunday afternoon. Few decent old faces, funny football and a nice end of season feel.
sambosa75 Posted 8 May, 2011 Posted 8 May, 2011 Ah so he still works for Saints? Good to use the expertise of our ex players. Yeah been there for a couple of years. He's brilliant with the kids. They all seem to love playing for him.
Saint J 77 Posted 8 May, 2011 Posted 8 May, 2011 I thought Sammy the Saint had a good game after he came on at the end
SaintNick89 Posted 8 May, 2011 Posted 8 May, 2011 I wanted to see Adkins come on in Goal for the legends team
sidthesquid Posted 8 May, 2011 Posted 8 May, 2011 A fun afternoon & good to see some old faces. Higher turnout than for Skates last home league game, LOL. Did anyone notice that virtually all our young subs appear to have been cloned in a giant lab under Staplewood, or possibly the result of some sinister breeding programme to create the master-race, started circa 1995 by one R Lowe?
saint_bert Posted 8 May, 2011 Posted 8 May, 2011 Great afternoon. My nipper's first time at SMS. He said it was great but I made him jump when Guly scored that screamer. Nice rolley polley by Kelvin at the end too
Matthew Le God Posted 8 May, 2011 Posted 8 May, 2011 And Paul Williams is sooooooo fat No he isn't...
hypochondriac Posted 8 May, 2011 Posted 8 May, 2011 From a poster on another thread, neither Matt or Benali were asked which has taken the gloss off the day for me somewhat.
saintscottofthenortham Posted 8 May, 2011 Posted 8 May, 2011 From a poster on another thread, neither Matt or Benali were asked which has taken the gloss off the day for me somewhat. Yawn.
Matthew Le God Posted 8 May, 2011 Posted 8 May, 2011 From a poster on another thread, neither Matt or Benali were asked which has taken the gloss off the day for me somewhat. Would you invite someone to your party if they used the national and local media to have digs at you?
bpsaint Posted 8 May, 2011 Posted 8 May, 2011 Who is the guy on the microphone? Really hoping he isn't going to be the pitch announcer next season, almost as annoying as Stewart Dennis. Enjoyed today, was good to see some old faces again, shame the game faded towards the end. Guly's goal was top drawer, would have loved to have seen it in a league game. Idiakez was quality in the centre of the pitch in the first half, surprised he isn't playing for a league 1 or 2 team still. Top save from Niemi from Lallana too, hoping the club release some highlights online at some point.
manji Posted 8 May, 2011 Posted 8 May, 2011 Would you invite someone to your party if they used the national and local media to have digs at you? Quite.
um pahars Posted 8 May, 2011 Posted 8 May, 2011 Totally anecdotal, but I reckon in excess of 50% of today's attendees weren't regulars at St Mary's (judging by who I went with, people who I didn't recognise sat around us, number of families & kids) which all bodes well for the future as hopefully a few have gone home interested in coming on a regular basis. Nice kickabout, some "legends", some not so legendary!!!!! and a nice gesture to reward the regulars and a decent initiative to attract others to SMS.
NickG Posted 8 May, 2011 Posted 8 May, 2011 nice day, hopefully saw some of our future talent for last 15 mins
for_heaven's_Saint Posted 8 May, 2011 Posted 8 May, 2011 Any ideas why Fonte didn't take part in the lap of honour?
