How many Saints games have you been to this season?

When I can go, when I get to go, I feel pure excitement and am looking forward to it for days before.

I dont see why some sad-act beer-swilling pie-munching f**kwit has the right to judge others irrespective of their circumstances. Does he have a f**king clue what its like not being able to participate in the celebrations after yearning for something to happen for years.

Yes, he is TheC, but it aint TheCat.......

Why are you always such a knob jockey on this website?

**** poor 4 for me by Saturday

Bournemouth H (league) 2-0

Huddersfield H 4-1

Tranmere A 0-1? I was quite drunk tbf

Walsall H ?-?

And yet what are you doing, judging someone irrespective of their circumstances

Strangely, 35 people managed to reply to the OP without getting offended about it - I suggest you lighten up for once. The victimised persona you seem to offer up on an all-too-regular basis gets rather tiresome, and seems to affect your ability to actually take things at face value. Occasionally, believe it or not, people don't start threads on here just to have a pop at someone living in Austria who they've never met.

Not at all. I'm not narrow minded enough to judge people I don't know on their own personal circumstances. Things change, and some people who went to a handful of games this season may have been to loads last year, or will do next season. The season after the Great Escape I only made 5 matches despite living in Thornberry Avenue, 1 minute walk from the Dell. I just had no money. The season after I went to over 30.

If you want to get all stroppy about an innocent question then fine, feel free.

Not doubting your motives; don't know your circumstances- but you're not so naive to think people don't get self-righteous about going to games -hence the ST ticket waving in parts of SMS. Often its extremely subtle but you see similar behaviour reproduced week-in week-out at away games.

Those of us who have been to many games this season will share a very different "promotion" experience to those who haven't, if you haven't been to many games you don't need to post on this if you don't want to.

Just as you lot who come on here for every game posting away about whatever it is you've heard on the radio, those of us who travel the length and breath of the country have our "scene" and it's interesting to know where people travel from, which games they get to and how.

i've only missed Exeter & Peterborough away from home this season plus a few home games, all in all been enjoyable and managed to get a few new grounds under my belt.

Who the f*ck cares if you haven't done any games, I don't, don't ruin a thread because of it.

Done every home league game apart from Dagenham & Redbridge which I missed for a girl (good idea at the time, in hindsight wish I had gone to the game.)

Think I did Bolton and United in the cup.

Done 14 away games.

Do you still live there? :{ (It's Thornbury BTW)

I f*cking hate that season ticket waving in the Northam, and have pointed out before that people i've seen doing it probably don't go to many away games themselves.

I wouldn't criticise any saints fans in the ground who have made the effort to turn up and support the team, however i do find it interesting speaking to those who make it to every game and the experiences they have while doing it.

Out of interest those that do a lot (all away) games is there a certain age group? I imagine it as the preserve of young unmarried males (and a few females) with a decent amount of disposable income in the main (although I could be very wrong).

Just going to home games eats into my family budget and weekend long away trips would go down like a lead ballon with my other half. I'd love to do some away games next season if there localish but I can never imagine a time when I could do all of them in a season ,maybe in 20 years when the kids leave home:(

Speaking as a (relatively - 27) young unmarried male, while there are quite a few in a similar situation to me, I don't think I'm in a particular majority, from what I can tell. There are a lot of older regulars (either self-employed or retired, perhaps?), as well as a few families who I see together at loads of games. I wouldn't say I've got a massive amount of disposable income, but most of it does go on following Saints - that's my choice, I'm sure I could find many other ways to spend it if I wanted to.

I think living in London, as I have been since October, gives me a slight advantage over Southampton-based fans when it comes to away travel. There are so many more options for getting to away games, and I don't have the added expense of travelling from Southampton to London first for the long-distance games such as Carlisle or Hartlepool. I can just go across London to Euston or Kings Cross (or Paddington, as was the case on Monday). That said, home games are now like away games, so it's swings and roundabouts really.

That's probably right, though you have to distinguish the ones that go up by coach from the ones that take the train/car - the latter are probably closer to your description.

You also get alot of older folk - alot of older women, though the utter hardcore are over 50, male and definitely single.

I'm 35 and have 2 small kids, one who started school this year.

Despite my other half not being bothered about football, I am fortunate that she doesn't mind me going to a lot of games. But then it's always been that way - she knew from right at the start of our relationship that I'd be at football most Saturdays.

Also I'm lucky that I stay at home with the kids while she works. If it was the other way round and I was out at work 5 days a week and then out all day most Saturdays she probably wouldn't be too happy!

Haven't worked out if London is a help or hinderance - midweek home games are absolute killers, especially as the 10pm train requires you to usain bolt it back to the station. And as I remember it, there are alot more midweek league games in the NPC coz of the international break.

For midweek away games north of Birmingham, living in London makes no difference - you wont be returning the same night. And whereas this season places like Yeovil were doable in the same evening for Southampton-based fans, they were not for Londoners; at least, next season promises quite a few midlandy fixtures -Leicester, Ipswich, Forest and possibly Wolves which will give us an advantage. The freedom of having Euston/St Pancras and Kings X on your doorstep is fantastic, but a Southampton-based fan will always have the option of the travel coach which is the ultimate clincher if you're not after the complete away day experience.

After Saturday woud have done the full season, 53 out of 53. Also not missed an England game home or away since last August.

Got very lucky with the Plymouth game and the new idea to schedule some England games for Friday nights!

I wouldn't say the hardcore are over 50 and definitely single!! I would suggest you don't do many away games on the train if you think that is the case! the core away train travellers are just well organised, book train deals while they are still affordable, eg 12 weeks in advance when they go on sale, most of them have more about them than the average fan, using initiative working out cheaper / more enjoyable routes to do games, often using them as an opportunity to meet up with lads from other clubs they know.

Home to Plymouth, Leyton Orient, Brighton, Huddersfield, Charlton, Bristol, Hartlepool and Walsall.

Away to Notts County, Charlton and Orient.

Pretty much depends on term dates but I get to every home game I'm back for.

Living in London - I only take the train and I don't miss many away games (just 4 in the last three seasons). I haven't got the numbers but I get the impression that the core away support is significantly older than our home support (though I'm in Itchen North which isn't the Chapel or Kingsland and so not v.representative) and the support gets older, the more hardcore the game. Obviously there are exceptions - London games and away days like Blackpool attract a few more yoof/lads and the description doesnt apply to me. But they're largely exceptions.

Zero - so f**king what ?

What a truly w*nky d*ck-measuring thread this is.

Obviously, everyone should attend the coronation of TheCat as THE Über Fan.....

Dont see why you should feel guilty or prostate yourself in front of TheCat.

Really this thread is seriously f**king stupid.

Actually I'd have thought this thread was more a celebration of people's devotion to the cause even in League One...

I've been to 15 games this season as I just haven't been able to afford it with inheriting a house that is an absolute money pit.

But do you know what? I applaud every fan who goes to any games in this League...

FFS...

All 22 home league games (plus one to come)

Both of the 2 League Cup matches

the JPT game (ugh)

All 4 FA Cup matches

Plus a piddly 6 aways at Peterborough, AFC Bournemouth, Leyton Orient, Brighton, Brentford and Plymouth, cos I'm a massive end of season away glory hunter (and Rochdale got called off while I was on my way there).

It's been pretty easy supporting Saints this season, we never get drawn away in the cups for a start. Last away draw in a Cup was Northampton away in FAC R2 in Nov 2009, we've played 13 Cup games since then (inc MK in a two-legger* and a neutral cup final, pedants) and not one away draw. Actually with the 3 home JPT draws and Man U 2009 coming before Northampton (and only one FAC away at Bristol Rovers), we've only had 2 away cup draws in the last 17.

Anyway... I've done 29/52 in total, including

22/22 home, 6/23 away League and 7/7 (all home) Cups.

Edited by The9
forgot JPT, as we all can now :O)
