This Time Next Year

Time for a change then, Adkins will have a game plan in place IMO.

I think he will too. He's got his head screwed on and he likes to plan to the finest detail. If he can sort out a decent pre-season he will have done what no manager has been able to do for 20 odd years. God knows why we we've always been poor in this department, but there must be a reason and f/ck all this supertstitious b/llocks you hear from the sooth sayers (this is saints and we always do it the hard way zzzzzzzzzz) because it's b/llocks.

What we don't want to do is another Switzerland jolly - it didn;t work

F/ck sweden too - we did that one year in the prem and it didn't work so we kept doing it every year.

It#s really simple. Copy what works. Look at the pre seasons a manager that knows what he's doing does and do what he does. Do what Fergie does. It's not rocket science. This where I think Ray Wilkins should be listened to.

There seem to be two threads going on here

What we/NC/NA should be aiming for - champions nothing less

and

What we can realistically expect - much harder to answer as we don't know if/how much money there is to spend, what players we will let go/keep/buy and what teams will be in the league with us next season. Based on keeping the team we have now top half finish is IMO realistic back to back promotions is not.

However that view could change depending on what happens/doesn't happen over the summer and which teams are relegated from the PL.

IMO Cortese will have seen what Norwich achieved this season and will see no reason why we can't do the same

He will see also that a player he decided not to sign at the last minute has been a cornerstone in Norwich's promotion campaign.

Maybe with Ward and Fonté in CD we'd have already been in the NPC as well.Seaborne gave away goals last season that Ward might not have done, ie the penalty at Tranmere.

It's all ifs and buts isn't it.

Did we not buy fonte instead of Ward or was Seaborne instead of ward. I can't remember.

Bang on.

Therefore i expect a promotion push after some careful strenthening and tweaking of our existing squad - wholesale changes will not be required but there may be a couple of marquee signings possibly.

Due to having a settled backroom setup this time around we can get in early for the best that is available on a free - getting to the prem does not have to cost tens of millions like some people think!

I reckon our current squad could have finished in mid-table comfort in this years NPC but my personal feeling is the Championship hasn't been very strong this season. I think with a couple of intelligent signings we could achieve a top half finish and if (and that's a big IF) we have a strong start you never know, we could be hanging on the shirt tails of the top 6.

Take each game one at a time and control the controllables. Get everyone on the bus and treat each game a bit like a cup final. Have a plan B. That way we will target the top of the table for sure.

Aim for promotion, real chance of getting to play offs. Realistically I would be happy if we were in the mix around Christmas and take it from there...

Haven't got a clue where we will finish. But what may help us is that we are no longer the 'big fish' so some teams may take us a little less seriously than those we played this season. Yes it's slightly arrogant - but we were probably one of the teams that most wanted to beat, next season will be a little different.

Just so long as we aren't relegated. It is a five year plan to get back to the Prem don't forget. We've done 2 years now so although promotion next year is the obvious goal, it won't be the end of the world to consolidate in the Champ for a year before pushing on. I think people should be a tad realistic here. League one is a piece of p!ss compared to the top of the Champ. Let's not forget that we were in the Champ for 4 seasons trying to get back to the Prem. It is a tough, tough league. Norwich going straight up is not normal.

Realiastically I would expect very little next year. Top half would make sense.

BUT

On Good Friday I listened to a commentary of the match between Doncaster and Palace. Now I recognise that Donny are unlikely to be one of the top Npc teams next year but in that match their attacking options were Jason Euell (on loan from Blackpool) up front with Simon Gillett playing just behind him. Not surprisingly the game was goalless.

With all due respect to these two ex saints, if that is the standard that we are up against next year, I would be amazed if we do not challenge for promotion.

Think we will hit a consolidation point next season again - top 10...possibly play-offs, but all depends on the quality of the incoming summer signings and the decisions about who's out the door. Tricky stuff to keep squad spirits high whilst losing deadwood.

I really think we will win the Championship, we will get a couple of signings I'm sure.

Next season is going to be quality, teams will attack us and we will be able to play a game that suits us COYS lets win it!!!
