Dog Posted 4 May, 2011 Posted 4 May, 2011 What is your favourite place to stay and best beach in the county of Cornwall? I always choose to go to Polperro, love the beach at Gunwalloe. I hate St Ives & Newquay. Porthcurno & Kynance turn me on.
Dog Posted 5 May, 2011 Author Posted 5 May, 2011 My wife loves Perranporth. Not yet been myself. Lovely place.
saint_jas Posted 5 May, 2011 Posted 5 May, 2011 Whitsands for me, probably because it is easy to get from Plymouth !!
saintscottofthenortham Posted 5 May, 2011 Posted 5 May, 2011 I always stay near Truro as everything is in reach then. Perranporth, Mevagissey and St Michaels Mount are some of my favourite places in Cornwall.
HK_Phoey Posted 5 May, 2011 Posted 5 May, 2011 Did my degree at Plymouth Poly (as was). Love Polperro, lovely place to stay and walk along the coast to either Fowey or Looe. Perranporth I think is the best beach. Although we had a good few weekends in Newquay as well
Sheaf Saint Posted 5 May, 2011 Posted 5 May, 2011 Constantine Bay near Padstow. Been there a few times and camped in a local farmer's field. Beautiful place - not touristy and stunning sunsets over the Atlantic.
Special K Posted 5 May, 2011 Posted 5 May, 2011 There is a great beach between Boswinger and St Michael Caerhays. Quite quiet and very nice.
Julian H. Cope Posted 5 May, 2011 Posted 5 May, 2011 Looe is my favourite place to stay, also fond of Mevagissey & Porthleven. Favourite beach is Hayle Towans.
Jimmy Gabriel's Halo Posted 5 May, 2011 Posted 5 May, 2011 I hate Cornwall. Those bl00dy narrow roads get on my nerves and twenty five years ago I was refused a crab sandwich in a pub because it was 2.10pm in the afternoon. I have never forgotten or forgiven that. Bitter and twisted....?? Moi...??
Thedelldays Posted 5 May, 2011 Posted 5 May, 2011 I can see cornwall from my kitchen Looe Padstow newquay (sometimes) st ives hayle polpero all worth a visit
norwaysaint Posted 5 May, 2011 Posted 5 May, 2011 My dad lives in St Keverne so we usually stay there, also like Coverack and Kynance though. My second favourite part of the country after the Lakes, pain in the arse for me to get to though.
BadgerBadger Posted 5 May, 2011 Posted 5 May, 2011 St Levan is the one for me then a late afternoon walk out and a scramble around Logan Rock and back for a steak and many pints of Tribute in the Logan Rock Inn is my perfect day - bliss!
Guest Dark Sotonic Mills Posted 5 May, 2011 Posted 5 May, 2011 We went on our honeymoon to Cornwall and rented a farmhouse in Germoe. It was a short walk down to Praa Sands, which was a fantastic and unspoilt beach.
sambosa75 Posted 6 May, 2011 Posted 6 May, 2011 Rock for me. The other half's Grandad has a massive house down there a short walk from the ferry over the Camel estuary from Padstow but you tend not to get too much of the tourist riff raff over the other side in Rock. Only drawback is if you miss the last ferry back you are looking at a rather long swim in the dark or a hefty cab fare.
BTW Saint Posted 6 May, 2011 Posted 6 May, 2011 Both North and South coasts have a lovely contrast Trebah gardens and beach nr Mawnan Smith and Glendurgan (NT) next door Flushing especially for the childrens pirate ship overlooking Falmouth harbour Daymer Bay, nr Rock for the beach and Polzeath for surfing Coast path nr the old mines at St Agnes Porthcurno for the coast path over the boulders
miserableoldgit Posted 6 May, 2011 Posted 6 May, 2011 We love Tintagel and the area around there. Some spectacular views. Well worth the climb.
Junction 9 Posted 6 May, 2011 Posted 6 May, 2011 Crantock is a little gem most Emmits don't know about.
scotty Posted 6 May, 2011 Posted 6 May, 2011 We've been to Looe, Polperro and Mousehole, all pretty places, but I'm with jimmy gabriels halo on this, wont be rushing back anytime soon.
stu0x Posted 7 May, 2011 Posted 7 May, 2011 I proposed in Port Isaac, so I should probably say there! We normally do the Atlantic coast around Padstow, Bedruthan is a lovely walk by the sea and *billions* of mussels if you fancy some harvesting for tea!
Wade Garrett Posted 31 May, 2011 Posted 31 May, 2011 I always stay near Truro as everything is in reach then. Perranporth, Mevagissey and St Michaels Mount are some of my favourite places in Cornwall. My eldest daughter was conceived near St Michaels Mount.
scotty Posted 31 May, 2011 Posted 31 May, 2011 My eldest daughter was conceived near St Michaels Mount. [note to self....dont drink and post....]
Jonnyboy Posted 31 May, 2011 Posted 31 May, 2011 My eldest daughter was conceived near St Michaels Mount. indoors or outdoors? druids present?
Turkish Posted 31 May, 2011 Posted 31 May, 2011 My eldest daughter was conceived near St Michaels Mount. so was mine, Spooky. dont know who the mother was though.
1976_Child Posted 31 May, 2011 Posted 31 May, 2011 never been to Cornwallshire. Frankly, anywhere that far west is not worth bothering about.
Brussels Saint Posted 31 May, 2011 Posted 31 May, 2011 Spent the first 18 years of my life in Cornwall and fully agree it's a magical place. Still get back occasionally to visit my sister in Falmouth. Once counted they had 9 pasty shops on the high street. Outstanding!
dune Posted 1 June, 2011 Posted 1 June, 2011 I've stayed in a fishermans cottage in Mevagissey literally a 1 minute stroll to the harbour. A really nice place to stay for a relaxing break. Haven't stayed at Looe, but if and when I holiday in Cornwall again this is where i'll stay.
jjsaint Posted 1 June, 2011 Posted 1 June, 2011 I always enjoyed St Ives, but yes it is touristy. St Agnes near Perranporth is nice too. We had our shoestring honeymoon in the interior of Cornwall, the 'real' Cornwall. Some magical if slightly odd places. Bodmin Moor is lovely.
Wade Garrett Posted 1 June, 2011 Posted 1 June, 2011 so was mine, Spooky. dont know who the mother was though. Coincidentally, I've never been there! How strange.
