SaintNeil90 Posted 3 May, 2011 Posted 3 May, 2011 Winning so many games. Doubt we will win as many next season but I hope we do.
Huffton Posted 3 May, 2011 Posted 3 May, 2011 Beating Bournemouth Taking the **** out of that ginger tw at from franchise fc Hartlepool on a tuesday night JPT?
Saint_Jonny Posted 3 May, 2011 Posted 3 May, 2011 No international breaks is a good one. And being THE big fish this season has been a bit of fun, next season we will simply be one of a number of bigger fish, and if we make it to the prem - one of the small fish.
Coastal Saint Posted 3 May, 2011 Posted 3 May, 2011 Playing teams with real supporters. JPT Leaving games with a smile (cus we have won again) No international breaks. Don't know why but I have enjoyed being in the early round of th cups.
Griffo Posted 3 May, 2011 Posted 3 May, 2011 (edited) A lot of things. Visiting new grounds. Long Tuesday night trips to Hartlepool Winning more games than we're used to No international breaks Terraces. Especially Peterborough's one Being hated by almost everyone Having nearly half the attendance at some away games Sadly, the JPT Edited 3 May, 2011 by Griffo
SNSUN Posted 3 May, 2011 Posted 3 May, 2011 An easy chance of Wembley with the JPT. Excitement. Making Premiership attendances look cack compared to a League One club. Playing clubs we haven't played in years. Aside from that nothing springs to mind. I've been desperate to see us get back to the Championship, I really enjoyed our spell there. I don't even care about the Premiership, as long as we don't sink from the nPC anytime soon. Or ever, ever again. :-)
1976_Child Posted 3 May, 2011 Posted 3 May, 2011 no international breaks and as someone above said, going to small poor clubs and seeing that they still have proper fans even though a Prem outfit is just down the road. Like Oldham. To be honest, I have really enjoyed being in L1. Won't be sad to leave it but it does have its moments.
NickG Posted 3 May, 2011 Posted 3 May, 2011 what will you miss about it ? being biggest and best side in the division and expecting to win every game
saintscottofthenortham Posted 3 May, 2011 Posted 3 May, 2011 Away days at the smaller clubs. The Wotsit. No international breaks. Bompey.
saints_is_the_south Posted 3 May, 2011 Posted 3 May, 2011 Some great away days. No international breaks. Winning most weeks.
doddisalegend Posted 3 May, 2011 Posted 3 May, 2011 As I said on another thread One of the best things about league 1 is it's made us bring in players who for the first time in years appear to appericate playing for saints. Players who have been down in the lower leagues for much of their careers and know being at southampton is a good place to be. Far better than teams of overpriced journeymen and forgeiners that made up our teams for the last few years long may it continue. Also as others have said It's been fun being the billy big ******** of the league. Oh and ticket prices as well.
Judge_B Posted 3 May, 2011 Posted 3 May, 2011 I nearly started a similar thread the other day. My final memories of the Premiership were of players happy to take money out of the club without putting anything back in. Right now it feels like the squad are playing for the club. I want Saints to win every game they play and get promotion from every league, but if rising through the leagues means losing any of the spirit it feels like we have right now then I will definitely miss that
Jonnyboy Posted 3 May, 2011 Posted 3 May, 2011 Playing teams with real supporters. JPT Leaving games with a smile (cus we have won again) No international breaks. Don't know why but I have enjoyed being in the early round of th cups. yeah, fairplay to all those supporters whose teams will very likely never progress beyond L1, they still keep going, thats true support
Thorpe-le-Saint Posted 3 May, 2011 Posted 3 May, 2011 The JPT, no international breaks and terracing at most away grounds.
Rocker268 Posted 3 May, 2011 Posted 3 May, 2011 One thing L1 has shown me is that Saints have one of the best sets of true fans in the country. Consistently having the crowds we have had shows just how many real Southampton fans there are, opposed to a lot of Prem clubs who only have crowds of a similar size due to the fact they are in the Premiership
bubblyone Posted 3 May, 2011 Posted 3 May, 2011 Being able to lounge over a couple of seats and not have to sit with my elbows tucked in for 90 minutes.
krissyboy31 Posted 3 May, 2011 Posted 3 May, 2011 Probably be the only time we'll ever break the 90 point barrier and of course, as long as we stay out of it we'll never be able to take +50k fans to Wembley again.
sperm_john Posted 3 May, 2011 Posted 3 May, 2011 the lesser amount of traffic on a match day trying to get away from sms than champ or prem games ...being able to guarantee a ticket for pretty much every home game on the day (still a probability tbh) ...being at the lower end of english football all the nob head arsenal fans etc all have treated me with added respect for following 'sh1t football' lol
View From The Top Posted 3 May, 2011 Posted 3 May, 2011 Being the arrogant big club. Terraces. Cheap tickets. Winning lots and lots of games.
Turkish Posted 3 May, 2011 Posted 3 May, 2011 Being the arrogant big club. Terraces. Cheap tickets. Winning lots and lots of games. This.
Dr Who? Posted 3 May, 2011 Posted 3 May, 2011 No International Breaks. Unless you are playing 'Plymouth'!!
The Cat Posted 3 May, 2011 Posted 3 May, 2011 Terraces and cheap tickets. The lack of media exposure.
Saint_Mabes Posted 3 May, 2011 Posted 3 May, 2011 I've thoroughly enjoyed League 1 as it represented the 'revival' of Saints. That said, 2 years was plenty and i'd have been seriously bored if we haden't have gone up.
Pilchards Posted 3 May, 2011 Posted 3 May, 2011 Looking over during a home game and seeing a pocket of away supporters trying to keep warm as they know they wont score at St Mary's. [12 goals proved it] Also I will miss the rugby pitches.
Dalek2003 Posted 3 May, 2011 Posted 3 May, 2011 The terraces. In a way the old fashioned simplicity and honesty of league 1. Felt at times we were going back to the old days. Some of the fans from League 1 were 'real football' supporters, knowledgeable, stoical and loyal. No plastics in league 1. Glad to leave league 1, but with some good memories.

League 1 clubs are much friendlier and as you say 'Felt at times we were going back to the old days'.

Don't think that any of those of us who have done away games in L1 would argue with that.
PaulSaint Posted 3 May, 2011 Posted 3 May, 2011 Taking the **** out of that ginger tw at from franchise fc There has to be some Wotsits in the Championship?
doddisalegend Posted 3 May, 2011 Posted 3 May, 2011 Beating Bournemouth Taking the **** out of that ginger tw at from franchise fcHartlepool on a tuesday night JPT? They might win the play offs just so you can abuse him some more......
niceandfriendly Posted 3 May, 2011 Posted 3 May, 2011 There has to be some Wotsits in the Championship? Yeah but probably not as **** and funny as Wotsit though.
Right sider Posted 3 May, 2011 Posted 3 May, 2011 The sash kit, and winning shed loads of games. Being arrogant and not caring about 'non derbies'!
lambertsrightleg Posted 3 May, 2011 Posted 3 May, 2011 Yeovil. Exeter and Plymouth all being in the south west which is easy for me.
