Just said on SSN the reason he saved McGoldricks penalty was because there was a picture of him taking one in the programme and knew which way he was going to go!

Any Tyro u12 goalkeeper would of saved that...most of them would still be on two feet just bending down and picking it up!

Why did Wotton just bang the next straight down the middle...wasn't that the most obvious place it was going to go he made it so easy for the keeper who didnt even have to move.

Quite worrying that he only knew which way he was going to put it from that, or at least it would be if I was a Watford fan.

I'd have thought that a professional goalkeeper would have done a bit more research on his forthcoming opponents than just reading the programme on the day of the game. What if that photo hadn't been in there? He'd have possibly guessed the wrong way, whereas if he'd got a video of our games this season he'd have seen that both Surman and McGoldrick place their penalties in the bottom-right corner.

For the keeper it was probably a question of logic, we had already had one weakly hit penalty saved, the next was 50/50 on a power drive up the middle!.Good players place penalties either 6 inches from either post, hard hit a foot off the ground or take a risk and bang them up under the bar.We might be known as a team who gets their fair share of penalties with Lallana going down like whore's drawers in the box at the slightest touch. I presume the opposition goalkeeping coach would know all about everybody who's ever taken a penalty for us (or elsewhere).Sports science eh, don't ya just hate it, bring back nail in leather studs and knee length shorts.

DM should have waited to get his breath back before his feeble effort and also he was trying (IMO) to make the goalie look a mug after the foul! However Lee should not have been on the pitch.

Wotton's always taken his penalties like that. I remember him scoring against us in a 2-1 defeat at Home Park a couple of seasons ago, he wellied it into the top corner.

Mark Dennis said as much just before he took it on the commentary. That's what he alawys does apparently.

So why didn't he do that again then? thought the keeper would go down to his left expect.

Form the Daily Mail this morning (so it must be true):

Lee, 26, said: ‘This chance came out of the blue and I had to make the most of it. Our keeping coach Alec Chamberlain told me who their likely penalty takers would be and which way they were likely to go. Hopefully, I will now get a run in the team.’

Well it went in that general direction (i.e. to the left), and I'm not sure it's not too much of a risk to actually "aim" the ball at the top corner with that sort of power (Jaap Stam anyone?).

Well it wasn't in the corner if the keeper hardly had to move. As I said, inside the post by about 6ins/1ft is the way, low down or high up, the rest are 50/50 for the keeper. If you miss it might come back off the bar or the post and you might get another crack.

Sorry to be pedantic, but the same kicker can't have another crack at a pen, if it comes off the frame of the goal. Another player has to touch it first...

That was a very general 'you', meaning us (being saints)

I had won tickets for the final if Holland had made it. Gladly I remember very little about the rest of the evening (it probably was very depressing).

Lee is quoted in several newspapers as saying that one of the Watford coaches advised him who the likely penalty takers would be and which way they usually went. What is the world coming to when you can't even trust SSN :(

Richard Lee fact.... He was on Dragons Den and him and his business partner won backing from one of the dragons for their cap selling business 'Dr Cap'.

Richard Lee - fact 2 - He & his dad keep bees. So does Rupert's favourite mate Lord Marchand (or whatever his name is) ..... aka Sundance Beast (or at least some people think so).

Quite right, even then it doesn't always work as Fuller and Delap contrived to demonstrate yesterday, with 3 hits of the woodwork between them from 1 spot kick.

Still as said elsewhere the only reason Lee save McG's penalty was because it was one of the worst ever penalty kick attempts. The girl at half-time had far better technique than Dave (and probably our mascot is a better keeper than Lee).
