So congratulations Brighton. Enjoy the moment as Champions of the third-tier of English football. Your constant crowing of "CHAMPIONS" is like a delusional dimwit screaming "I'm the smartest student in Set 3!!". Maybe one day, you'll be a real football club. Why is he so bothered? His team were promoted and they're champions - in case we'd been allowed to forget. Did he have a fiver on Huddersfield going up or something?

 

Also, it was moved due to international call ups from Plymouth's squad if I remember rightly.

 

It's all very strange. Anyone with an ounce of sense wouldn't have said anything like that. Unnecessary? Completely. I really don't understand what Brighton's problems are with us, I can understand them not enjoying the sight of Dan Harding and Dean Hammond again - understand in as much as there are very few players that can play against their old clubs and be received well these days - but to be so annoyed as to make a banner against our manager and play songs over the PA system towards him? Bizarre.

 

As much as I struggle to understand it all, it really doesn't bother me in the slightest. I'd like to think if I were the manager of a side that had won a division or the fan of that side I'd be more gracious. They're starting to remind me of Bournemouth who, by the admission of people that actually work at the club, have a 'small club mentality' and seem to want to engineer a rivalry with us. It's really not going to happen, so they might as well stop before they embarrass themselves any further.

Because Plymouth asked for the original to be postponed. Why is he talking about Southampton "being allowed"? It was nothing to do with us. And his point about the last two rounds of matches always being aligned in every league is clearly complete ********.

 

We don't care about you. In fact, were it not for your bizarre obsession, and that of your manager, with us you would be getting plenty of congratulatory sentiments. In fact, I think there was a thread on here that did contain a lot of those sentiments. However, you seem intent, like Bournemouth, in destroying any good will and making yourselves look rather pathetic.

 

The man is evidently a bit odd and should be trying to enjoy his fleeting success whilst he can. It will be funny next season when he really does have something to moan about. :) Still, in 100 years time at least the eminent historians of the age will remind everyone who won League One by two points with an inferior goal difference to the team in second and having a record of 0-1-3 against the teams in 2nd and 3rd.

coz we were in deepest, sh*ttiest Rochdale the evening you played D&R/Southampton reserves - i assume your manager and fans can read?

How do you manage to stay so active on there?! I registered and posted a couple of times, but I can't be on there 5 minutes without having my p1ss utterly boiled by them!

 

I fuc*ing love going on there. Basically they are a club thats been down in the doldrums for so longs after being treaten badly by one chairman to another. Finally theyve got a ground where they'll probably get over 10k crowds each season. It's all pretty good as all my family support Brighton and theyve generally been my second team.

 

However, whilst they have the potential to be a bigger club, too many of their fans think they are already the size of the likes of Derby, Leicester, Forest, Saints etc. Its quite funny how dillusional they are.

 

Once you start pointing out the truth they get all upset. Its tremendous.

I could have sworn 3-4 weeks ago that to say the word 'Southampton' in Brighton was to be associated with the Devil, but now you lot only seem to care about Palace? Ah well, I suppose the irony will be lost on you, needless to say, I'm sure we won't see you here next season when you're relegated back to the third tier where a tin-pot team such as yourselves belong. And yes I'm fully aware many Brighton fans are guilty of the same reaction to throw away remarks, but from all the comments on here about Brighton fans moaning I thought you lot were bigger and better than that?

I've sort of looked on them as a second team in the past just on account of living nearby. But if I spend too long reading NSC, I become filled with an insatiable desire to see their collective head rudely plucked out of the clouds!

oh yeah..tell you what, lets make some banners, make it the front page of the programme this saturday, get the PA to play songs about it and get all frothy with anger over it and go on about it for months......that is the done thing with throw away comments these days....right...?

It's bloody football banter! If Gus had said something like "if Saints can keep up with us" you don't think you'd be all over that too? Come on! Football fans are all the same. They all get precious about their own clubs.

If I were you, I would be getting worried at the way that your season is imploding. 2 home defeats and a dodgy draw in your last 3 games is not the way that you would want to see your season end. The way in which a team ends a season is often the way that it starts the next. I would not like to start next season the way that you are finishing this one.

Very true. After playing and losing to us and Huddersfield they'll now be questioning just how good they really are. That's why Poyet is so rattled because he knows that the confidence is being knocked out of them. They also drew against Colchester in the game before this. Also Brighton fans seem to think they are a big club now they've got their new ground (which incidentally isn't very big) and if they start next season badly I expect the boo boys will be out in force further knocking the confidence of their average players.

You got saved by the fixture computer - look how Bournemouth went off the rails once we were done with them. If if we'd played you in March you'd have been desperately trying to scrape into the playoffs.

Interesting to see that versus the top half teams, Brighton are some distance behind Saints and Huddersfield on Points per Game. It is their (admittedly excellent) record versus the lower half teams that has put them top of the table. Suggests to me that whilst they are comfortable against poorer opposition, they will struggle to make the step up when playing better quality teams every week.

 

Indeed, Saints and Bompey have each taken 4 points off them this season, and Huddersfield took all 6...

Advantage?!!! Ffs gus, we didn't want our games postponed. We had free weeks, dropped out of second, had tonplay catch up and lost a couple of games in hand when played midweek. No-one did us any favours. Get over it.

Lets not worry about Poyet - he knows exactly how much he has over-achieved this season (and well done to him and them) because he is already starting the excuses for next season. Their best player clearly knows it too as he is showing no signs of signing a new contract, its hardly a ringing endorsement for whatever is being built there. Our own prospects are much better than theirs so lets allow this to play out and in 12 months time we can look back at this silly little spat with their club with a wry grin on our faces.

Exactly - right out of the redknapp school of management and self-preservation: you can never get your excuses early enough, even if it means signalling to your players that they're not good enough.

Football is all "ifs" though. Look at the final run in, your girlfriends side were unbeaten at home til we turned them over, then they gave three soft goals away to hudds and lost the last game of the season in front of their home fans and their last ever game at the withdean. "IF" we hadnt had a managerial c*ck-up at seasons start and got off the blocks with I think it was 4 points from the first 7 games (?) we would probably have been promoted as champions some weeks back. Brighton have had a good, solid season and the table doesnt lie, fair play to them, but they have had the luxury of a settled squad throughout the full season, which we have not.
