Kingsland Red Posted 3 May, 2011 Posted 3 May, 2011 Excluding friendlies and testamonials I think this Saturday will be my first match since the end of the Strachan cup final season when I will not be anxious until we are at least 2-0 up. Paul Jones and the extra time board meltdowns have a lot to answer for, but unless we go 15-0 down I am determined to enjoy the entire occasion.
London Saint Posted 3 May, 2011 Posted 3 May, 2011 It could be squeaky bum time when the tannoy announces Huddersfield are winning 9-0 at half time!
OldNick Posted 3 May, 2011 Posted 3 May, 2011 I agree , iam actually looking forward to going saturday and may even arrive earlier than usual to sup up the good atmosphere.
jawillwill Posted 3 May, 2011 Posted 3 May, 2011 It could be squeaky bum time when the tannoy announces Huddersfield are winning 9-0 at half time! I'm breaking out in a cold sweat just thinking about that scenario. I hope we get at least a point. It wil be more satisfying than going up on goal difference alone.
suewhistle Posted 3 May, 2011 Posted 3 May, 2011 Do any of you think one or two of the youngsters should get a try out at some stage as I really can't see (cough, cough) Hudds getting double figures? If so, which ones?
Give it to Ron Posted 3 May, 2011 Posted 3 May, 2011 Do any of you think one or two of the youngsters should get a try out at some stage as I really can't see (cough, cough) Hudds getting double figures? If so, which ones? Wont happen as Adkins stated in post match interview - we will remain professional and have a game to win. Same side that started yesterday....but Guly for Chaplow if fit.
sammysaint Posted 3 May, 2011 Posted 3 May, 2011 think he should give the fringe and youth players some playing time so they can prove there worth.
Legod Third Coming Posted 3 May, 2011 Posted 3 May, 2011 think he should give the fringe and youth players some playing time so they can prove there worth. Only if we are 3-0 with 20 minutes to go.
SNSUN Posted 3 May, 2011 Posted 3 May, 2011 It could be squeaky bum time when the tannoy announces Huddersfield are winning 9-0 at half time! Lol a week of wooting and celebration and we finish 3rd. It won't happen of course, records would have to be broken, but it'd be the most almighty balls up in the history of the world if it happened! No sendings off and no injuries and it'll be a great day out.
dune Posted 3 May, 2011 Posted 3 May, 2011 It's such a refreshing change to have done it the easy way. No pressure. I just hope it's a good game and the best team wins. If that's Wallsall and they survive then fair play to them.
Saint_clark Posted 3 May, 2011 Posted 3 May, 2011 It's a bit unfair giving the youth team players a chance to show what they can do rather than the senior players who are on the fringe. The academy lot will still be here next season whether they play on saturday or not, for some of the "back up" this may be their last chance to prove their worth.

IMHO playing anything other than a full strength side would be morally wrong. You've got Notts County and Dagenham fighting for their lives and it'd be bad sportsmanship to play a weakened side.

Agreed, but if we're winning by a few goals with 20 minutes or more left, i'd like to see players like Martin, Gobern and Forte on the pitch.
Littlelat17 Posted 3 May, 2011 Posted 3 May, 2011 I can see Bartosz coming on for the last 20 mins if its comfortable, been a model pro sitting on the bench week in week out, and can see Nigel rewarding him with an appearance. Can also see him giving Lee Holmes and Forte run outs whether from the off or off the bench
bjk Posted 3 May, 2011 Posted 3 May, 2011 Monumental catastrophies do happen hence Adkins refusing to accept promotion until we are mathematically assured so I'm sure we'll approach it professionally and confirm our promotion in style.
musesaint Posted 4 May, 2011 Posted 4 May, 2011 We owe it to the other teams in the League to do nothing less than a professional job ...and that is what Adkins will do
trousers Posted 4 May, 2011 Posted 4 May, 2011 I have a friend who is a Daggers fan and has threatened me with a slow and painful death if Saints rollover on Saturday.

On the other hand, if there are any players who Adkins is not sure about for next season, I'd hope he wouldn't change his mind based on a single performance, I'd hope that he's seen enough in training over the course of a season to not be swayed by 90 minutes
dune Posted 4 May, 2011 Posted 4 May, 2011 Eh? really this season was the easy way? I'm talking about us winning at Plymouth meaning Saturdays game is one big party.
alpine_saint Posted 4 May, 2011 Posted 4 May, 2011 With the pressure off, I would more expect us to be 9-0 up at half-time than Huddersfield.
Huntingdon Posted 4 May, 2011 Posted 4 May, 2011 It appears Walsall are on course to sell their allocation of 1700 tickets We know what relegation is like, so it's a pretty stressful match for them Will anyone feel sympathy for them if we send them down? It will be desperate for those travelling supporters to watch us celebrate, whilst they are gutted at their own demise
