Rut Posted 2 May, 2011 Posted 2 May, 2011 What a brilliant season! For us ex-pats living in the USA it should mean we get some TV games next season. USA TV currently seems to show any Championship game that is live on TV the UK (ie we get the Norwich game today and have had loads of other ones this season). What about in other parts of the world - do you get Championship games on TV? Here's to Saints v Pompey at 7am on a Sunday morning. Can't wait.
maxi_sopez Posted 2 May, 2011 Posted 2 May, 2011 I am living in the US for the year, but will be back for the Championship next year, cant wait! No one seems to really care here, everyone celebrating the death of some Osama bloke.
Redondo Saint Posted 2 May, 2011 Posted 2 May, 2011 Sadly for those of us on the west coast. Pompey games will be at 4am on a Sat or Sunday morning................
doggface Posted 2 May, 2011 Posted 2 May, 2011 What channel are the championship games shown on rut??
washsaint Posted 2 May, 2011 Posted 2 May, 2011 I don't have Fox Soccer Pro here in DC (just Fox Soccer) but may upgrade if Saints are shown much in the Championship. The Internet streaming sites ain't the same! LOve it....will have to go to SUmmers in Arlington next season to watch the derby games (if they're shown on TV) as there are bound to be a number of fat, skanky Skates present
saintdownunder Posted 2 May, 2011 Posted 2 May, 2011 To see the Saints on the tv again in Australia is the biggest part.
dubai_phil Posted 2 May, 2011 Posted 2 May, 2011 Down here they stopped showing the L1 games on TV this season so even when we'd been on in UK we had to put up with cruddy streams. But yes, next year we can start heading back down the pub to watch
Gator Posted 2 May, 2011 Posted 2 May, 2011 i'm thrilled to be watching Saints on FOX. Following your team via twitter and the internet is not the same. Hopefully our improved status will focus the 'professionals' behind SaintsTV - would appreciate the opportunity to listen to the correct game.
hutch Posted 2 May, 2011 Posted 2 May, 2011 We didn't get any of the L1 games here, and don't get many of the nPc games either. We had Saints live twice in the past 2 seasons - the Skates & Manure cup games. But when we're back in the PL, we do get almost all of the games live. We get either 7 or 8 of the 10 games live each weekend, and the others we get "in full" but delayed within 24 hours. So just 1 more year to wait.
ericofarabia Posted 2 May, 2011 Posted 2 May, 2011 Down here they stopped showing the L1 games on TV this season so even when we'd been on in UK we had to put up with cruddy streams. But yes, next year we can start heading back down the pub to watch Considering our past TV record this may not be a good thing of course!! But now we are on a good bus and in a bloody brilliant building things might be a bit better!!
Ozkeith2 Posted 2 May, 2011 Posted 2 May, 2011 I can't wait to get to work this morning - Posh, Sheff Utd & Derby fans can suck it up! If you see me on the Monash (soton3) give me a honk!!!!
paris Posted 2 May, 2011 Posted 2 May, 2011 It means a lot, Saints on the tv not likely until the Prem...
RoswellSaint Posted 2 May, 2011 Posted 2 May, 2011 As Rut says, get to Saints on Fox Soccer, hopefully! Very excited about today.
STEVEADAMS Posted 2 May, 2011 Posted 2 May, 2011 Means everything. Couldn't sleep all night woke up at 6am and had to get up and walk round Daydream island in australias Whitsunday islands trying to get a signal to find out score. Now I can enjoy the holiday. Slightly disappointed with the behavior of some fans but all clubs have some. Just a big relief to be one step back to where we were, a new challenge and progress being made. It now feels like we can finally shake off the bad times we have been thru recently with renewed energy and hopefully a now full St Marys for a successful next season in the CCC. COYS.
Breeny Posted 3 May, 2011 Posted 3 May, 2011 Brilliant ! I get back to about 2/3 home games a season from Perth. Cant wait for next season to start !
Golac's Iron Gonads Posted 3 May, 2011 Posted 3 May, 2011 It means we are only one division away from my South Korean students knowing who the team I support are. Unfortunately they don't show much live on TV here that isn't Man U (Park Jisung) or Bolton (Lee) related, but fortunately they do have the fastest internet in the world so let the streaming start! WE ARE GOING UP!
offix Posted 3 May, 2011 Posted 3 May, 2011 After the Argyle game I was crying my eyes out, and had to explain to my colleagues at work why I was sobbing like a baby in the middle of the office. What does promotion mean to me? It means that I will get a chance to see them more often, either on my own TV or in the English Pub here in Vegas. But that is just a very nice side effect of what it really means to me: that my club, my Saints, are one step closer to being where I think they belong. I'm proud like a new father!
LVSaint Posted 3 May, 2011 Posted 3 May, 2011 After the Argyle game I was crying my eyes out, and had to explain to my colleagues at work why I was sobbing like a baby in the middle of the office. Bless you Robert! It was all a bit anti climatic for me today. Got to work, went straight to the Beeb site to confirm the game started at noon, but oh no, it was all over. Big fat headline saying we had won...and no sneaking back to listen to the game with a brew at lunch. Thank god we get the TV coverage again. I already have FSP as it shows Sky News broadcasts at better times than FSC. Was going to cancel FSC but Directv gave it to me for cheap for a few extra months, but I'll cancel and stick with FSP when the new season starts.
Kingsbridge Saint Posted 3 May, 2011 Posted 3 May, 2011 It means enough to regularly stay up beyond 2 or 3am just hoping someone updates the forum with a Saints goal, or the BBC Live Videprinter gets there first. It also means the Brisbane Saints are getting together for Promotion Beers!! And next season we get to watch Saints on TV a lot more!! Get in!
MDG Posted 3 May, 2011 Posted 3 May, 2011 It means Saints possibly on the TV here in Sweden - but echoing Offix - it means pride in my club. But 'watching' via text updates is worse than listening to the radio ever was.....
martel Posted 3 May, 2011 Posted 3 May, 2011 What a brilliant season! For us ex-pats living in the USA it should mean we get some TV games next season. What about in other parts of the world - do you get Championship games on TV? Here's to Saints v Pompey at 7am on a Sunday morning. Can't wait. Funny you should bring that up, I came to live in the states in May 2004, as you all know Saints went down in the 2004/05 season, as did my fortunes; I had gone into business with the wrong person, to cut a long story short lost an awful lot of money. On top of this my now 6 year old son was born, which of course made things really hard, although he is loved beyond belief; However, I managed to get another company off and running, but with no real money it was a struggle and Saints dropped another league, last year though a big order came in and got us afloat and Saints won the JPT but missed out on promotion, this year I have very large orders now coming in and Saints have been promoted, the bottom line here is that my mine and Saints fortunes have followed an almost identical graph over 7 years (7 years of feast followed by 7 years of famine) so for me that is the best bit about Saints be promoted as an ex-pat, on top of which I will of course see them play a lot more.
Window Cleaner Posted 3 May, 2011 Posted 3 May, 2011 On the TV front it makes no difference to me, they only show PL games in France, in fact probably more EPL games on TV(up to 6 a week) than rench L1 games. The big plus will be that they stop comparing us to the semi-pro clubs that play in what they call "National" as if our third tier with clubs pulling 20K+ gates could be compared to theirs with their 800 persons paying 8 Euros a go..
BigShadow Posted 3 May, 2011 Posted 3 May, 2011 It means sadness that I can't make the opening game of next season. It means a few days of floating around on a high that no-one can quite understand. (Most Americans have no concept of relegation and promotion) It means subscribing to Fox Soccer Plus again. It means a sense of pride at the incredible level of support shown for this club in the third tier of English football. It means we're one step closer to the 'Premyearrrrr League' which is the only thing most American 'Sahhhhccccerrr' fans recognise. It means Markus' dream is alive and Nicola will continue to execute the plan. :):):):):)
ten hours ahead Posted 3 May, 2011 Posted 3 May, 2011 It means I can now go and get my haircut. I always talk soccer with my barber (a Manu supporter). I have put it off for ages as I didn't want to go in until I could say ' we're going up' !
Fan The Flames Posted 3 May, 2011 Posted 3 May, 2011 To those of us in Kent the highlights on TFLS will be a bit earlier so no more falling asleep and waking up dribbling when its all over.
Rut Posted 3 May, 2011 Author Posted 3 May, 2011 What channel are the championship games shown on rut?? Well this year Championship games in the USA were shown on Fox Soccer Plus (a $15 a month subscription channel). This channel also shows some Premier League games and f###kin rugby (why? FFS it's called a 'soccer' channel - I digress). Check with your TV provider. Some cable companies don't carry it. On Directv it is on Channel 621 (and HD on 621-1). Championship games weren't in HD this year but praps next year? We'll see... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fox_Soccer_Plus for more info, links etc...
SanFranciscoSaint Posted 3 May, 2011 Posted 3 May, 2011 I got back from work and have only just finished listening to the game (I live in California). I cannot believe we have actually done it! I am deliriously happy. I want to say a huge THANK YOU, to Nicola Cortese, for having the vision and the balls to take on Adkins when most fans were saying “who?”. A huge THANK YOU to Nigel Adkins who managed to mould these players into a tough, hard to beat, and sometimes brilliant team, who team spirit was incredible. A massive THANK YOU to the players themselves, who never seemed to give up on a game. They have been superb, and even when they were not playing well, they would still dig out results (Saints have NEVER been any good at that!). Finally; the biggest THANK YOU of all has to go to Markus Leibherr, for quite literally saving our club from extinction (I would love to see a stand finally named after him). I would like to think he has a great big grin on his face right now, and I also hope that his family have caught some of this excitement around the club and city, and can see the promise and potential that this great club has. Finally; a club is only as good as it’s fans, and we have the best.
Angus McCoatup Posted 3 May, 2011 Posted 3 May, 2011 The minute the fixture list comes out two return flights will be booked....I need to witness the last two 4-1's be put right. btw anyone know if CCC games are shown in Singapore?
