sussexsaint Posted 2 May, 2011 Posted 2 May, 2011 Woooooooooooooooooooooot!! Absolutely fantastic NC on the pitch. Oh Markus , thank you for this day from the very bottom of my heart
Minsk Posted 2 May, 2011 Posted 2 May, 2011 Thank you Marcus. Well done Nicola, Nige and all the players and coaches. Looking forward to an interesting summer, and doing the double over the phew next season!!
saint lard Posted 2 May, 2011 Posted 2 May, 2011 Im watching the scenes on SSN,i have tears....what a sad bugger i am.
davefoggy Posted 2 May, 2011 Posted 2 May, 2011 brilliant!!! absolutely brilliant!!!!! well done everyone at SFC
beatlesaint Posted 2 May, 2011 Posted 2 May, 2011 In the words of Del Trotter - "well, we've had worse days" :D:D
Dr Who? Posted 2 May, 2011 Posted 2 May, 2011 Fantastic, I cannot believe it after the start we had, and the run Huddersfield have been on. Can we have a joint club record with 6 straight wins come Saturday making the first game of the season record breaking!! I tell you what Walsall will be happy with today's score!!
sussexsaint Posted 2 May, 2011 Posted 2 May, 2011 Im watching the scenes on SSN,i have tears....what a sad bugger i am. You are not alone my friend, at long last they are not tears because of relegation or financial disaster I really hope the Marcus tribute goes well on Saturday
S-Clarke Posted 2 May, 2011 Posted 2 May, 2011 Absolutely fantastic, it was expected at the start of the season but the start seriously handicapped us. The run of form which has taken us into second has been astonishing and something I've never experienced as a Southampton fan. Saturday cannot come soon enough, I'm absolutely ecstatic. Best day as a Saints fan for years.
Fozzybear Posted 2 May, 2011 Posted 2 May, 2011 Totally thrilled. Well done Nigel, NC, the players and all coaches and back room staff. The manager has really installed a winning mentality at SMS, winning week-in-week-out, even when not playing well. What a run in we have had over the past few months! See you all in the Championship!!! UP THE SAINTS!!!!!!!
SOTONS EAST SIDE Posted 2 May, 2011 Author Posted 2 May, 2011 Its PARTY TIME at St Marys on Saturday!! YES!!!
Jackie@home Posted 2 May, 2011 Posted 2 May, 2011 Absolutely fantastic!!! My second side Salisbury also promoted today after winning the play-offs in a penalty shoot out!! Nigel's previous experience was priceless - he got so many things right when it mattered, just great news!!
Saint Without a Halo Posted 2 May, 2011 Posted 2 May, 2011 Fanbl**dytastic wo would have guessed that we would have outsprinted Huddersfield in a Marathon given the unbelievable form both teams were in! Well done Nigel Nicola the players the staff and off course not lease our savoiur Marcus may he rest in peace
Colinjb Posted 2 May, 2011 Posted 2 May, 2011 Bring on the party v Walsall. It's time to celebrate boys!!!!!
Fan The Flames Posted 2 May, 2011 Posted 2 May, 2011 I was sure we would draw one of Brentford and Plymouth, so to smash both games and to go up under our own steam is brilliant. The boys have worked so hard this season but it would be good to get one last win and break into the ninety points, the boys can then go on holiday and NA can go shopping.
SuperSAINT Posted 2 May, 2011 Posted 2 May, 2011 Brilliant. Fantastic. Amazing. Can't really put it into words. My constant Saints pessimism has constantly been blown out of the water by this group of players, even when we've had some pretty nasty injuries. Absolute respect to Adkins and the staff, as well as the players. Just have a huge sense relief. Thank you Markus & Nicola. COME ON YOU REDS.
sidthesquid Posted 2 May, 2011 Posted 2 May, 2011 Just heard that my home-town club Salisbury, who were royally shafted last season , have won the play-off back into Conference South on pens. What a f()cking top day!
rocknrollman no2 Posted 2 May, 2011 Posted 2 May, 2011 Didnt think we would do it this season, but thanks to everyone involved who got us this far. Cant wait till the promotion party this Saturday.
LVSaint Posted 2 May, 2011 Posted 2 May, 2011 Cheers Um Bongo! Didn't realise this was an early k/o. Was getting ready to listen at noon my time! Oh well! Get in!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Tractor_Saint Posted 2 May, 2011 Posted 2 May, 2011 For those that didn't see the Sky replay - here you go
astrasri Posted 2 May, 2011 Posted 2 May, 2011 I've watched the video (thanks Um Bongo)- every one at the club, players, manager, fans seem to believe that we have been promoted - just curious... has that complete knob Blackmore at Solent finally accepted that a win at Plymouth will give us promotion or is he still waiting for the P to go on to the table after Huddersfield have not won by 19 clear goals on Saturday.
Ian the Red Posted 2 May, 2011 Posted 2 May, 2011 Magnificent!! Only to be expected from a quality chairman, marvellous manager, incredible coaching staff and a wonderful squad!!!! Enjoy, and lets party on Saturday!!!
Cestrian Saint Posted 2 May, 2011 Posted 2 May, 2011 Brilliant. Fantastic. Amazing. Can't really put it into words. Absolute respect to Adkins and the staff, as well as the players. Just have a huge sense relief. Thank you Markus & Nicola. COME ON YOU REDS. My sentiments exactly!!! I'm the eternal pessimist but this lot have made me very very happy!
scotty Posted 2 May, 2011 Posted 2 May, 2011 Did we win then? Oh christ, what a feeling, how glad am I that we didnt have to leave it til a last-game nailbiter. Saint Lard, you arent alone, and thanks Um Bongo for posting the highlights. I had to work today, if anybody in Sparsholt nearly clipped a grey sprinter van when it veered across the road around 5'ish please accept my apologies. get in you f*cking beauties and bring on the championship!!!
Cestrian Saint Posted 2 May, 2011 Posted 2 May, 2011 Oh how I wish Connelly's shot had gone in. He's watched from the bench all season and has done a fantastic job when he was needed. Many players who'd been left out for so long wouldn't have been able to make an immediate impact in the way he has.
Lighthouse Posted 2 May, 2011 Posted 2 May, 2011 Okay, I've been making a mental list of the good things about promotion, appart from the obvious of being a League up. In no particular order. 1 - No more round 1 and 2 of the FA Cup against Shrewsbury in front of 7,000 fans at SMS. 2 - No more Paint Pot. Good to win it, but after that the novelty wears off and it's a distraction. 3 - A real South Coast Derby for a change. 4 - Attracting better players. We could bring in a couple more Lamberts and Fontes, instead of Fortes and N'Guessans. 5 - Not having the whole League think we're arrogant, just because we think we're too big for League 1. We are, end off. So are/were Leeds, Norwich, Wednesday and Forrest when they were/are in it. 6 - Not having the pressure to win the League. 7 - Not having EVERY manager we've just beaten saying "They've spent lots of money, far more than we can afford, they should be at the top of the League"
Dimond Geezer Posted 2 May, 2011 Posted 2 May, 2011 Well done to all at Southampton FC. The last 2 seasons have been great, long may it continue. Well done to Nigel Adkins, with a nod to Alan Pardew (whatever the reason for leaving, it should be remembered that the bulk of this team is his). Thankyou to Nicola & Marcus, without whom none of this would have been possible.
suewhistle Posted 2 May, 2011 Posted 2 May, 2011 Whee! The other week I was tempting fate by asking when the first Championship fixtures were so that I could make sure I was in the UK. Might have to stay a little longer than expected but who's complaining! Had to work today at school and then a private lesson when I got home. I'm afraid she didn't get my full attention at first as I kept glancing at the 'puter but at 3-0 even I, a hardened and experienced Saints cynic and worrier, stopped worrying and relaxed. Now on one of my last two bottles of Young's bitter. Enjoy Walsall, all of you! I did plan to come over at the start of the season - I thought it would be an important match - but maybe not quite such a relaxed affair... Can't make it now but the Saints diaspora continue to support through thin and thick! If only there could be an internet feed: please someone.
west saint Posted 2 May, 2011 Posted 2 May, 2011 thankyou marcus and family, thanyou to the manager and players, it has been a hard few years ,but now we are heading back in the right direction.

darren Posted 2 May, 2011 Posted 2 May, 2011 My mate who during the game was at the park with his kids phoned me up to say matt le tiss was there, i would have thought he would be at home following the saints.
OVER THE HILL Posted 2 May, 2011 Posted 2 May, 2011 Hopefully the good young players like Chamberlain and Schneidelin will stay with us now.
saint63 Posted 2 May, 2011 Posted 2 May, 2011 great day out in Plymouth Great atmosphere today and even greater to be promoted at my nearest L1 ground! Shortest journey home. Well done to everyone at SFC. It is briilliant to be on the way back.
