Hypo had a breakdown and got banned. It's a shame because his posts are usually pretty good.

Oh I'm sure it's only a weeks ban. I'm sure also he has friends who will allow him to check in from time to time.

Nile Ranger wanted by Blackpool. Always thinks that he looks quite handy when coming on for Newcastle.

He's looked anything but handy imo.

Classic case of an English player being more physically developed than others his age, therefore tearing up youth leagues and being fast tracked through the system until everyone realises he is technically horrific.

I've heard today that McClaren is already losing his patience with the Nottingham Forest board. They have said however a signing will be made by the end of today.

Yep, on the verge of quitting apparently. He's not going on the pre-season trip with his players as he wants to stay behind to ''get things sorted''.

Sounds like it's gone very sour there quite quickly. They are in serious need of players too, much more than us - they have a real need to panic!

As bad as that? Dear me. I knew he was staying behind to make signings but I was told by a guy who does the press up there that he's been blocked whenever he's tried to sign someone.

My Forest supporting mate told me that any signing made has to be approved by a committee of 5. I'm not surprised they haven't signed anyone.

One of the reasons Billy Davies was tearing his hair out there.

Have Forest still got 75 strikers in their squad?

(Correction - 74 - Earnshaw left)

They only have McGoldrick, Garner, Blackstock (injured till xmas) and Tudgay

Doesn't look that good!

Indeed, and when pressed about this 'transfer acquisition committee', David Pleat got quite narked off on Radio Five Live, saying Billy Davies had been given a hell of a lot of money and not delivered.

McClaren has little option but to stay really. Not unless he wants his reputation over here to take another nosedive.

Pretty much the same here and the majority of other clubs with a sensible structure in place. The days of leaving it to one man are over, which in reality is for the best.

Forest chairman insisted on their wage bill being reduced, which was the main reason Earnshaw left as the contract offer cut his wage considerably. Not sure how they expect to pay Maynard's wage if they manage to snare him.

Striker wise they did sign Robbie Findlay at the end of last season, they also have McLeary and Majewski who play out wide. McGoldrick hardly leads the line though does he?

I hope we smash these guys as the brother in law tore me to pieces two xmas' ago after they stuffed us at SMS.

Pleat recommended McGoldrick (we saw him scouting him several times before they signed him) so he ought to keep his trap shut as he has been utter ****e for them since they effectively paid for Ricky to join us.

Absolutely. I stick by my claim, despite the protestations of a certain facetious poster, that he is the worst player I've seen, certainly in the past four years or so.

Blackpool are closing in on a deal for Manchester United's Senegalese international forward Mame Biram Diouf.

Would be a good signing for the NPC !

Didn't exactly set the world alight last season with Blackburn so I'm not really worried about that

If he was signing from Fulham reserves I doubt people would be so excited! He's pretty average tbh.

Has Routledge joined Leicester yet? £1.5m is a decent price all be it with a huge wage to support as well no doubt.

According to Sky Sports, Matt Oakley is in talks with Derby about a return.

Would love to have had him back at Saints, but i guess not needed now we have Cork.

Would be a decent replacement for Savage at Derby, but we wouldn't need him here now.

Another football-rumours thing, but keeps the topic going....(sounds more believable than half the stuff on there)

Have a close contact with a member of staff at Southampton, we will make 2 signings this week.

It won't be Maynard as people are saying. We only ever enquired (weeks ago) and were shocked at the price they wanted.

The Sharp deal is dead. He wanted a high wage and relocation costs covered for by the club, that was a non-mover as soon as he requested it.

The striker we have chosen to pursue is Marvin Sordell at Watford, a fee in the region of 1.75m rising to 2.5m has been agreed and he will travel to Staplewood in the next few days for talks.

Another target, contrary to beliefs is not a CB - it's another winger. Keith Treacy from PNE is being sought after and we're hoping Mills impresses during his trial so he can be used as a sweeter in any deal.

That should be our business, but we are monitoring the European leagues and a surprise may come out towards the end of the window.

Does sound more plausible... But kind of sounds like he's just made an intelligent observation of some of the recent chat on these boards.

probably! something to talk about though. I bet we'll sign 2 players that we've not even spoken about at the end of all this.

Some of the **** on there beggars belief though:

Southampton have arranged talks with maynard after a 6.5million fee was agreed. Southampton are preparing to make a loan offer for Tottenams Danny Rose. A 2.4million offer for St. Ledger has been accepted and a contract will be offered on Adkins' return from Switzerland.

I think so as well, not necersarily Sordell or Treacy but I don't think it will be Maynard, if it was to be him it would have had to be sorted before the other clubs came sniffing around as that will only push up his price and wages.

He would be a good signing and a great show of intent though. Whatever happens we need some pace to balance our other angles of attack.

And I don't think we need a winger, but will need a CB at the latest by January IMO

Yup! - I love all the speculation. Think we'll probably be getting our seasonal foreign player too.

Hope we get someone in by the weekend.

I think you're probably right - both of these players are realistic targets but that doesn't necessarily mean there's anything in it either. Mind you I was sceptical about our chances of signing Jack Cork so I'll tempt fate again by saying that I don't think we have a chance on either of them.

Doesn't get much of a look in for Bolton any more. Doubt he features much in Coyle's plans for the future. Wouldn't have him over Lallana either. Therefore it's not a signing we should be worried about.

Seems to have lost form a lot. Not sure what his best position is. Scores good goals, but is he a good player? Often poor or average players with a great shot get reputations well above their ability - the Ian Woan effect.

Agreed. But dropping down a level will do him the world of good. I need to hunt down a list of some of our rivals signings and see how they're shaping up.
