Skates make their first signing too,in Norris.

Quite a few clubs are making their moves in the market. And some are fairly well established players.

We do need to start to show some intent in my veiw.Lets not stand still while others move forward now in preperation for the coming season.

This window was going to be a test of Adkins as much as the season itself.

I love how you're referring to the window in the past tense - as in, Adkins has already failed.

Apologies, that was not intentional,at work trying to post quick and concisely, without the getting cought. Also not easy from my nokia n900.

There is time and we don,t know what is going on behind the scenes, just rather we were active tbh than not a sniff of anything concrete.I know we are more hush hush than previously but a bit of reassurance that we are actively seeking a good calibre of player would not go amiss, especially with other clubs moving fairly swiftly.

This is however a very important period for Adkins to prove he can lure the right players suitable for us in the NPC.the jury is out on that matter thus far, imo.

You won't get that anymore though, so anyone expecting bits of news to leak out is going to be disapointed. We've seen it in the last 2 transfer windows, it's players we've not even specualted about that you hear about maybe 1 or 2 hours before it's on the OS - up until then it's done as it should be.

TBF Adkins and co have been on holiday, he's back now working in the BG....but managers don't interview at this sort of time, I can gaurentee that if they did one of the questions would be ''are you close to signing anyone?'' - and the response would be that there are are irons in the fire and we'll know when there is something to know..etc...

It's because the players aren't playing for him, apparently.

Lard is desperate for NA to fail.

Wrong on both counts, sorry to dissappoint.

Well actually regarding the first point,on occasions it seemed they could only play for 45 mins at a time.Unless he was instructing them to play for half a match in a **** poor manner.

HTH.

I think this is the market we should be looking at if we are serious about promotion this season ;)

http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/gallery/2011/jun/03/europes-top-50-transfer-targets-in-pictures

Dont think so somehow - the likes of Cesc Fábregas and Neymar are targets for Barcelona and Chelsea -we cannot compete for wages agaisnt these teams imo

Nice idea, maybe next season when we are in the prem?

dalek i think you should get yourself down to chilworth with your sandwich board, stand outside cortese's house and shout up at his window to make your point. then get on down to staplewood and ambush adkins and yell the point in his face. then you could come back on here and wright your point on every topic atleast another 5 times. i really think you can make a difference and save our season now.

word is we are one of three clubs interested in Thierry Henry, who wants to finish his career in England. You heard it here first people.

Sauce?

past it....next

Haven't seen him play for a while - Always struck me as someone who didn't rely on pace - he had a hell of brain on him... Wait, what the hell am I doing commenting on Henry signing for Saints?!?!

Someone needs to post a picture of the hoover....

You didn't possibly hear that on the frankly terrible football-rumours did you...?

West Ham now in for Ricardo Gardener...Big Sam brings in the usual suspects, the ones he knows will do a job in the NPC.This is where we are at a disadvantage, imo.

They are really going for it.Could fall flat on there arses or storm the league.quite a gamble.

Strangely,it may well be an exciting time being a Hammers fan this season, considering their fall from grace so recently.

I won't bother trying to quote all your other posts, from other threads, suffice to say, we are trying to run the club within our means. West Ham are over 100 million in debt, they are having to borrow money to keep running, is this the route you want Saints to follow, do you really want us to end up like those slimeballs down the road. Be realistic, we can't have players on 50 grand a week, it's not sustainable imho.

We tried that when Uncle George was in charge and look where it took us.

Anyone heard anything more re: Puncheon's situation?

The latest snippet I've heard is that Wigan are interested too, but we're insisting on selling for no less than £1m.

Be a great piece of business if so!

I think we've got a good chance of getting it too. Probably showed enough in his time at Blackpool to start off a mini-bidding war (or so I'd like to think)

Probably won't get a million for him, too hit and miss. Probably he'll return to Millwall and we'll take about 700K to get him off our hands. If he comes back to the group when the players return in a couple of weeks it will cause no end of trouble.

More interested to see what we're going to do with Fish Mills myself.

They've been let go by Prem sides, sure they're going to want more money than we've been paying out over the past few years, but surely few would welcome of a few extra seasons earning less ........else they can all go foook off

Also some good possible signings from that released list:

James McFadden - Can play on the wings or up front. Massively experienced, still a great player at Prem level. Would be a hell of a coup but not unrealistic. Only possible downside would be wages.

James O'Shea - Great young prospect, surprised Brum let him go. Right winger, he's been a regular in the ROI youth teams for about 7 or 8 years. Would be good cover on the wings, could even push for First XI.

Joey O'Brien - Very steady centre midfielder. Quite similar to Chaplow in his play, but more polished (and frankly, better). Leeds are heavily interested but I reckon we'd have a good chance of securing him.

Jan Sebek - Good young goalkeeper. He's ferking massive, seen him play in a pre-season friendly with a Chelsea XI and he doesn't take any sh!t. Far better 3rd choice keeper than Forecast.

John Pantsil - Would immediately solve our RB problem. Would be on big wages, but excellent going forward and very solid defensively. Experienced at Prem level too.

Nikola Saric - Quick young striker. Can also play in an attacking midfield position. Would be good back-up considering we have very little aside from Lambert, Barnard, Guly and Connolly.

Shaleum Logan - Big strong RB. A bit raw, but there's potential there for him to be very good. Probably better than either of our current RBs anyway.

Holmar Eyjolfsson - Can play in defence or midfield. Very versatile, steady and consistent. Young too, and has the potential to progress a lot. Already flirting with the fringe of the Icelandic national team.

Alex Smithies pushing Bart and Kelvin

Sean St Ledger in the middle with Fonte - Martin & Seabourne for the future

Nigel Reo-Coker or Jack Cork or both! To push morgan and chaplow - hammond could be surplus to requriements...

Michail Antonio - interchangable with oxo

Anthony Pilkington - ditto lallana

Robert Earnshaw - different dimension to what we already have

Plus a decent right back. Havn't figured that out yet...
