itchen_dan Posted 25 May, 2011 Posted 25 May, 2011 Giles Barnes and Meite released by West Brom. For an extra option on the wings, I'd take him. Got the potential and ability by far.
saints-cris Posted 25 May, 2011 Posted 25 May, 2011 For an extra option on the wings, I'd take him. Got the potential and ability by far. Think hes a bit injury proned, he had potential, but whether he can find his feet again is another question.
MerceSaint28 Posted 25 May, 2011 Posted 25 May, 2011 Meite would be an excellent signing....powerful, big and strong and in the mould of Jaidi but younger. Would be excellent alongside Fonte. To be honest Zuiverloon is an excellent right back as well and better than what we have got but im not sure we will be looking at RB. As mentioned Giles Barnes would also be a good addition...bags of ability and if harnassed in the right way, he would do very well. Danns - free Meite - free Barnes - free James Vaughan - £1million I think i would be pretty happy with this. I imagine we will get at least a million for Puncheon and £400k for Mills, so we could improve our squad without spending too much.
Dibden Purlieu Saint Posted 25 May, 2011 Posted 25 May, 2011 Would love to see us sign Matt Derbyshire. He's on loan at Brum and returning to his club in Greece I believe. Don't be fooled by his stats, Birmingham simply didn't create anywhere near enough chances, he didn't get a good run in the team so it hasn't worked out. He's still a very good finisher and if given a chance somewhere could prove a bargain. I think he'd consider Championship football and would really add something to our strikeforce. This would be a fantastic signing. Did well at the 'Burn and at first in Greece. Looked like a future England international.
SuperMikey Posted 25 May, 2011 Posted 25 May, 2011 Leigh Griffiths of Wolves is going out on loan to a Championship team for the season - could that be us? He's very Connolly-esque in that his movement is very good and he's a good finisher. Pacy too. Mentioned him a few times when he was at Dundee, Wolves managed to sign him in January for a measly £250k.

Mentioned him a few times when he was at Dundee, Wolves managed to sign him in January for a measly £250k. Hope its us! Was a ridiculously low figure for a player of his quality. Couldn't believe it when i heard it in Jan. Overall, quality player, knows where the net is and is also good on FM 2011
southamptonfclegend Posted 25 May, 2011 Posted 25 May, 2011 Zuiverloon and Barnes released from WBA CDAJFU
Saint Thomas Posted 25 May, 2011 Posted 25 May, 2011 Gary Taylor-Fletcher just been offered a new contract at Blackpool - certainly wouldn't say no to signing him, I think he's been pretty quality whenever I've seen him play - would be short term though I guess, not that many wingers still going strong past 30.
Badger Posted 25 May, 2011 Posted 25 May, 2011 Zuiverloon and Barnes released from WBA CDAJFU Great name.
EBS1980 Posted 25 May, 2011 Posted 25 May, 2011 Tamir Cohen just released by Bolton. Good midfielder for the championship.
petermcpete Posted 25 May, 2011 Posted 25 May, 2011 Earnshaw just scored a good goal for Wales, kind of pacy striker we need and out of contract too. Can't imagine his wages would be massive either.
AndyNorthernSaints Posted 26 May, 2011 Posted 26 May, 2011 Barry Bannan on loan from Villa. Has a brief loan spell at Leeds last season. Or if fit Michael Johnson Man City might be good midfield options.
Miltonaggro Posted 26 May, 2011 Posted 26 May, 2011 Zenden?!? That would be unreal! Wasn't he captain for Sunderland against West Ham? Scored, too. He'd be a quality acquisition and would be a real "statement of intent", to roll out an old cliche. Totally agree. I have a feeling that Zenden could well be the kind of throwback signing (Alan Ball type figure) that we have been crying out for. Just look at the guy's career; a mentor for our talented young midfielders...
Rebel Posted 26 May, 2011 Posted 26 May, 2011 Michael Johnson from Man City would be great - but could we afford his wages? Maybe on loan we could.
yorkie Posted 26 May, 2011 Posted 26 May, 2011 I notice Jamie O'Hara is up for grabs with a £5m deal on the table at Wolves. IMO he could do a job for us!
Raging Bull Posted 26 May, 2011 Posted 26 May, 2011 I notice Jamie O'Hara is up for grabs with a £5m deal on the table at Wolves. IMO he could do a job for us! Already stated he wants to stay/sign for Wolves. 5 mill is a lot for a championship side also
Turkish Posted 26 May, 2011 Posted 26 May, 2011 Michael Johnson from Man City would be great - but could we afford his wages? Maybe on loan we could. Yes definitely, he is what a scout on championship manager would come back with a report of as "you should sign this player at all costs"" Put in a cheeky bid and hey presto he's ours. Any more news on Owen?
Raging Bull Posted 26 May, 2011 Posted 26 May, 2011 Borini from Swansea would be good if the aren't promoted
itchen_dan Posted 26 May, 2011 Posted 26 May, 2011 Borini from Swansea would be good if the aren't promoted Hes only on loan from Chelsea anyway so would be available unless Brendan Rogers could tempt him there on a permanent deal.
Rebel Posted 26 May, 2011 Posted 26 May, 2011 Hes only on loan from Chelsea anyway so would be available unless Brendan Rogers could tempt him there on a permanent deal. Borini would be great but he's already signed a pre-contract agreement with Parma back in Italy
Raging Bull Posted 26 May, 2011 Posted 26 May, 2011 Hes only on loan from Chelsea anyway so would be available unless Brendan Rogers could tempt him there on a permanent deal. Well I guess that's a positive then. Been impressed with the way he's fitted in and performed with them, he has good close control, always knows where the goal is & has a good habit of finding space to shoot.
Dibden Purlieu Saint Posted 26 May, 2011 Posted 26 May, 2011 Seb Larsson. Been released by Brum. Would be a decent signing, can play CM, RB or RM, and has cracking set piece delivery.

Any more news on Owen? Thanks for the sarcasm! But it's unwarranted as I for one don't believe the Owen rumours at all. He'll either stay at Man Utd or go on a free to Everton I expect Michael Johnson from Man City is completely different - he's a lot younger, on a lot less money, lost his way at City and not featured in the first team for a while He will probably leave City this summer to kick-start his career - either on loan or permanently - and may contplate dropping down a division for a season on loan
Pat from Poole Posted 26 May, 2011 Posted 26 May, 2011 Seb Larsson. Been released by Brum. Would be a decent signing, can play CM, RB or RM, and has cracking set piece delivery. Nearly went to Newcastle in January for a salary of about £40,000 a week, if memory serves.
Pat from Poole Posted 26 May, 2011 Posted 26 May, 2011 I notice Jamie O'Hara is up for grabs with a £5m deal on the table at Wolves. IMO he could do a job for us! A Cheating Skate, who is with that perennial WAG Danielle Lloyd. No ta.

Reading between the lines he's obviously had a chat with our super chairman, bought into his vision and is running his contract down at Old Trafford. He's not doing that to join a midtable club like Everton, they dont have ambitions to expand the stadium to 48,000 or move ground and to play in the Champions League.
Turkish Posted 26 May, 2011 Posted 26 May, 2011 A Cheating Skate, who is with that perennial WAG Danielle Lloyd. No ta. Dont be a mug, he's a very, very good footballer. If we didn't sign players because we didn't like their girlfriends or who they played for on loan we wouldn't sign anyone FFS. It's all academic anyway as he'll go to a premier league club.
SuperMikey Posted 26 May, 2011 Posted 26 May, 2011 and FYI- would smash Danielle Lloyd Stewart Lee does a good bit about deciding whether the readers of Zoo and Nuts would still knock one out over a purported racist like Danielle Lloyd. Apparently, they have no problems with it.

Lighthouse Posted 26 May, 2011 Author Posted 26 May, 2011 Seb Larsson. Been released by Brum. Would be a decent signing, can play CM, RB or RM, and has cracking set piece delivery. Would be great, but apparently he left Brum because he wants Premier League football. If he isn't going to play for them, he sure as heck wont be coming to us.

Everton have ambition they just don't have any money! And I think Owen's ambitions are probably limited to starting a game in the premiership once more before he retires!
Turkish Posted 26 May, 2011 Posted 26 May, 2011 Everton have ambition they just don't have any money! And I think Owen's ambitions are probably limited to starting a game in the premiership once more before he retires! We have both. Too much money according to a thread on here. I bet Owen cant get here quick enough, he probably just wants saturdays champions league final out of the way quickly so he can complete his dream move.
EBS1980 Posted 26 May, 2011 Posted 26 May, 2011 What about Henri Lansbury on loan or buy? Not sure he is gong to get a look in at Arsenal but might go to a new prem team. But imagine a midfield three of him Cork and Morgan with AOC and Lallana on wings.
Evil Monkey Posted 26 May, 2011 Posted 26 May, 2011 What about Henri Lansbury on loan or buy? Not sure he is gong to get a look in at Arsenal but might go to a new prem team. But imagine a midfield three of him Cork and Morgan with AOC and Lallana on wings. very decent shout. Looks very promising after last year at Watford and a shorter spell at Norwich (Although I feel he could go back on loan there as he's from Norwich and played a part in helping them get promoted). Seems to be highly rated at Arsenal too, shame Wenger insits on playing foreign ****e ahead of the young English players (ie, Denilson, Diaby and Eboue)
beatlesaint Posted 26 May, 2011 Posted 26 May, 2011 shame Wenger insits on playing foreign ****e ahead of the young English players (ie, Denilson, Diaby and Eboue) We dont want any silly talk like that about Arsenal and young English players around here thankyou very much ! Stick to your foriegn playes Arsene :-)
Chez Posted 26 May, 2011 Posted 26 May, 2011 Seb Larsson. Been released by Brum. Would be a decent signing, can play CM, RB or RM, and has cracking set piece delivery. quite likely to join the Vile, says my brum mate.
Rebel Posted 26 May, 2011 Posted 26 May, 2011 Unless Wenger can guarantee Lansbury first team football this coming season surely he is a certainty for another loan or a permanent move to Norwich. I expect he will sign a contract extension with Arsenal and then go on loan to Norwich for another season. He's proved himself at Championship level - he now needs to do it in the Premiership.
Turkish Posted 26 May, 2011 Posted 26 May, 2011 Think of the service we can get into Owen. Mouth watering. I am sure Owen is currently at home playing FIFA 2011 with himself up front with Rickie & Johnno Quick for Saints and scoring goal after goal from through balls and crosses from our all star midfield. He is probably erect at the prospect of living out his X-Box dreams in the real world.
Bearsy Posted 26 May, 2011 Posted 26 May, 2011 Owen is unproven at Championship level, we should be looking at someone like Steve Bull of Wolves.
Saint Charlie Posted 26 May, 2011 Posted 26 May, 2011 I am sure Owen is currently at home playing FIFA 2011 with himself up front with Rickie & Johnno Quick for Saints and scoring goal after goal from through balls and crosses from our all star midfield. petermcpete Posted 26 May, 2011 Posted 26 May, 2011 N'Gog could be worth a shout on loan. Got lots of pace and with Kenny expected to splash the cash could be sent out to get first team football. Could sign with a view to a permanent move?
Turkish Posted 27 May, 2011 Posted 27 May, 2011 N'Gog could be worth a shout on loan. Got lots of pace and with Kenny expected to splash the cash could be sent out to get first team football. Could sign with a view to a permanent move? Plus we could sing that inspired song the scoucers sing about him, to the tune of Doe a Dear. N'Gog, N'Gog, N'Gog, N'Gog, N'Gog He tucks his cock, into his sock. Great signing for this reason alone.

Not sure where that leaves him.
Rebel Posted 27 May, 2011 Posted 27 May, 2011 he couldn't get in Norwich's first eleven towards the end of the season (starting only 2 of the last 10). Not sure where that leaves him. that suggests Lansbury will be going on loan again - and probably to a Championship club so why not Saints in the case. I woudn't mind getting Sanchez Watt on loan from Arsenal as well. He looked good at Leeds last season. if we do a deal with Arsenal for Oxlade-Chamberlain maybe we should for these two along with Alex back on loan as part of the agreement.
saints-cris Posted 27 May, 2011 Posted 27 May, 2011 For those that have suggested James Vaughan.. SkySportsNews Sky Sports News Sky Sources: Norwich agree £2.5m fee with Everton for striker James Vaughan
