Dibden Purlieu Saint Posted 11 May, 2011 Posted 11 May, 2011 Unrealistic, but I'd really like to see us try a cheeky £3m bid for Felipe Caicedo from Man City.
Thedelldays Posted 11 May, 2011 Posted 11 May, 2011 Unrealistic, but I'd really like to see us try a cheeky £3m bid for Felipe Caicedo from Man City. what, who has just scored against barcelona...?
St BATman Posted 11 May, 2011 Posted 11 May, 2011 Andy Keogh (think Adkins had him at Scunny too) Nathaniel Clyne / Kieran Lee Michael Kightly CMS Mark Beevers / Danny Shi*tu
Turkish Posted 11 May, 2011 Posted 11 May, 2011 what, who has just scored against barcelona...? If this is true, we should definitely put a cheeky £3m bid in.
eastleighhalo Posted 11 May, 2011 Posted 11 May, 2011 Bullard? Out of contract and would require a large wage but willing to take a cut. Excellent call .. id go with this ..and as long as we keep the rest of the squad together we could be right up there challenging.. IMO we also need a target man to challenge Rickie for his place .
scotty Posted 11 May, 2011 Posted 11 May, 2011 If this is true, we should definitely put a cheeky £3m bid in. speaking of barcelona, whats with the freddie mercury avatar turks, are you on the turn?
Turkish Posted 11 May, 2011 Posted 11 May, 2011 speaking of barcelona, whats with the freddie mercury avatar turks, are you on the turn? I know how important Avatars are to some people on here and how much they read into them, i just dont want offend anyone.

Dibden Purlieu Saint Posted 11 May, 2011 Posted 11 May, 2011 If this is true, we should definitely put a cheeky £3m bid in. Man City don't want him. Issue could be a work permit.
Thedelldays Posted 11 May, 2011 Posted 11 May, 2011 Kebe from reading would be a cracking signing.....not much chance but a brilliant signing
bigchrisy Posted 11 May, 2011 Posted 11 May, 2011 I think A LOT of people on the forum are going to end up dissapointed this transfer window.
Turkish Posted 11 May, 2011 Posted 11 May, 2011 (edited) Kebe from reading would be a cracking signing.....not much chance but a brilliant signing Rumour has it Chelsea might be looking to offload a few of their older players in the summer, Drogba or Anelka worth a cheeky £10m bid? latter day saint Posted 11 May, 2011 Posted 11 May, 2011 I know how important Avatars are to some people on here and how much they read into them, i just dont want offend anyone. is that the 1st bite you've had ?
Johnny Shearer Posted 11 May, 2011 Posted 11 May, 2011 I think A LOT of people on the forum are going to end up dissapointed this transfer window. Chill! These threads are always worth a laugh and good to see the sheer amount of possible players available. Either way I'm not holding out for a superstar type player but can dream.
shurlock Posted 11 May, 2011 Posted 11 May, 2011 Hobbs from Leicester worth a look? http://www.skysports.com/story/0,19528,11688_6926716,00.html Agree - v.good player.
shurlock Posted 11 May, 2011 Posted 11 May, 2011 I know how important Avatars are to some people on here and how much they read into them, i just dont want offend anyone. Is Frankie going to Hollywood?
Badger Posted 11 May, 2011 Posted 11 May, 2011 Hobbs spent a season on loan at Scun/thorpe whilst Nigel was in their building.
CWD Posted 12 May, 2011 Posted 12 May, 2011 what, who has just scored against barcelona...? Jesus delldays, all you've done this whole thread is criticise people everytime they've mentioned someone who is a bit 'outside the box'. Give it a rest mate, this thread is about players who CDAJFU, not nailed on signings.
petermcpete Posted 12 May, 2011 Posted 12 May, 2011 Watching Bret Shea for Dallas FC vs Toronto and he looks a class act. I know that league ain't great but he looks a class above. Winger, 6"3, pace power and most importantly a final ball.

People need to be realistic, the best we are going to get are established championship players or at best and if we are lucky lower half premier squad players with no hope of getting a game, or a few younguns on loan. Anyone suggesting the likes of Scott Parker, Shay Given etc needs their head testing.
Turkish Posted 12 May, 2011 Posted 12 May, 2011 Is Frankie going to Hollywood? Frankie can go wherever he wants, live and let live is my mantra.

Joensuu Posted 12 May, 2011 Posted 12 May, 2011 Frankie can go wherever he wants, live and let live is my mantra. But CHDAJFU?
Turkish Posted 12 May, 2011 Posted 12 May, 2011 But CHDAJFU? the half time entertainment would be a much better.
Deanovski Posted 12 May, 2011 Posted 12 May, 2011 shay given said hed drop down leauges if it meant regular football.
Glasgow_Saint Posted 12 May, 2011 Posted 12 May, 2011 shay given said hed drop down leauges if it meant regular football. when/where did he say that?
Window Cleaner Posted 12 May, 2011 Posted 12 May, 2011 (edited) Can't be bothered to trawl back through the thread to find a relevant post but Wade Elliot has re-signed at Burnley for 2 years. Edited 12 May, 2011 by Window Cleaner
SNSUN Posted 12 May, 2011 Posted 12 May, 2011 when/where did he say that? It was all over the gossip pages in January. Here's one link. http://www.mirrorfootball.co.uk/news/Transfer-news-Manchetser-City-Shay-Given-willing-to-drop-down-to-Championship-to-escape-the-Eastlands-bench-article684381.html

CHAZZA 92 Posted 12 May, 2011 Posted 12 May, 2011 I don't think we will sign a striker this summer as I feel Guly has a important role with Lambert next season
Thedelldays Posted 12 May, 2011 Posted 12 May, 2011 After watching the forest/Swansea game... It is very clear we need pace up front and at CB.. Simple as that
Saint_clark Posted 13 May, 2011 Posted 13 May, 2011 shay given said hed drop down leauges if it meant regular football. He wouldn't need to.
Tokyo-Saint Posted 13 May, 2011 Posted 13 May, 2011 He wouldn't need to. Sssssshhhhhh don't tell him that!
Avenue Saint Posted 13 May, 2011 Posted 13 May, 2011 I would sell: Butterfield. 400k Seaborne. 250k Hammond. 650k Holmes. 250k Barnard. 650k Total £4m And buy: A right back. Naughton? Centre back. Kisnorbo? Winger. Pilkington? Centre half. Danns/Ambrose? Cf Cms/long/Graham/Owen? End result: Decisive improvement in quality!
saint_bert Posted 13 May, 2011 Posted 13 May, 2011 I would sell: Butterfield. 400k Seaborne. 250k Hammond. 650k Holmes. 250k Barnard. 650k Total £4m And buy: A right back. Naughton? Centre back. mitch01 Posted 13 May, 2011 Posted 13 May, 2011 After watching the forest/Swansea game... It is very clear we need pace up front and at CB.. Simple as that I was there. The longer I watched the more confident I became about next season, although you're right, Swansea looked good with their pace in the first half. Can also report that the atmosphere was pretty poor considering it was a playoff game, compare it to the two we had in '07 and the City Ground was a bit of an embarrassment last night.

So we sell Hammond & Barnard for 3 times what we paid for them, Holmes for £250k FFS! What planet are you on? he's only played a handful of games since he joined us. ALso check your totals, £4m??! More like £2.2m.

You'd have to renew their contract first, which in the case of Holmes I guess we might not be doing.

Saint Charlie Posted 13 May, 2011 Posted 13 May, 2011 Even Shane Long, quoted at 6m recently. Jeez people haven't got a clue.
Thedelldays Posted 13 May, 2011 Posted 13 May, 2011 Realistic doesn't mean anything. We don't know what we'll do. These threads have ridiculous suggestions whether we're rich, broke, top flight, league 1, and it's the same for most clubs. Signing all the players we did in L1 wasn't 'realistic' by the standards of that league. Getting Waigo and Guly was ridiculous. Now we're a league above. Maybe we have lots of money, maybe we don't, but I don't think we have enough information to say be realistic. No, Parker, Given etc won't sign, but that doesn't mean there can't be a surprising signing or too. no it was not

No, Parker, Given etc won't sign, but that doesn't mean there can't be a surprising signing or too. The only player that was a coup was Fonte. The rest of the signings we made were the best players in L1 at the time or players struggling to get a game in the championship, hardly earth shattering and dont be fooled into thinking Gully and Waigo were proven Serie A players, they weren't. I dont understand why people think there will now be a whole host of premier league players and in some cases international players queuing up to join us as the new boys in the championship. Even the ones bench warming, are they really going to take a 50% or more cut in salary to come and play for us?
Tom & Gerry Posted 13 May, 2011 Posted 13 May, 2011 I get very nostelgic for the days when this club used to make "unrealistic" signings ( Ball, Osgood, George, Keegan, Shilton etc) and ok times have changed but I wonder what our strategy should be now if we are to reach the Prem. and compete there. We can try to sign young improving players but at some stage we will need players with Premier league experience. Should we not be trying to introduce one or two now or should we wait until we are promoted and then have to change things more radically ?
Ivan Katalinic's 'tache Posted 13 May, 2011 Posted 13 May, 2011 The only player that was a coup was Fonte. S-Clarke Posted 13 May, 2011 Posted 13 May, 2011 There are some really really silly players being mentioned in here. (both ins and outs) We will not get owen and for people to then start saying he's not good enough is even worse. We will not sell Hammond or Barnard and I will bet you any money that they'll both be key players and first teamers next season.
MerceSaint28 Posted 13 May, 2011 Posted 13 May, 2011 Yep anyone mentioning Owen and Scholes needs their head checked....silly Now on to realistic players ins Neil Danns and Nathanial Clyne. Both extremely high rated and ran away with their player of the year awards. Would love to see both here, Palarse fans pretty upset to be losing Danns http://www.holmesdale.net/page.php?id=105&fid=1&page=1 I just feel at 28, that is a great age for a centre mid, he is dynamic and can play anywhere in midfield. He has the snap in the tackle, is mobile and is a good passer. Would be fantastic alongside Morgan
doggface Posted 13 May, 2011 Posted 13 May, 2011 Palace have a few which would strengthen us:- Danns Ambrose James Vaughan (well ok Everton) Don't know much about Clyne so can't comment.
Glasgow_Saint Posted 13 May, 2011 Posted 13 May, 2011 Yep anyone mentioning Owen and Scholes needs their head checked....silly/stupid Now on to realistic players ins Nigel Reo-Coker Johan Elmander Henrique Hilario Patrick Vieira Owen Hargreaves & the best bit..................they are all out of contract so FREE!
