sir woody Posted 2 May, 2011 Posted 2 May, 2011 Thanks Mr.Cortese, but most of all thank you to Markus Liebher and family, you have been brilliant !!
Kingsland Red Posted 2 May, 2011 Posted 2 May, 2011 Thank you NC and of course ML. I just wonder if the new Saints since their takeover are a bit more calculated than the old wing and a prayer Saints we were all used to. Whilst the stalwarts expressed doubts about each forthcoming fixture, NA etc just went and won it !
Roger Posted 2 May, 2011 Posted 2 May, 2011 Thankyou markus. You have well and truly saved this club. Next thing to do is to get us back to our rightful place, in the premier league. Up the saints!
NickG Posted 2 May, 2011 Posted 2 May, 2011 excellent 2 years from our chairman. We moan about board getting publicity but I hope Cortese enjoys some of the limelight over next week
Honk Kong Phooey Posted 2 May, 2011 Posted 2 May, 2011 Thank you Mr Cortese for finding us and recommending Southampton to Markus Liebherr Thank You Markus for putting your money into the club. Thank you Liebherr Family for continuing to believe Thank you Nicola for being strong and clear in your vision. Thank you Nigel Adkins, the players and all the staff at Southampton FC As good as this is it is only the first step!!!! Keep the focus
s0108787 Posted 2 May, 2011 Posted 2 May, 2011 Thanks for the ticket tax Nicole. I hope you put the ticket prices up next season too. Given that the club is currently operating at a loss he can hardly be criticised.
david in sweden Posted 2 May, 2011 Posted 2 May, 2011 Thank you I think many of us might say.. .thank you ..for having the courage to change the manager early season...and pick a winner, too!
Fennoir Posted 2 May, 2011 Posted 2 May, 2011 Not on this thread,i put it on the Nigel Adkins thread...where it should be. Must do better.Apology accepted. TBF the thread is about NC not ML. I thought that as you mentioned ML and family in your post that you could also have mentioned NA as I think that he has done exactly what was asked of him. I know that you have not been impressed with him but we HAVE been promoted and COULD finish within 2 points of Brighton. He also deserves great credit.
DECROMAX Posted 2 May, 2011 Posted 2 May, 2011 Thank you Don Cortese.... but I really cant forgive you for getting shot of the pies
Saint-Armstrong Posted 2 May, 2011 Posted 2 May, 2011 Appreciates the two big men. Cortese song at 0:49 - hope it gets BELTED out at SMS on Sat - I know I will shout it!

corsacar saint Posted 2 May, 2011 Posted 2 May, 2011 Thank you Nicola for bringing Markus to our great club, and thank you for the proffessional and business like way you run the club.It is so sad that Markus could not be here,to see his beloved club bring the first part of his and your vision to fruition. Finally thank you for Nigel Atkins.
Joensuu Posted 2 May, 2011 Posted 2 May, 2011 I got infracted for defending Cortese when this board seemed to be fairly unanimously against him. Sure, suggesting that those attacking him were actually attacking Saints, and were in my eyes floating sediment might have had something to do with it... Anyhow, i'm, convinced we are incredibly lucky to have such a superb chairman, and hope he keeps our club progressing at the same rate next season.
Golden Balls Posted 3 May, 2011 Posted 3 May, 2011 Thank you Nicola I've heard that he was on the pitch. I didn't see him. Any pictures anywhere?
LGTL Posted 3 May, 2011 Posted 3 May, 2011 This was at Staplewood yesterday evening... I know the lads in this picture and Cortese said some very positive things to them about the plans for next season.
damers Posted 3 May, 2011 Posted 3 May, 2011 Thank you Nicola. Thank you Markus. Thank you the Liebherr Family. Thank you Nigel. Thank you Saints FC. Now lets all have a Party.

LGTL Posted 3 May, 2011 Posted 3 May, 2011 Such as... I thought people would never ask! "we WILL win the Championship next year" and when asked if we'd have a lot of financial backing to get us there... *cheeky smile* "maybe" Make of that what you will, he is certainly ambitious i'll give him that.

Didnt he tell a group of fans we had loads of money to spend in January though? Really hope so, buying about three really top players should see us do really well next year.
hypochondriac Posted 3 May, 2011 Posted 3 May, 2011 Fans forum every week. Just one a year would be a start.
benjii Posted 3 May, 2011 Posted 3 May, 2011 Just one a year would be a start. I really couldn't give the tiniest of ****s either way.
rallyboy Posted 3 May, 2011 Posted 3 May, 2011 I can't recall our club being in such good condition - big plans, great squad, delivering on the pitch, investment likely to be available, and of course well managed at all levels. If there was a league of the 92 clubs grading fans' satisfaction with their lot, I reckon we have gone in two years from about 90th right up into the top four. Who is having more fun at the moment? Norwich perhaps, but even Brighton can't be as confident about the future - I reckon Cortese has created one of the happiest bunch of fans in the UK. Even the miserable ones who managed to move swiftly from promotion celebrations to fearing a potential increase in ticket prices - that window of positivity lasted 25mins yesterday. We are living a fantastic era for the club - soak it up!

This is why: 1) I bloody love a good fans' forum. 2) I can't afford an extra £3 on my ticket. 3) Nick Illingsworth may or may not have some sort of legitimate gripe with the club.
SanFranciscoSaint Posted 3 May, 2011 Posted 3 May, 2011 I want to say a huge THANK YOU, to Nicola Cortese, for having the vision and the balls to take on Adkins when most fans were saying “who?”. A huge THANK YOU to Nigel Adkins who managed to mould these players into a tough, hard to beat, and sometimes brilliant team, who team spirit was incredible. A massive THANK YOU to the players themselves, who never seemed to give up on a game. They have been superb, and even when they were not playing well, they would still dig out results (Saints have NEVER been any good at that!). Finally; the biggest THANK YOU of all has to go to Markus Leibherr, for quite literally saving our club from extinction (I would love to see a stand finally named after him). I would like to think he has a great big grin on his face right now, and I also hope that his family have caught some of this excitement around the club and city, and can see the promise and potential that this great club has. Finally; a club is only as good as it’s fans, and we have the best.
1976_Child Posted 3 May, 2011 Posted 3 May, 2011 Big Huge Thank You to Nicola. And to the Liebherr family. Great season and nice to finally see the club being managed professionally both on and off the pitch.

This is why: 1) I bloody love a good fans' forum. 2) I can't afford an extra £3 on my ticket. 3) Nick Illingsworth may or may not have some sort of legitimate gripe with the club. Don't forget to mention the whole "he hates the clubs legends/history" thing to! It is a complete joke! The club should have some of the legends on the pitch at half time, maybe get the fa cup team back together for the fans at one of our home cup games. Or maybe put on a legends vs current squad match at St Mary's with WGS as their manager and make it free to get in? That would be a start! Oh wait....

Dont forget 4) He was horrible to some staff 5) Made Lawrie McMoneybags pay for his ticket 6) Got annoyed with the blessed St Le Tiss for slagging the club down in the media 7)Is Italian when he should have been a "Legend" or some local bloke who would let a "fanontheboard" Doesnt like "fansontheboard" 9)Thought having a "club historian" was a waste of money 10)Stopped "intheknowers" from being ITK. 11)Had the temerity to get annoyed with The Echo when they led a campaign against the club. 12)Refused to pay some Pub "Comedian" £50,000 a year (allegedly) to do the half time "entertainment"

Shame about the Le Tissier bit though
manji Posted 3 May, 2011 Posted 3 May, 2011 Lmao, awesome list! Shame about the Le Tissier bit though It is a shame but also true Im afraid. I can remember watching recorded live coverage of the JPT Final on Sky when MLT was an expert pundit and was *****ing about Cortese then.......
Badger Posted 3 May, 2011 Posted 3 May, 2011 Is it true he was on the pitch celebrating yesterday with the players? Solent said so but there are no pictures of it...
OVER THE HILL Posted 3 May, 2011 Posted 3 May, 2011 Big Huge Thank You to Nicola. And to the Liebherr family. Great season and nice to finally see the club being managed professionally both on and off the pitch. Sums it up perfectly:thumbup:
dune Posted 3 May, 2011 Posted 3 May, 2011 The Cortese tax on tickets and the way the club conveniently don't sell tickets until the monday is sneaky. I'm not anti Cortese by stating this btw.
Mowgli Posted 3 May, 2011 Posted 3 May, 2011 NC appreciation thread is fully deserved but I had to smile at the 'top man - joining the players on the pitch'. Can you imagine the reaction if Lowe had done that after we beat Watford to get to our first cup final in over 25 years! Shows what a tough job this is. RL did go through a phase where people thought he was OK and clearly had a vision for the future (not too far from NCs but poorly executred) but he then developed the Maggie Thatcher syndrome and thought he was bigger than the club. I can't see NC making the same mistake but you are only as good as your last season. Sorry for introducing RL to the thread. Just an amusing comparison. Finish as I started - top man Mr C. Thanks for a great season. Here's to many more.
dune Posted 3 May, 2011 Posted 3 May, 2011 10)Stopped "intheknowers" from being ITK. That is imo his finest hour. It used to be painful coming on here reading the "i know something you don't know" hints from the ITK elite, and then witnessing the grovelling for more info. It used to make me cringe.
