SuperMikey Posted 30 April, 2011 Posted 30 April, 2011 I'm currently mid-way through a 24-month contract with Virgin Mobile (15 months in, to be precise), and i'm thinking about changing to a cheaper tariff. I'm currently paying £30 a month for 800 minutes, unlimited texts and unlimited data (up to 4GB I think). While this is a good deal, being a poor student £30 is a lot of money. On top of that, the handset which came with the contract is buggered, and I can't be ar$ed with going through the process of getting a replacement handset from Virgin, so I bought a cheap £15 handset which has actually been great. What I want to know is, would it be possible for me to change to a cheaper tariff at this point (without incurring any large fees or charges) or should I just stick it out until next Feb and get a cheaper one then with a new handset? I'd also be open to the option of switching to another network, although I think I would have to pay up my existing contract with Virgin in order to do that. Any help appreciated! Thanks
Guest Dark Sotonic Mills Posted 1 May, 2011 Posted 1 May, 2011 I'm pretty sure you can change your tariff (unless you are forbidden to in the small print). I have done so on both Voda and O2, but I've never had a Virgin contract. Just call customer services and ask.
marc_saint Posted 1 May, 2011 Posted 1 May, 2011 You should be able to as you are more than 50% through the contract. However you'll only be one level per month. i.e. £5 level drop per month.
