IF we go up on Monday, please bear this in mind. The club could in theory get hit with a points penalty if there is a pitch invasion at the end.

Agree with the sentiments but there is no chance of a points penalty unless the ground is completely destroyed or an end is invaded and there is a mass riot of exceptional proportions. Mere pitch invasions do not bring points penalties.

But, yeah, stay off the pitch anyway because if we win Plymouth will be down so we should show some decorum.

They'd have to deduct so many points from teams it would be a farce. QPR fans were on the pitch today, and last week, and they're potentially getting a points deduction for the Faurlin transfer. If that happens, they could be relegated!

Posted
With all the pitch invasions happening recently, they wouldn't dare deduct points from just us.

I agree its highly unlikely, but is it really worth the risk? Last day of the season at SMS no one will bat an eyelid, just hold it in for 5 days, plus as has been pointed out it would be pretty harsh on Plymouth seeing as it will mean we just relegated them.

Posted

There is no way they can enforce this as the precedent has already been set.

We dont get much cause for celebration so get on.

(barring all goes well and after full-time of course)

I wouldnt want to rely on saying "we can still invade, they cant deduct points from us because they havent from others".

The Football League have already demonstrated in recent times a willingness to make examples of us without necessarily the strongest legal case..

Posted

Not that it would ever happen as many sets of fans have done pitch invasions. But a point deduction for a pitch invasion is a ridiculous especially if at an away game. What can an away team do to stop people running on another team's pitch? Even a home team can't really do anything if enough fans make a run for it. How that can be justified with punishing the club I don't know.

I really don't see the need for pitch invasions at all, why is it better than celebrating in the stands? I'd guess people enjoy the thrill of knowing it is illegal which makes it pathetic really.

...and they then changed the rules in retrospect.

Agree with the consensus of the thread, but even if you could get everybody on here to agree to it there'll be a majority of people at the Plymouth game that don't read Saintsweb. Plus some people will do it anyway, because they're hooligans :p

Regardless, let's get the 3 points first...

I agree fwiw, I don't want there to be a pitch invasion.

Yes they would, just to be spiteful.

Don't forget, -10 points last season.

No, I have a better idea.

Lets get a group of us together, put on some Brighton shirts and invade the Notts County pitch.

Worth a try to get them deducted a few points?

I am of course dreaming and deserve to be shot with a ball of my own ****e.

Some fans have short memories. Remember the graceless Derby fans when they won the playoff semi-final? Plymouth would be relegated by a Saints win so we should have the good grace to celebrate in the stands. Save the 'on the pitch' for the home game at SMS.

In a game where Walsall could be relegated you mean? What about showing some decorum to them? Where do you draw the line?

At the law of the country, where it states supporters shouldn't enter the field of play. :)

I'm sure QPR fans that were on the pitch at Watford today are now all worrying about being banged up.

Personally I think good natured pitch invasions are acceptable. When we beat Sheff Utd I went on the pitch. If we beat Wallsall i'll decide at the time.

Just because someone gets away with something, doesn't make it right.

Dont you dare ever drive at 31 MPH's in a 30 limit MLG, given you being a stickler for the rule book.

It will actually be hard for any Saints fans to get on the pitch at Plymouth. It is easier to contain 2,000 Saints fans at Home Park than it will be against Walsall where they have to watch the whole perimeter. 5 to 10 minutes before the full time whistle the Devon and Cornwall constabulary along with the stewards will all be around the away end.

This forum makes me cringe.

In the last weeks of the season you'll probably be able to count about 15-20 pitch invasions up and down the country, none of which will be punished with a points penalty. Would be interested to know the last time such a penalty was enforced upon a side for the same offence.

Hopefully the first time we will have been promoted in 33 years, people will not stay off the pitch.

Just like they managed to contain those pesky Newcastle fans last season...

i've have made my point about this before.

why on the day we could relegate plymouth do you feel the need to run onto their pitch? i feel this is disrespectfull towards them even though i understand the great joy that would be felt if we won. but why can't you just do it on saturday at our own ground?

It's nothing to do with Plymouth, if we win i want to go on the pitch and celebrate with my team, shame for Plymouth but sh1t happens.

Absurd that you want to compare the two acts.

why? THey are both breaking the law, just because you get away with it doesn't make it right.

I will be on the pitch come Saturday, no doubt about it.

We've got a 2 o'clock start away in the Hampshire Cricket League.

(still unsure who to give my season ticket to, you never know I might even give it to Dune just to see what he looks like in the flesh!!!).

did that bloke in the mobility scooter get done for going on the pitch & his team punished with a points deduction?

save it for next week at St Marys. i want to shout " W*ankers, W*nkers! " from the Northam again.

If we get promoted it will be official on Saturday. That is when the pitch will be invaded and rightly so.

Against freshly relegated Walsall! ;-)

If we go up, I won't run on the pitch, but I will be VERY hungover on Sunday morning. :-)

I will be on if we win on Saturday too.

Although, please don't sing 'on the pitch' because it gives the stewards and police a chance to get in place and it means they're ready for it.

They'll be expecting it anyway. Once a few breach the thin blue line the floodgates will open.

Great win yday so now we can go up Monday, if we win I would rather us not run on the pitch or sing any banter songs Plymouth about going down let's keep in party mood, allow the players to come over and clebrate with us, I reckon it will be a draw at Plymouth anyways.

Then sat run on the pitch at the end as that will be when we are granteed 2nd.
