hoozonside10 Posted 30 April, 2011 Posted 30 April, 2011 is the plymouth game televised? Bloody hope not! And I haven't got a ticket either, don't need the sky curse now thanks very much
SOTONS EAST SIDE Posted 30 April, 2011 Posted 30 April, 2011 Having just looked on the hudders forum most of them still seem to think were going to blow it in the last two matches and all the pressure is on us.Is this the same fans who thought we blow it against the Rear Gunners. KEEP DREAMING !!!
The Cat Posted 30 April, 2011 Posted 30 April, 2011 Comfortable win. I liked the delay in celebrating Connolly's goal as no one could quite judge if his lob was going in. That said, I'll miss standing on terraces if we get promoted.
The9 Posted 30 April, 2011 Posted 30 April, 2011 According to Wiki, the record football league victory is 13-0. So, if Huddersfield match that, we would need to lose by at least 3 goals if we win one and lose one of the last two. I make that about 99.9999999% likely not to happen. When you are talking that sort of probability you are wasting your time - hence the presenter was a tit for even bringing up the "not mathematically up" line. Might as well factor in the probability of being wound up by the end of the season or having a points deduction. Saints ST holding sometime-born Newport County fan protesting at the mention of that 13-0 here (in 1945/6)... bloody Newcastle, though at least it's a jointly held record. The probability means that 3 points is enough.
TheCholulaKid Posted 30 April, 2011 Posted 30 April, 2011 The Saints fans kicked out after the 1st goal from the stand on the right were in our end, stood next to me, 2mins later. There were at least another 20 or so in that stand with us. As the game was such a stroll we amused ourselves by playing spot the Saints fan for most of the 2nd half.
Kingsbridge Saint Posted 30 April, 2011 Posted 30 April, 2011 Paddy Power have us at 1/80 for promotion. Bet Fred 1/33. Bet 365 1/20. The best you can get is 1/14. The bookies think we are nailed on. If we win at Plymouth on Monday (8/13) then I think we're up!!
southamptonfclegend Posted 30 April, 2011 Posted 30 April, 2011 we were amazing today, still annoyed at whoever said it was 3-2 to Brighton, thought we were going up
Dr Who? Posted 30 April, 2011 Posted 30 April, 2011 Bloody hope not! And I haven't got a ticket either, don't need the sky curse now thanks very much It was going to be on tv before it was re-arranged, but no it is not now. But hey the sky curse has now gone since we disatched Sheff Wednesday!
scotty Posted 30 April, 2011 Posted 30 April, 2011 we were amazing today, still annoyed at whoever said it was 3-2 to Brighton, thought we were going up Yes, solent said the same thing, there was apparently some confusion.
Dr Who? Posted 30 April, 2011 Posted 30 April, 2011 we were amazing today, still annoyed at whoever said it was 3-2 to Brighton, thought we were going up That is completely out of order and must have been something of a chinese whisper, I could not imagine any true Saints fan doing this to another on purpose and something I would not dream of doing at any time, far to important.
Dark Munster Posted 30 April, 2011 Posted 30 April, 2011 And of course the REALLY good news is that Playmuff have to beat us so they cannot simply park the bus and hope for a draw. That will do nicely, although Reidy is a crafty old sod and may still try that with the break out play. Or if they go 1-0 up early they can then park the bus.
The9 Posted 30 April, 2011 Posted 30 April, 2011 It was going to be on tv before it was re-arranged, but no it is not now. But hey the sky curse has now gone since we disatched Sheff Wednesday! No it wasn't, for the 9 zillionth time. It was initially rearranged from 3pm to avoid kicking off at the same time as the Wales v England internationals to 12:45pm, then postponed due to Plymouth's call ups. It was NEVER scheduled to be on tv. And there was never a Sky curse, we won plenty of tv matches last season and in the CCC play-off season.
OttawaSaint Posted 1 May, 2011 Posted 1 May, 2011 Great win, shame about the bummers letting in a last minute goal. I might have known they'd open up and let someone slip in behind them...
torsaint Posted 1 May, 2011 Posted 1 May, 2011 Sitting with the Brentford supporters, I was struck by their lack of knowledge of football. Every time one of our players went down they were tarts but every time one of their players went down it was a penalty. Their constant exhhortation was to hump the ball forward but they failed to notice that Fonte and Jaidi simply headed it back. There were thousands of empty seats but it made me proud to see and hear the Saints supporters.
alehouseboys Posted 1 May, 2011 Posted 1 May, 2011 Apparently they battered Huddersfield for the whole game, hardly rolling over. ...and still let in 3! Bit tongue-in-cheek...but...did you see that defending? http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/b0111cm0/The_Football_League_Show_2010_2011_Episode_39 Saints goals and Brighton's shocking defending from 0:38.45 Nice to see 'udders gave them a guard of honour too... BTW...35 years ago today we were running round Wembley with the cup.

sadoldgit Posted 1 May, 2011 Posted 1 May, 2011 A great win made to feel like a draw because of a bad sport baboon-faced South American an his cohort of cheats. As long as we keep focused on our game and not worry about anyone else, this should only be a 48hrs delay. We would have needed another point anyway without Huudersfields third goal, and playing for a draw is dangerous. I bet you were a wow in the school playground Alps. Nice to see that you have lost none of your spite and mean spirtiness. I am guessing that, as we are all descended from monkeys, we all have some kind of "baboon face" thing going on. We won again yesterday and are within a hair's breath of promotion. Time to be happy perhaps?
Saint Luke Posted 1 May, 2011 Posted 1 May, 2011 game of two halfs as already stated, 1st half we could have taken on barcelona, 2nd half......basingstoke more like what annoyed me was the 3-4000 empty seats in the ground. My view from from the home terrace highlighted the killing Brentford could have made should they given saints more tickets, and given the opportunity to another few thousand noisy saints fans. only noticed a couple of fellow saints in the home terrace/seating areas, a real shame.COYR But as you probably don't know is that they can not segregate stands as each stand only has one entrance off the surrounding streets. They either give us two whole stands or only 1. I was in the home end and managed to keep calm as a mark of respect to my Brentford mate who got me the ticket.
suewhistle Posted 1 May, 2011 Posted 1 May, 2011 what annoyed me was the 3-4000 empty seats in the ground. For all the talk about football clubs' parlous finances they don't do much to help themselves, do they? How many more would Saints have taken? Worth another 25 - 50k plus catering sales and programmes? Less the cost of a few extra stewards, perhaps? Monday is not a holiday here so I'm working and will be rushing home to listen to the commentary. Ah, just remembered I have a private lesson when I get home - I'm sure she'll come half hour later than usual! Off to text!
Saint Luke Posted 1 May, 2011 Posted 1 May, 2011 First half was a stroll, Brentford fans were appalled at how badly they were playing. Gobern was poor when he came on but Adkins and AC kept talking to him and telling him what to do. Even Connolly wanted Gobern taken off and told the bench what he thought when we brought on Butterfield. Was pleased for Gobern to score as he just kept on trying and it repaid the faith that the manager and coaches showed in him. We could have scored so many more in the first half.
Super_Uwe Posted 1 May, 2011 Posted 1 May, 2011 Looks like being an interesting week to come. I've said all along that it would go down to the last weekend, although I'm pleased we will have the opportunity to put this one to bed a week early. My in-laws are Argyle fans so it's either them or me who are going to be disappointed after tomorrow's game! You have to give credit to Huddersfield as well; they could well end up with 89 points and not go up automatically. Their form has been magnificent and goes to show how well we have actually done. I really hope we can do the job tomorrow, but if we don't then it's all down to the last day. Not great for the nerves but in some ways wouldn't it be great if we can finish the job off on our own turf?
saint_jas Posted 1 May, 2011 Posted 1 May, 2011 Missed the last 20 mins of the game having to attend a bloody BBQ, where it rained a bit in Plymouth... But fantastic result and can't wait for tomorrow now.

Even Connolly wanted Gobern taken off and told the bench what he thought when we brought on Butterfield. were you sitting near the dug out then? I can't imagine Connelly made his feelings known about Gobern (if they actually were his feelings).
shurlock Posted 1 May, 2011 Posted 1 May, 2011 The penalty was outside the box. The ref was useless. Thought so as well - the initial point of contact was outside, though the run took him inside. Connelly had a more than decent shout for a pen in the 2nd half down by the left hand side of the box.

We could have scored so many more in the first half. I hope he didn't. It's a team game I'd rather hope an experinced veteran like Connolly would help out a young inexperinced player like Gobern rather than giving him a hard time and telling the manager how to do his job. Prehaps that's why Connolly hasn't played much despite claiming he has been fit for months....................
Griffo Posted 1 May, 2011 Posted 1 May, 2011 Even Connolly wanted Gobern taken off and told the bench what he thought when we brought on Butterfield.. Explain?
View From The Top Posted 1 May, 2011 Posted 1 May, 2011 Connelly had a more than decent shout for a pen in the 2nd half down by the left hand side of the box. Nah, it was right in front of me and never a pen'.
