Appy Posted 28 April, 2011 Posted 28 April, 2011 What has been your best moment of our season so far? Home and Away. We have our defining 3 games coming up, but before the euphoria or the devestation kicks in, What moment have you enjoyed the most from this season so far? Home: For me it has to be Barnard's winner against MK, what a comeback. Away: The moment Fonte's header landed in against Brighton.
doddisalegend Posted 28 April, 2011 Posted 28 April, 2011 well you've picked the two best. Chaplow's goal against ManU was ****ing good though
kwsaint Posted 28 April, 2011 Posted 28 April, 2011 The oppointment of Nigel Adkins sticks out for me
CWD Posted 28 April, 2011 Posted 28 April, 2011 Home: For me it has to be Barnard's winner against MK, what a comeback. Away: The moment Fonte's header landed in against Brighton. You've named them. Even though I wasn't present for either, they were the most I've ever shouted and cheered over a football match.
Nexstar Posted 28 April, 2011 Posted 28 April, 2011 Yep, the two mentioned by Appy. Other notables for me were Hammond's goal v Posh (away), Chaplow v United and knowing the trip to Oldham on a tuesday was actually worthwhile...
Colinjb Posted 28 April, 2011 Posted 28 April, 2011 Barnard's winner v the Franchise. Forte's couple turned it around but when Barnard's went in..... I really started believing we could actually go up.
RedAndWhite91 Posted 28 April, 2011 Posted 28 April, 2011 MK Dons at home. Oldham away (or what I can remember of it). That winner at Brighton. There have been many quality moments this season, wouldn't be able to name just one.

doddisalegend Posted 28 April, 2011 Posted 28 April, 2011 Making that tit Holloway all upset was good too "PL you're having a laugh"
beatlesaint Posted 28 April, 2011 Posted 28 April, 2011 Putting the fear of God up Man Utd for almost an hour on national TV was pretty good. But the comeback against MK Dons was it for me.
RedAndWhite91 Posted 28 April, 2011 Posted 28 April, 2011 How could i forget Rickie's free kick at Bompey? Yeah that's up there! Celebrating down the front of the stand was class that day. Another quality moment.
Dr Who? Posted 28 April, 2011 Posted 28 April, 2011 (edited) Home - Rochdale Away - Rochdale Please do not let us have to play them again next season!! Seriously for games I have been to Oldham Home was a good turn around Colchester away just to beat them!! Edited 28 April, 2011 by Dr Who?
scotty Posted 28 April, 2011 Posted 28 April, 2011 (edited) well you've picked the two best. Chaplow's goal against ManU was ****ing good though agree with Barnards winner against the franchise, and the stupefied amazement/elation I felt when I found out that we had beaten brighton from a goal down at the withdean, but the roar that went up round SMS when chaplow thumped that one in against Manchester United FC will stay with me forever. The guy behind me actually threw his arms round my neck and hugged me, I'm still hoping he was just pleased about the goal. Edited 28 April, 2011 by scotty ...
NickG Posted 28 April, 2011 Posted 28 April, 2011 Making that tit Holloway all upset was good too "PL you're having a laugh" hopefully in few months we can sing "PL you were having a laugh"
SuperMikey Posted 28 April, 2011 Posted 28 April, 2011 Chaplow's goal against United was a great moment - standing right next to their fans and giving it large to them for the next half an hour was brilliant especially as they had been reet *****s up until that point. Shut them up for a bit!

Lighthouse Posted 28 April, 2011 Posted 28 April, 2011 For me it was Forte's second against the Dons. By the time Barnard scored I believed we could win the game, but those two goals from Forte really came out the blue. To go from hopeless to believing we'd go up, in about 2 minutes, was just magic.
John Boy Saint Posted 28 April, 2011 Posted 28 April, 2011 Hard to pick one from those already mentioned above, Oxo's cheeky double chip from a silly angle to score 2 (plus giving the ball back to the ref with pace catching him unawares). My real moment(s) are the periods of delicious footballing passing prowess we display in so many games this season, I have sat there so many times this season pinching myself to check that It really is my Southampton out on the pitch.
saints-cris Posted 28 April, 2011 Posted 28 April, 2011 Fonte's header against Brighton. I cant think of any better way to have shut those mongs down the coast up. A potentially promotion winning goal. I dont get bored of watching this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4-2xoR-fTes&feature=channel_video_title
SaintNeil90 Posted 28 April, 2011 Posted 28 April, 2011 Alan Carr, Alan Carr, Alan Carr ...! FFFFllliinnnnddderrrsss
Thedelldays Posted 28 April, 2011 Posted 28 April, 2011 huddersfield player missing the sitter of the century that would have put them 2-0 up at SMS

You sure you're not just getting us confused with Dagenham and Redbridge?
Colinjb Posted 28 April, 2011 Posted 28 April, 2011 huddersfield player missing the sitter of the century that would have put them 2-0 up at SMS Oh god, what a difference that would have made. We literally never looked back...... And once they got over the shock, neither did they.
Thedelldays Posted 28 April, 2011 Posted 28 April, 2011 Oh god, what a difference that would have made. We litterally never looked back...... And once they got over the shock, neither did they. which is bloody annoying
scotty Posted 28 April, 2011 Posted 28 April, 2011 ... People died, what's wrong with you? Sorry Chap, that's deeply wrong. I take it youve been watching the bobby charlton programme on the telly. Force of habit, I used to live there. (manchester, not munich)
Colinjb Posted 28 April, 2011 Posted 28 April, 2011 which is bloody annoying Absolutely. If they continue that run and don't go up, I will genuinely feel for them..... To go that long unbeaten, and still miss out. Horrible.
Colinjb Posted 28 April, 2011 Posted 28 April, 2011 I take it youve been watching the bobby charlton programme on the telly. Force of habit, I used to live there. (manchester, not munich) More common decency.... but ok.

saints-cris Posted 28 April, 2011 Posted 28 April, 2011 huddersfield player missing the sitter of the century that would have put them 2-0 up at SMS lol, still dont have a clue how he missed from there. Bless you Scott Arfield.
Appy Posted 28 April, 2011 Author Posted 28 April, 2011 Kelvin's penalty save against Brighton was a nice moment too.
scotty Posted 28 April, 2011 Posted 28 April, 2011 More common decency.... but ok. Even if it wasn't on, its pretty sick. Tell you what, next time they play liverpool, why dont you go and listen to them chanting "Hillsborough Orphans" towards the away fans? Which they do each and every time they play them?
Colinjb Posted 28 April, 2011 Posted 28 April, 2011 Tell you what, next time they play liverpool, why dont you go and listen to them chanting "Hillsborough Orphans" towards the away fans? Which they do each and every time they play them? Yes, that makes it absolutely fine.
scotty Posted 28 April, 2011 Posted 28 April, 2011 Yes, that makes it absolutely fine. I'm just saying they arent exactly precious about it. Theres a certain element of dislike for manchester united in this country's footballing community, hard to discern, but its there...

Fan The Flames Posted 28 April, 2011 Posted 28 April, 2011 (edited) The winner against MK Cons was brilliant. The second against LO away was joyous for the shear relief and the ten minutes of singing afterwards. Edited 28 April, 2011 by Fan The Flames

Theres a certain element of dislike for manchester united in this country's footballing community, hard to discern, but its there... I am lost for words..... are you really still trying to justify that horrific slur by relating it to general dislike to Man Utd's standing?
scotty Posted 28 April, 2011 Posted 28 April, 2011 I'm sure that isn't sung by family members of the munich dead and vice versa. I wouldnt know, but its a regular chant sung by most of their crowd. The scousers sing something about the air disaster back at them, to the johnny comes marching home tune.
scotty Posted 28 April, 2011 Posted 28 April, 2011 I am lost for words..... are you really still trying to justify that horrific slur by relating it to general dislike to Man Utd's standing? post edited, sorry for hurting your feelings. I will in future do as most others on this forum and refer to them as ManUre.
Fan The Flames Posted 28 April, 2011 Posted 28 April, 2011 Also, 'There's only one Harold Shipman....., the scousers give thanks cos he only kills mancs, living in a...........'
The9 Posted 28 April, 2011 Posted 28 April, 2011 Ever heard the saying "two wrongs don't make a right?"... It's basically pathetic namecalling on the most tasteless level, and we're all better off out of it. Going back to the point, I quite enjoyed us passing the ball around for a couple of minutes against Man U just after half time. Not the instant gratification of he Brighton winner, Lambert's free-kick at Bournemouth or the comeback against MK, but we looked Prem class for a little while there. What makes me laugh is not a single person has mentioned us beating a Prem club in the FA Cup .
Colinjb Posted 28 April, 2011 Posted 28 April, 2011 not a single person has mentioned us beating a Prem club in the FA Cup . To be fair, they're having a laugh.
steadyeddie Posted 28 April, 2011 Posted 28 April, 2011 Top three in any order : Jose's winner at Sore Loser Poyet's Brighton - I think everyone in Romsey heard me celebrate Barnard's winner against Mk - What a great comeback Barnard's against Orient - In nearly 40 years of following Saints, one of the best away day trips - EVER!!

rich saints Posted 28 April, 2011 Posted 28 April, 2011 brighton it has to be at the front late goal and pushed onto the pitch great day and great day out
kelkel31 Posted 28 April, 2011 Posted 28 April, 2011 possible the definitive defining moment of the season has to be the win away at bompey, not for any self satisfying putting them in there place(thou that was great!) but if you look at the table before the game and the effect a loss could have had and may have made the season look very different. then you add the comeback against franchise fc in a similar scenario you get to the point where we all start to believe we could do this
itchen_dan Posted 28 April, 2011 Posted 28 April, 2011 brighton it has to be at the front late goal and pushed onto the pitch great day and great day out Pushed onto the pitch?! Who pushed you? Steve Backley?! You were miles away from the pitch!
sfc1971 Posted 28 April, 2011 Posted 28 April, 2011 I have a best and worst in a strange order. Worst, Pardew getting the sack and Nige getting the Job. Best, Nige getting the Job and Pardew getting the sack. Work that out ???
