Wills and Kate - Be Careful!! May Offend!

So its 'a work of art' if it offends British People? and if it offended other cultures you will jump back on your tedious high horse.

Obviously not a work of art, just an amusing spoof video. I guess those who might be offended just won't watch it.

Won't stop it getting pulled eventually though because someone must own the copyright to the original background.

2 people on this thread have expressed their offence at it, surely if we are to follow Joensuu principles that i should change my avatar in case of unintentional offence then this link should be removed.

Had me giggling like a schoolgirl. Brilliant.

I doubt it'll be up for another 48 hours on YouTube though.

I am not surprised at someone of your age giggling at silly rude jokes and the words "co*k" and "dildo" being mentioned.

I am just speaking for everyone else. I am offended for everyone else, even those that wont see it, just in case they might be, that is how we roll on here, okay.

Sounds fair enough to me. A bit like taking offence at Bashar al-Assad, despite not personally being affected by his actions?

As you are well aware, art is entirely subjective. I personally don't go for cows in formaldehyde, and much prefer a bit a satire. Nothing to do with whether people are British or not.

And no doubt, the editors of You Tube will agree with you, why not fire them a quick email?

Well actually a lot of people would find that offensive but I am not going to tell people what they can or cannot laugh at. Sadly this is not the approach of the PC gestapo. You often fall into this camp. But that is very much a Guardian readers trait.

I'm 43 & it made me chuckle. When you stop finding these things funny it's the slippery slope to Grumpyville.

Of course it's funny, just like Monty Python, Not the 9 o' clock news and Morcambe and Wise, who spent most of the time taking the p*ss out of Des O'Connor. It's Satire, the basis of most British Comedy.

Quite right - no need for censorship in comedy.

Could you point me to an example of where I have told people what to or what not to laugh at?

You have hinted that Turkish's avatar may be very sinister. - but you are prepared to give him the benefit of the doubt.

Hmm, a 'hint' hey? I'm not sure I actually went that far, I made no accusations, gave him the benefit of the doubt, and avoided jumping to any conclusions. I think the very fact that I didn't get offended or tell him what to laugh at (or not) seems to have annoyed him even more.

Yes but if it featured the Japanese Royal Family you and the rest of the liberal illiberal would be calling for it to be banned and arrests to be made.

The humour is derived from the incongruence between their social status and the act of anal sex. I fail to see how this has anything to do with 'race' and find it absurd that chest-puffing nationalists are getting so precious about something that likely occurred to them when they were young. Perhaps that's where the offence is caused.

Depending upon the context, then er, maybe.

For example: a satire of members of the Imperial Family would be fine. Associating negative stereotypes with the comedy far less so. Implying anything negative about race, most certainly not.

Yes a hint in a sort of politically correct policemans sort of way suggesting you could be sensing there could be 'perceived racism' way. 'Run along son on this occasion but I am watching you'.

I didn't find it funny, maybe I'm already in Grumpyville :(

I think I managed to watch about 40 seconds of it before I closed the window, it just became a little bit obvious after the first 15 or 20 seconds.

The kind of thing I suspect will have Deppo rolling on the floor holding his ribs.

Unsurprisingly, people like BTF, SuperMikey etc are p*ssing themselves over it , i'm sure they'd be condeming it if someone had done this for the King of Sudans wedding.

What if people found it funny. What sort of measures would you advocate?

The thread is now becoming funnier than the video.

Irrespective of other accusations, one thing most people seem to have in common is that they just can't help replying one more time, to make one more little point or to try and get a snide comment in.

What actually is the point of most of the conversation on this thread now?

And yes, I know could ignore it, but I'm genuinely interested because I struggle to understand what motivation some of you have for seeking to constantly wind others up and/or having a go at each other. A bit sad surely...?

In my eyes, this thread started as a bit of puerile fun. If you liked it, great, if not, so be it... and yet here we are with all sorts of crap!

The humour has nothing to do with race. Absolutely nothing.
