Sheaf Saint Posted 28 April, 2011 Posted 28 April, 2011 Surprised it hasn't been taken down already TBH!
Turkish Posted 28 April, 2011 Posted 28 April, 2011 I find it offensive and i expect most on this board will.
Joensuu Posted 28 April, 2011 Posted 28 April, 2011 Work of art. Anyone want to open a book on how long it stays up?
Window Cleaner Posted 28 April, 2011 Posted 28 April, 2011 I find it offensive and i expect most on this board will. Strange for someone named after a character from Snatch really.
SuperMikey Posted 28 April, 2011 Posted 28 April, 2011 Had me giggling like a schoolgirl. Brilliant. I doubt it'll be up for another 48 hours on YouTube though.
Dimond Geezer Posted 28 April, 2011 Posted 28 April, 2011 Lol at the right-winger thinking it unfunny, yet when someone 'mocks' the Chinese it's ok. FWIW i see no harm in either.
dune Posted 28 April, 2011 Posted 28 April, 2011 Lol at the right-winger thinking it unfunny, yet when someone 'mocks' the Chinese it's ok. FWIW i see no harm in either. Where did I state it was OK to laugh at Chinese people?
Dimond Geezer Posted 28 April, 2011 Posted 28 April, 2011 Where did I state it was OK to laugh at Chinese people? Where did I state I was referring to you. However, if the cap fits ..............
bridge too far Posted 28 April, 2011 Posted 28 April, 2011 Where did I state I was referring to you. However, if the cap fits .............. Would that be a DUNcE's hat?
scotty Posted 28 April, 2011 Posted 28 April, 2011 thats funny, consider it forwarded to points north, south, east and west. I hope its still on youtube tomorrow so I can watch it during the wedding

Pancake Posted 28 April, 2011 Posted 28 April, 2011 I find it offensive and i expect most on this board will. never had you down as a prude, Turkey.
Turkish Posted 28 April, 2011 Posted 28 April, 2011 never had you down as a prude, Turkey. I am just speaking for everyone else, apparantly this is okay on here when you disagree or dont understand something.
Joensuu Posted 28 April, 2011 Posted 28 April, 2011 I am just speaking for everyone else, apparantly this is okay on here when you disagree or dont understand something. You disagree with or don't understand this video?
Turkish Posted 28 April, 2011 Posted 28 April, 2011 You disagree with or don't understand this video? I am just speaking for everyone else. I am offended for everyone else, even those that wont see it, just in case they might be, that is how we roll on here, okay.
Sergei Gotsmanov Posted 28 April, 2011 Posted 28 April, 2011 Work of art. Anyone want to open a book on how long it stays up? So its 'a work of art' if it offends British People? and if it offended other cultures you will jump back on your tedious high horse.
Window Cleaner Posted 28 April, 2011 Posted 28 April, 2011 So its 'a work of art' if it offends British People? and if it offended other cultures you will jump back on your tedious high horse. Obviously not a work of art, just an amusing spoof video. I guess those who might be offended just won't watch it. Won't stop it getting pulled eventually though because someone must own the copyright to the original background.
Turkish Posted 28 April, 2011 Posted 28 April, 2011 So its 'a work of art' if it offends British People? and if it offended other cultures you will jump back on your tedious high horse. 2 people on this thread have expressed their offence at it, surely if we are to follow Joensuu principles that i should change my avatar in case of unintentional offence then this link should be removed.
Turkish Posted 28 April, 2011 Posted 28 April, 2011 Had me giggling like a schoolgirl. Brilliant. I doubt it'll be up for another 48 hours on YouTube though. I am not surprised at someone of your age giggling at silly rude jokes and the words "co*k" and "dildo" being mentioned.
Joensuu Posted 28 April, 2011 Posted 28 April, 2011 I am just speaking for everyone else. I am offended for everyone else, even those that wont see it, just in case they might be, that is how we roll on here, okay. Sounds fair enough to me. A bit like taking offence at Bashar al-Assad, despite not personally being affected by his actions?
Joensuu Posted 28 April, 2011 Posted 28 April, 2011 So its 'a work of art' if it offends British People? and if it offended other cultures you will jump back on your tedious high horse. As you are well aware, art is entirely subjective. I personally don't go for cows in formaldehyde, and much prefer a bit a satire. Nothing to do with whether people are British or not.

And no doubt, the editors of You Tube will agree with you, why not fire them a quick email?
Turkish Posted 28 April, 2011 Posted 28 April, 2011 And no doubt, the editors of You Tube will agree with you, why not fire them a quick email? no, i just want to stamp my feet and be offended by it, i dont want to actually do anything about it.
Dimond Geezer Posted 28 April, 2011 Posted 28 April, 2011 I am not surprised at someone of your age giggling at silly rude jokes and the words "co*k" and "dildo" being mentioned. I'm 43 & it made me chuckle. When you stop finding these things funny it's the slippery slope to Grumpyville.
SuperMikey Posted 28 April, 2011 Posted 28 April, 2011 I am not surprised at someone of your age giggling at silly rude jokes and the words "co*k" and "dildo" being mentioned. Well, us 8 year olds are notoriously puerile with our humour.
Joensuu Posted 28 April, 2011 Posted 28 April, 2011 no, i just want to stamp my feet and be offended by it, i dont want to actually do anything about it. How very Daily Mail of you.

Nothing to do with whether people are British or not. Well actually a lot of people would find that offensive but I am not going to tell people what they can or cannot laugh at. Sadly this is not the approach of the PC gestapo. You often fall into this camp. But that is very much a Guardian readers trait.
Window Cleaner Posted 28 April, 2011 Posted 28 April, 2011 I'm 43 & it made me chuckle. When you stop finding these things funny it's the slippery slope to Grumpyville. Of course it's funny, just like Monty Python, Not the 9 o' clock news and Morcambe and Wise, who spent most of the time taking the p*ss out of Des O'Connor. It's Satire, the basis of most British Comedy.
Minty Posted 28 April, 2011 Posted 28 April, 2011 Deja vu... Mods, please change the title of this thread to 'Is this a joke?'.
Joensuu Posted 28 April, 2011 Posted 28 April, 2011 Well actually a lot of people would find that offensive but I am not going to tell people what they can or cannot laugh at. Sadly this is not the approach of the PC gestapo. You often fall into this camp. But that is very much a Guardian readers trait. Quite right - no need for censorship in comedy. Could you point me to an example of where I have told people what to or what not to laugh at?
Joensuu Posted 28 April, 2011 Posted 28 April, 2011 Deja vu... Mods, please change the title of this thread to 'Is this a joke?'. Sorry Minty. Hands up, I shouldn't goad them, but it is fun.
Sergei Gotsmanov Posted 28 April, 2011 Posted 28 April, 2011 Quite right - no need for censorship in comedy. Could you point me to an example of where I have told people what to or what not to laugh at? You have hinted that Turkish's avatar may be very sinister. - but you are prepared to give him the benefit of the doubt.
bridge too far Posted 28 April, 2011 Posted 28 April, 2011 Oh dear - I'd better stop reading the Guardian I think. I found this quite funny.
Sergei Gotsmanov Posted 28 April, 2011 Posted 28 April, 2011 Oh dear - I'd better stop reading the Guardian I think. I found this quite funny. Yes but if it featured the Japanese Royal Family you and the rest of the liberal illiberal would be calling for it to be banned and arrests to be made.
Joensuu Posted 28 April, 2011 Posted 28 April, 2011 You have hinted that Turkish's avatar may be very sinister. - but you are prepared to give him the benefit of the doubt. Hmm, a 'hint' hey? I'm not sure I actually went that far, I made no accusations, gave him the benefit of the doubt, and avoided jumping to any conclusions. I think the very fact that I didn't get offended or tell him what to laugh at (or not) seems to have annoyed him even more.
Weston Super Saint Posted 28 April, 2011 Posted 28 April, 2011 I didn't find it funny, maybe I'm already in Grumpyville I think I managed to watch about 40 seconds of it before I closed the window, it just became a little bit obvious after the first 15 or 20 seconds. The kind of thing I suspect will have Deppo rolling on the floor holding his ribs.
OldNick Posted 28 April, 2011 Posted 28 April, 2011 it was hardly side splitting. I laugh at lots of things many think is not PC and so if people think this is funny then fine. i prefer the Peter Storrie in Hitlers bunker youtube thing, that was good
Ludwig Posted 28 April, 2011 Posted 28 April, 2011 Yes but if it featured the Japanese Royal Family you and the rest of the liberal illiberal would be calling for it to be banned and arrests to be made. The humour is derived from the incongruence between their social status and the act of anal sex. I fail to see how this has anything to do with 'race' and find it absurd that chest-puffing nationalists are getting so precious about something that likely occurred to them when they were young. Perhaps that's where the offence is caused.
Joensuu Posted 28 April, 2011 Posted 28 April, 2011 Yes but if it featured the Japanese Royal Family you and the rest of the liberal illiberal would be calling for it to be banned and arrests to be made. Depending upon the context, then er, maybe. For example: a satire of members of the Imperial Family would be fine. Associating negative stereotypes with the comedy far less so. Implying anything negative about race, most certainly not.

Yes a hint in a sort of politically correct policemans sort of way suggesting you could be sensing there could be 'perceived racism' way. 'Run along son on this occasion but I am watching you'.

The kind of thing I suspect will have Deppo rolling on the floor holding his ribs. Unsurprisingly, people like BTF, SuperMikey etc are p*ssing themselves over it , i'm sure they'd be condeming it if someone had done this for the King of Sudans wedding.

Associating negative stereotypes with the comedy far less so. Implying anything negative about race, most certainly not. What if people found it funny. What sort of measures would you advocate?
Minty Posted 28 April, 2011 Posted 28 April, 2011 The thread is now becoming funnier than the video. Irrespective of other accusations, one thing most people seem to have in common is that they just can't help replying one more time, to make one more little point or to try and get a snide comment in. What actually is the point of most of the conversation on this thread now? And yes, I know could ignore it, but I'm genuinely interested because I struggle to understand what motivation some of you have for seeking to constantly wind others up and/or having a go at each other. A bit sad surely...? In my eyes, this thread started as a bit of puerile fun. If you liked it, great, if not, so be it... and yet here we are with all sorts of crap!
Ludwig Posted 28 April, 2011 Posted 28 April, 2011 Unsurprisingly, people like BTF, SuperMikey etc are p*ssing themselves over it , i'm sure they'd be condeming it if someone had done this for the King of Sudans wedding. The humour has nothing to do with race. Absolutely nothing.
Sergei Gotsmanov Posted 28 April, 2011 Posted 28 April, 2011 The humour has nothing to do with race. Absolutely nothing. are race and culture not aligned?
