I think the Championship is a much stronger league than when we were last in it. There's more money floating around and more bigger better clubs. I think we'll need 2 years minimum, perhaps 3 if we play our cards right.

Norwich 2nd, Millwall 7th and Leeds 9th suggests the gap between the top of League One and the Championship is not that great.

We don't really know what the impact will be yet - other than the Prem sides trying to change the youth recruitment rules to enable them to hoover up all the talent for a pittance in the first place and not have to worry so much about signing players with amortisation costs to be counted as a loss.

Saints are one of those sides, as they are aiming to have category one status if these rules come in. Hence the recuritment drive to bring in UEFA "A" license staff to the academy all on full time contracts and the multi million pound development of Staplewood.

James Beattie. I am in absolutely no doubt he would rediscover his form. Yes, he's not fresh-faced, arrogant Beattie we all remember and love but he can still do it. He just needs to find the right environment. We are that environment. Back the Beatts..

Funnily enough saw him walking away from St Mary's before the Hartlepool game. Got a picture with him. Would love to see him back.

Did he go to the game then?

Still think Craig Mackail-Smith would be a great signing, whichever league we're in. Think we would need a bit of pace added as whilst we can deal with one player (Lambert) being slow, having him as well as someone of Hammond's speed behind him could he suicidal!

If I could make 3 signings it would be a CB in the Jaidi mould, an athletic and dominant CM and a quick moving 'of the shoulder' type striker.
