But seriously though, I can understand being inhibited from going on the pitch after the Plymouth game as its their ground and it might be us who condemn them to relegation, but surely if we are promoted then theres nothing wrong with celebrating at our own ground on our own pitch

I can't imagine they'll do anything to pitch invaders in general as they'd be hurting a large proportion of their paying fan base.

They'd certainly stop any individuals causing danger or damage though.

The "law" argument is pretty absurd.

I'm sure it's against the law in order to deter a single individual runnign onto the pitch in anger etc.

Some discretion needs to be exercised here. Too many harmless thinsga re against the law these days. And a mass pitch invasion at the final whistle v Walsall if things go well is essentially harmless.

I hope the club don't go through all the nonsense of saying "don't invade the pitch" over and over again on the tannoy, when they must know there's a 99.9% chance of it happening if we're promoted at the final whistle. If the club are really serious about stopping a pitch invasion, they need to make that plain now - with leaflets, programme notes and the website promising serious repercussions for anyone going on the pitch. Serious effort to collect CCTV footage and enforce season-long/liftetime bans etc. I hope they don't go down such a heavy-handed route, but anythign else is just pointless.

Also, the threat that the players won't do the lap of honour won't be taken seriously this year as it was made very earnestly last year and then not follwoed through.

yes, a pitch invasion is against the law (even a good natured one), but FFS it's the last day of a very successful season!...go on there for 5 minutes, jump around, kiss people you've never met before and will never be likely to meet again , get ya face on the telly and then go back to your seats....no harm done.So long as no-one tries ripping up the pitch/any other piece of property, then go for it.

As someone else said ,the last-day pitch invasion was tradition at the Dell, especially when there was something to celebrate (normally a last-day relegation escape!)..

BUT having said all of that, any c**t that goes on the pitch at Plymouth deserves the full weight of the law thrown at them.It would be tasteless and completely disrespectful to them. Show some class boys, do your club proud by STAYING in the stands and showing some humility towards the Plymouth faithful. Besides, get caught on the pitch at Plymouth and you certainly WON'T be at SMS for the Walsall game.....

It is an act that is against the law. Why is it "boring" to not get your thrills from breaking the law? You will just delay any lap of honour that the players do, or even cause it not to happen at all.

You clearly weren't one of the thousands that was on the pitch after the Arsenal game at the Dell, Sheffield United at home last day of 07/08 season, or the many times at the Dell in the 90's when pitch invasions were an end of season tradition. You stick to politely applauding in the stands and let those that enjoy celebrating on the pitch get on with it rather than taking the moral high ground.

Why are you insulting me when you've just given proof that you've done the same thing, then?

Because you need to remember Griffo, that this forum is full of know it alls & done it alls, who do as i say not as i do and will take the moral high ground over any issue and come up with all sort of stats and quotes to prove you wrong. Yes running on the pitch is illegal, but so is driving at 71 mph on a motor way, all those banging the "it's illegal" drum should remember this and if they are so precious never break the speed limit again. Pitch invasions have been an end of season tradition for years when teams have won things, this will (hopefully) be our first promotion in many of our fans lifetimes after years of the club being in decline and something worth celebrating, it seems a lot dont seem to understand this.

There is no feeling in the world that compares to being amongst thousNds of fellow fans on OUR pitch if you are celebrating something, somincan understand why people feel the urge

For those lucky enough to have actually played on it, it brings back happy memories.

I remember when it was actuLly encouraged and the players would throw their shirts down from the West Stand. I still have a

shoulder from Danny Walace's shirt that I fought over with about twenty others.

Apart from British law.

Blimey. Wind your neck in.

Were you one of those who sat at the front of the classroom grassing anyone up who did something wrong?

You sound like a right barrel of laughs.

IF we don't go up this Fred (and many others like it) will look pretty fekking ridiculous won't it? I can see the Udders fans taking great delight in linking to any number of recent threads...

there has been WAY too much chicken counting going on here since the weekend, we haven't done it YET, the time for this sort of Fred would be before the Walsall game and after (hopefully) two away wins!

We need to get there first.

But whether you like it or not, if we get promoted, it will happen. Then after 10 minutes or so, the stewards will form a chain and everyone will return to the stands. The players will come out with their kids and walk around the pitch, then there will be a mini celebration in the civic centre square followed by a very busy evening in town.

As others have rightly said we definitely don't want to be counting our chickens yet!!!

HOWEVER - if all goes our way then:

Pitch invasion at Walsall game - YES

Pitch invasion at Plymouth - NO

this,

We need streakers with massive tits and really really hairy fannys.

...and most definitely this!!! :D :poundit:

i love to see the passion when the pitch is full of fans BUT ....................... (and i am sure i will get slated for this) it ruins it for those of us that choose not to run on the pitch (or cant) and we then dont get to see the players lap of honour. so do it at Plymouth but stay off at St Marys please.

This. I hate it when a few hundred fans ruin it for the other 30,000 or so, and indeed for the players. A lap of honour is much better than watching a few daft kids run about on the pitch.

I refuse to consider any form of celebration until the moment that it is mathematically certain that we are promoted.

And totally agree with Icey and Ken Tone. Let the players and management celebrate on the pitch where they belong while we appreciate and enjoy it (if it happens) from the stands where we belong.

even though both pitch invasions that have happened at St Marys have started because fans in the Kingsland have run on first......

spot on, last time all the police dogs stood in front of the Northam then the Kingsland went over and the dogs departed. hardly a great stewarding job by the Police or the stewards, I'd rather wait for the players to do the lap of honour and then afterwards if you feel the need go on the pitch.

mind you though those who leave to get to the car park on 85minutes won't be bothered either way!!!!!

so are people invading the pitch at Brentford?

i went down to Brentford's ground during my lunchbreak today, being a good old school club they had the gates open , had a stroll round and with the permission of the cleaner sweeping the steps took the opportunity of a stroll around the corner of the pitch so technically could claim i've got in early and invaded it today, looks like a lovely surface for our passing game unlike last year

IF we go up at Plymouth anyone who goes on their pitch is a c unt. They will have just been relegated and will be feeling like absolute ****. Anyone thinking of doing just stop and ask yourself how you would have felt if it had been Man U fans on the pitch at St Marys a few years ago.

Newcastle did it and Plymouth fans didn't have a problem with it last season.
