Brentford build up

I've just realised that Brentford have a player on loan from Udders, namely Simpson (No 23) ex Cambridge 17 goals in 28 (+5) games in 2006/7 and ex Coventry. He has started the last 3 games so I would expect him to play.

I expect he has been told by "his Club" to kick anything that moves and to phone down a halftime report to the Withdean.

The best message we should sent to him for his halftime report is that "Saints are up for it" and that Udders should save themselves for the playoffs.

Brentford have an awful of loan players, more than they can field at any one time I think.Probably a bit of plus factor then ,nothing to play for won't be

motivational for loan players.

Check out their OS; "the sight of Ryan Dickson crying on the pitch as Southamptons promootion bandwagon comes off the rails" - WTF is it with these small clubs???

One of the principal reason why we need to get out of this poxy league. You wouldn't find that sort of crap on Coventry's OS or Forest's.

.... and the shyte way clubs have resorted to restricting the amount of tickets given to us for away games.

Orient, Exeter, Yeovil, now Plymouth and Brentford have all made the games all ticket yet failed to use up large sections of their own allocation. I'm sure there have bben others as well. I won't even bother mentioning the paltry allocation on offer from Shyteton - but it is the same for everybody who goes there I guess.

Bompey gave us a smaller allocation than to other clubs - but there again that was their Cup Final LOL!!!

Small teams getting jealous of us now we are about to abandon ship for better things!!

Get me out of this feckin league NOW!!

SOLD#SOLD# SOLD# cu at the ground Nige.

I have two Brentford seats together in one of the home stands bought as a contingency for tomorrow but not needed as my son and I both got an allocation.

If you are happy to post your mobile number on here do so and I will call you when I check back later or mail me MadDogMatt7@gmail.com.

They are available at cost £21 each cash as a pair. Buyer can collect from me at the ground.

You will have read the stories about being ejected as an away fan so dont wear colours, and dont celebrate, until the 92nd minute anyway. Bought for me by a home fan friend who they can be traced back to so need to go to fans who can be resfectful of those around them.

First person I succesfully contact secures

Cheers

I should think most of them are explained away by segregation. Orient gave us a bigger allocation than most visitors (inc Arsenal in the FA Cup) and Exeter have a tiny away end anyway.

It doesn't necessarily follow that more tickets = more money if they have to pay for more police due to the changes in segregation and splitting of stands. Saints are as guilty as any of being inflexible with allocations once you get up to 10% of capacity and we've restricted away allocations whilst not selling out a few times since we dropped out of the Prem.

Where's that, I can't find it anywhere ?

Incidentally, to wrap up my "all ticket" spouting from a week or so ago, Brentford HAVE now explicitly stated that there will be no tickets sold on the day (or tomorrow, in fact ticket sales ended 22 minutes ago and they're not posting any due to the bank holiday).

Top piece, Brentford this week bit by some oik.

A link would be nice, cos I've read both previews and I can't see it. I'm assuming either that you misread, made it up, or they've just removed it :

THE MATCH

Brentford v Southampton, npower League One, Griffin Park, April 30 2011

THE KIT

THE OPPOSITION

Southampton need seven points from their final three League One games to ensure promotion, although six will probably do the job.

The Saints almost reached the play-offs last season after a remarkable late run and began the campaign as favourites to go up this time.

They had a slow start this term but following a change of manager and a fine run of form in 2011, Southampton look set to follow fellow south coast side Brighton and Hove Albion in to The Championship.

The Saints have been on a downward spiral for a few years - they were relegated from the top flight in 2005 after 27 years and, after narrowly avoiding relegation twice, dropped to the third tier in 2009.

They were docked ten points towards the end of their relegation season when parent company Southampton Leisure Holdings went into administration and as they went down that penalty was carried over to last term.

They started slowly, it took them until October to wipe off the deficit and were still in the bottom four at the start of December, but they finished like a train.

The Saints lost one of their last 12 League One games and won the Johnstone's Paint Trophy by beating Carlisle United at Wembley - they eventually finished seventh and would have been fifth but for the deduction.

They were firm favourites to go up this year at the start of the season but won one of their first seven and lost their grip on the JPT with a defeat to Swindon Town.

Manager Alan Pardew lost his job at the end of August and Nigel Adkins was brought in.

That decision looks set to pay dividends - six points over Easter kept Southampton second in League One, level on points with Huddersfield Town, who are third.

The Saints have a much better goal difference than the Yorkshire side and a game more to play so seven points will make sure of promotion but six should be enough.

THE MANAGER

Nigel Adkins took over as Southampton manager on September 12 after The Saints agreed a package with S****horpe United for his services.

The 46-year-old played in goal for Tranmere Rovers and Wigan Athletic before taking over as player-manager at Bangor City.

He became physiotherapist at S****horpe in 1996 - having gained a degree in physiotherapy from the University of Salford when he was Bangor boss - and took over as manager of the Lincolnshire club in 2006.

He took them up as League One champions after five months in charge and although they were relegated he took them back up to The Championship via the play-offs in 2009 and kept them there.

Without Adkins, S****horpe look set for relegation while Adkins has taken Southampton to the brink of promotion.

THE DANGER MAN

Rickie Lambert has been one of the most prolific goal scorers in the country for the past two years and although he has not been as prolific this term, he is still the man to stop.

He joined Southampton in August 2009 from Bristol Rovers in a deal worth in excess of £1m after scoring 29 League One goals for the West County club in the 2008/09 season, making him joining top scorer in the country.

He scored 37 goals in all competitions last term - one for Rovers - 31 of which came in the league as he was again the country's top scorer.

This term he has 19 goals to his credit, still enough to make him The Saints' top scorer.

THE FORMER BEE

Ryan Dickson joined Southampton last summer after his contract at Griffin Park expired.

The former Plymouth Argyle trainee cost The Saints £125,000 after a tribunal set the fee and the total cost could reach £250,000.

The 24-year-old joined Brentford on loan from Plymouth in late 2007 before making his move permanent early in 2008.

He played just short of 100 league games for The Bees, scoring three goals.

THE BRENTFORD VIEW

Brentford captain Kevin O'Connor said it was much better at this stage of the season to play in games where there was something at stake.

The Bees' last two fixtures see them play the teams currently second and third in League One.

And O'Connor, speaking immediately after the 1-1 Easter Monday draw with relegation-threatened Notts County, said the atmosphere in the stands for vital games lifted everyone.

"Our last games are big games for the teams we are playing against," said O'Connor.

"It is definitely better to play teams with something to play for.

"It gets us up for it, it will be a good challenge for us and we hope it can lead on for next season.

"If there is something at stake you get big crowds.

"It was buzzing here today and I think the lads enjoy the atmosphere and want to play well.

"We will come up against good teams and it will be a big challenge for us but we are looking forward to it."

that's not selling though is it, it's providing duplicates for previous sales. If saints were still sending out tickets yesterday with just 1 delivery before a bank holiday intervened they need a kick up the butt.

After the brighton away win Saints can get 3 points from next to games. Brighton will and should want to win the last home game before moving to new ground.

I hope you are right, but its not the same as us leaving the Dell or Brighton leaving the Goldstone. They hate the Withdean and are embarrassed that they have to play there, they are not leaving it with any nostalgia. Nevertheless hopefully the little Urugyan knobhead can pump his players up to play their usual brand of ugly, petty, time wasting football and frustrate Huddersfield.

There has to be a twist surely. We're making it too easy at the moment. Can see us drawing or losing, so depends what Huddersfield do.

It's so hard to accept we are not the saints of old isn't it. Always waiting for the slip up, always waiting for it to go wrong! I wonder how much longer it'll be on our upward journey before we get the confidence and belief! (when fans of other clubs really CAN call us arrogant!). These days I've lost the feeling of panic in a game when we go a goal down as I 'know' we can now come back from a goal, even from being two goals down.

But still, for the bigger picture, there's always that familiar feeling from seasons gone by that we'll managed to stuff it up somehow! We are not really gonna do this are we?!?!?!?!............

Put it this way - assuming both Saints and Hudders win their last games of the season, we get 4 bites of the cherry.

1. Beat Brentford, if that doesnt happen;

2. Brighton beat Huddersfield, if that doesnt happen;

3. Beat Plymouth, if that doesnt happen;

4. Playoffs.

Hope Fonte plays, he did limp off when he was substituted last week and had his leg ice packed, could Morgan feature and I heard Barnards ankle is not as bad as first thought.

One last push, we can do it.

In previous years, with it being Saints, I found myself awaiting the self destruct.

Not with this team. Not with this manager.

They'll win tomorrow and we'll go up on Monday.

Let's hope those words don't come back to haunt you!!

Let's win our last three!

I've said all season we'd go up. I've seen nothing in the last two months to change that view.

The players know it's in their own hands and they have shown recently against MKD and BHA how much they want it.

This is football, remember nothing is set in stone until after the game. I really hope we do go up and am reasonably confident but I hate the idea of tempting fate.

We have performed excellently of late, though. 10 wins in 12 games? Superb return.

Most people that know me would classify me as a pessimist (I say realist) but I just can't see anyone beating us right now and we will win tomorrow. With Lallana back in the side we have enough to beat anyone in this league.

I think we'll draw this one and Huddersfeld will also get at least a point. Hope I'm wrong and Brighton send off their stadium with a win. Classic Saints to balls up this one though. Hope they're on big win bonuses.

The morning after.

After the Lord Mayors' Show.

And all that.

Tough day ahead staying focused, fighting off requests from tourists here to go out for "a nice dinner before they go home"

No real motivation to crack open a Magners at kick off time thanks to an overdose of Pims & Cup Cakes yesterday.

But THIS is a BIG game, so we all know deep down that we WILL be focused, we WILL put away the nerves of the last week, we WILL consign the hangovers/bad food moments to history and be UP for this game.

Bring it on. Yestrday is gone, today is about securing OUR future.

COYS, come on Ohio with your source of Nuns & Lucy's

Brentford have a whole host of injury problems, we really should be looking to win this one fairly easily.

Unless Brighton roll over, I actually think we'll be all but promoted tomorrow.

Absolutely right, Brighton beat Hudders and we win, going for a comfortable 3-0, and we are going up!!!!!!!
