Saint Fan CaM Posted 26 April, 2011 Share Posted 26 April, 2011 Fantastic result again. Can't get used to this winning run feeling! Not in the bag yet by some stretch as Hudders just keep on winning too. Got to hope Brighton show some spirit to win the final game at the Withdean. PokingFun Posted 26 April, 2011 Share Posted 26 April, 2011 It was 1-0 at the time and we were singing "Kelvin, what's the score?" and he gave his usual calm down, not just yet gesture so we gave it "Kelvin Davis... He can't f*****g count!" Tis common practice when SKD is down our end and he always appreciates it. He told me he prefers the Chapel End where fans are articulate and polite ..... PokingFun Posted 26 April, 2011 Share Posted 26 April, 2011 Good professional result, which we have got a habit of producing at the moment. Was hoping Daggers would do us a favour today (they almost did tbf) but onto Saturday......it's going to be pretty nerve racking! Brentford are a decent team but they now have nothing to play for. We really need to win one of our remaining 2 away games though - I fear we'll drop points at Plymouth as they'll be fighting for their lives...amazing they still have a chance. Surely the teams fighting for their lives will be under as much pressure as us to get a result. I'd have my money on us every time in those games. dune Posted 26 April, 2011 Share Posted 26 April, 2011 That'll do nicely. Really good support from the fans.
hughieslastminutegoal Posted 26 April, 2011 Share Posted 26 April, 2011 You have to feel gutted for whoever misses out on automatic promotion - obviously less gutted for Hudders - but have always felt the play offs were completely unfair - the whole point of the league is it is over the entire season, which is why we have the cup competitions, so why turn the league in to a mini cup compoetition at the end just to boost the TV revenues? Anyway hope both of us get through eventually - us in 2nd, Hudders via play off's - they have earned it! They were introduced to maintain interest in the season so there aren't as many "meaningless" games at the back end of the season. However the points difference between 3rd and 6th is often quite (too) large. Maybe the only clubs in the playoffs should be those within 1 (or at most 2 points) of the club in front of them to a max of 4 teams, and if only 3 clubs are involved 4th and 5th play off for the right to play 3rd. That way at least 3rd gets some weighting in their favour.

Personally I hope bompey go up (apart from giving us 6 easy points next season) I really like the idea of having four south coast teams in the same league lots of spicy local(ish) matches plus easy to get to away games. OldNick Posted 26 April, 2011 Share Posted 26 April, 2011 I thought Harding was MotM. His runs and crosses deserved better. The gane could so easily have been thrown away in the 10 minute spell when Hartlepool came at us. Monkhouse won most of the aerial duels and they so they could have equalised. yet again KD saved us points with an outstanding save. The next two games will be nailbiters. 4 points minimum i would are a must. Hopefully Brighton can beat Huddrsfield. Just a note for Poyet, if Hartlepool had Glenn Murray they would win the league, as like Brighton they spent the game looking for ways of wasting time etc
red&white56 Posted 26 April, 2011 Share Posted 26 April, 2011 Did Kelvin save the near post header or did it just go voer the bar? I was stood in the Northam, but the angle was such that I couldn't see if he saved it or not ?
hypochondriac Posted 26 April, 2011 Share Posted 26 April, 2011 I enjoy our games with Pompey more than any other. Atmosphere, build up, the tension and the sheer hatred between the two sets of fans. Pompey here we come Yep. The two things I am looking forward to over everything else is the chance to get into the prem and the chance to smash the skates. We're coming...
