Sheaf Saint Posted 24 April, 2011 Share Posted 24 April, 2011 I'm slowly upgrading my PC. Just bought a new ASRock N68C-S mobo and gonna get a new processor to go with it when I get paid, but ideally I need to replace my ageing Geforce 8500 graphics card as well. I don't really want to spend silly money, and I came across this one and was wondering what people think about it or if anyone has any other recommendations. Saint_Jonny Posted 24 April, 2011 Share Posted 24 April, 2011 If you are not looking at playing any up to date games on your lovely new system then that card should be fine, its an improvement on your old 8500 at least, and should cope with all the HD video content you can chuck at it. As far as affordable graphic cards for gaming goes, you can't do much better than one of these at the moment for the money : http://www.novatech.co.uk/novatech/prods/components/nvidiageforcegraphicscards/nvidiagtx460fermiseries/kfa2/60xgh6hs3gxw.html That is obviously way more expensive than the card you posted, there are cheaper variations available, and something like this would see you right for a far greater period of time. Sheaf Saint Posted 7 May, 2011 Author Share Posted 7 May, 2011 I went for this one in the end... http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B0032W414O/ref=oss_product From all the reviews available it seemed by far the best option for my budget.
thesaint sfc Posted 9 May, 2011 Share Posted 9 May, 2011 Shame - I would have sold you my ATI 4870 1GB for £40-50!
