Looking forward to this - I'm betting £200 on a Hartlepool win or a draw, that way I'll be happy with the outcome whatever happens, I'll be molesting a lady or two in the bogs, and I'm going to chuck a pie at the Hartlepool bus. I may even streak onto the pitch during a Hartlepool attack.

Or maybe I'll just be a good person and support the team I love in a normal, non-controversial manner.

Half serious question:

Why not start with AL and DC and try and win the game in the first 30-45 minutes?

Then take them off if need be?

Rather than risk getting to 0-1 after 65 mins and throwing them both on from the bench?

(I'm saying all this without knowing the detailed medical condition of either player)

I'm not being defeatist, but I'm still worried about ALL our remaining games until if and when we get promoted. We've simply thrown away too many of the "Easier" games for me to not worry. I'm just glad we are now in a quick succession of games so we can get the pain of hope out of the way sooner!

Because if the team do well without them then Adkins can leave them on the bench so they have a better chance to play against Brentford.

Also the game opens up in the last 20 minutes leaving them more space to do some magic.

We have tended to play better in the second half, and even with a fully fit team I can't remember any games which we have killed off in the first half. By having these two players on the bench we can adjust to situation. Fast forward, if it were 0-0 at 60 minutes, would you have prefered them to have started or be sat on the bench?

That 6-0? Weren't we 4 up at half time?

Worried about tonight.

No not the game so much as the fact that I have to go out at HT for an "IT Industry Awards Dinner" - ain't gonna win anything more a chance to let the business meet the great & good that is me...

So I'll be out listening to boring speeches & looking for business opportunities when my mind will be on how the evolution continues. Will Hartlepool be tough enough to need more Nuns in Gasmasks? Or was it really the link to Dr Who that did the trick against Brighton with DC rolling back the years.

Gonna be hard to focus on the job in hand. Hope the same won't apply to the team after the highs of Saturday.

Could be a nervy first half again methinks

Just a simple 2-0 for me today for Saints and Huddersfield to beat Daggers I'm afraid. BUT I genuinely think they will LOSE @ Brighton on Saturday ;-)

Following this logic, why not play George Best?

Im going to be wearing a nuns outfit and a gas mask - see you in Block 42!

Crikey, that's a good point....

We forgot the time honoured "What fancy dress to wear to honour our cult hero of the year for the last away game of the season" thread... Who can forget the classic Frannie Benali & CMFG away days

Perhaps you could go to your convention in similar attire Phil,Nun's outfit and gasmask probably wouldn't look too out of place in Dubai.

Anyone believing that Uddersfield will beat us to second, can cash in at 5-1

As much as it's propah nawty to bet against your team, having a cover bet at 5-1 on Huddersfield doing it is an excellent back up. Saints win, we celebrate through the summer, Huddersfield do it, and you've paid for your season ticket next season AND still with the possibility of going up through the play-offs.

I won't though, cuz it's nawty.

i would like to be at the g\me today ...if someone would answer the phone at the ticket office, what the hells going on

I'd imagine they are mental busy - be patient, you'll get through eventually.

Not sure if my dreams are anything to go by, but after going 2-0 down early we will come back to win 8-5 (anyone know the odds on that).

Obviously not sure of the veracity of my dream as in the first half I'm refereeing wearing UGG boots and in the second half I'm under the East terrace with black DM's on. Additionally, Tony Pulis is managing Hartlepool for the day, the game is being played at Vicarage Road and one Monkey Hanger fan is sick over Lambert as he goes to take a corner!!!!!!!!

No cheese last night, just plenty of scrumpy at The Platform Tavern's Cider Festival!!!!!!!!!!!!

There are people you can see about dreams like that.

That said, I'm getting a bet in for 8-5 Saints on your word. They don't call you Um 'Mystec Meg' Pahars for nothing ;)

I'm looking forward to todays game. Nice weather, coming off the back of a great win and everything to play for.

I think you should seek help. I certainly will if your 8-5 comes true!

Whilst I hope we get an early goal to settle the nerves, & It would be nice to have a comfortable & relaxing win for a change. But this is Saints, so I expect a long nervous match today & patience once again will be the key. I'd definitely keep Lallana & Connolly on the bench (air on the cautious side), we should have enough to win this without them but they are there if necessary. That is unless Lallana is fully fit, I know Connolly has said he is the fittest person at the club & raring to go, but he does seem to be made of glass & I'd prefer to keep him for 30-mins at the end of games when needed. Gone for a hard ground out 2-0 win Saints.

And now back to reality.

What was the Wadworth furore a few years back after he had been given the boot along with Gray???

Didn't we put up a rather disparaging attack on him on the OS a bit later (was he returning with another team, or was someone just reminiscing on how bad things were under Gray and him) that then got pulled after someone realised it was a bit OTT (or after he complained?)???

Hope he hasn't got a better memory than me!!!!!!

Every game is vital between now and securing promotion...they are all 6 pointers as far as I am concerned

We should thrash this lot today ...but being Saints they could still cause us a few panics

I really, really doubt that we will have any problems in overcoming Hartlepool today.

For the first time in a long time, I actually have confidence in Saints (rather than just being an eternal optimist) and I expect a hard working, professional display and a comfortable victory today. NA seems to have built a team that actually wants to win and will put in the effort to make it happen.

My only concern is Brighton wasn't an easy game, in the heat, and it was only two days ago... can everyone recover well enough to put in 100%? I expect a few changes to the starting lineup.

pressure is properly cranked up on Huddersfield now.

Their biggest problem is that we have all just been educated by that coaching genius down the coast and we now realise that Dagenham are as good as us.

That could be good enough for a draw up there - if we see a Saints win and Udders draw - it's over bar the shouting.

Posted

3-0 no worries!! Daggers get a draw at Hudders and then we hammer Brentford to win promotion as Hudders draw again against bum bandits!!

You heard it first on here, today!!

Mix of REALLY looking forward to today and also of feeling slightly nervous that the team will be sore from Saturday's excellent effort. Having said that, under normal circumstances I would fully expect Saints to win this comfortably 2-0. I am hoping for a categoric thrashing of Hartlepool however - we're due to hand one out somewhen soon. I hope the SMS faithful raise the roof today and roar the team one step closer to auto-promotion.

COME ON YOU SAINTS!

nervous already. At last league 1 brings me the proper football feelings of nerves and excitement before games. Enjoy the game chaps. Early goal would be nice.

Would be good to be winning at half time with Huddersfield and Daggers at 0-0 (or Daggers winning!) so that when they read the scores out it will make the Huddersfield fans even more edgey and hopefully transfer to their players.

Posted
I would expect to see Richardson, Seaborne and Stephens back to freshen things up and maybe another change too.

According to the OS, Lallana is ready to start, so add him to the starting changes.

Sat outside Winny services drinking a coffee and it's proper lovely weather. If ever there was a day to try and encourage the next generation of kids to support Saints, this is it!

Looks like we're going to need three wins because there's no way Brighton will beat Huddersfield playing like they are atm...

I can see Brighton throwing away their last 3 games, if nothing else because Poyet will want to 'prove' that we're just Daggenham with Rickie Lambert and our win was nothing special.

Suspect you might be right although I'd prefer Martin brought in rather than Seaborne. Not likely though.

LOOKS LIKE IT'S ALREADY HAPPENING

todays game so far...

TEAM NEWS

Gus Poyet makes four changes to the side that lost 2-1 against Southampton on Saturday.

Alan Navarro starts in place of Liam Bridcutt to make his first senior start since suffering a ruptured cruciate ligament in August.

Lewis Dunk is recalled, with Adam El-Abd dropping to the bench, while Craig Noone and Chris Wood also start, replacing Matt Sparrow and Glenn Murray respectively.

Murray is absent from the squad after suffering a shoulder injury against Southampton.

Well that could also mean the League table could possibly end up like this...

Brighton 93 points

Southampton 92 points

So if he starts throwing games, Saints will just get closer to them and makes it look a lot tighter.
