Nigel Adkins is soooooooo damn flexible tactically. Ok we have a lovely diverse squad for him to pick from but unlike a lot of managers who are scared to ring changes he seems to haul our a*ses from the fire at least once every two weeks.

despite being in amazing form...we are not playing well, apparently

Apparently as well, according to bright lights on here, he's not had a good season we're performing below expectations and Cortese is getting the P45 ready.

For me this is what makes Adkins a much better manager than Pardew. I remember being at Swindon away last season, we went 1-0 down in the first half and Pardew did nothing until 10 minutes before the end of the game, by which point its far too late. In comparison, when we go 2-0 down against MK Dons a few weeks ago, straight away Nige changes things around and it pays off minutes later.

Pretty sure that was Charlie Wayman. I don't really have to say any more if you know his posting history.

He only changed things then because of the huge amount of stick he was getting from the Saints supporters telling him what to do, he had no idea that night, none at all.

That swindon game still ranks as the worst saints game i've ever been too, and the sight of the entire away end rolling their arms in the air for a sub was a real low point (not for the fans i might add, but that we needed to do it in the first place).

Kind of shows how far we've come in such a short space of time if you ask me. To go from that to how we've played at times the last couple of seasons is an immense achievement. The important thing is that we don't forget those lows, they're what make the highs so much more precious.

I agree with everything you said there.

Good post. I went to the Huddersfield away game 3 days prior to the Swindon one (lost 3-1), and thought to myself that surely I will never watch u's play any worse than we did that day at the galpharm.

Unfortunately, 3 days later I watched us play miles worse away at Swindon.

I couldn't believe what I was watching that night, nor how Pardew stood on the sidelines, arms crossed and did precisely f*** all about the shambles that was in front of him. That was until he was watching 3,500 Saints fans jumping up and down, doing the rotary hand gestures and screaming "SUB SUB SUB SUB SUB". alarms bells were ringing that early for me, and this plays a big part in why I never rated AP.

Although Adkins has done OK it is really Pardew's team I think he did really well in getting Butterfield Hammond Harding Fonte Jaidi Barnard and Lambert to join SFC and without them I doubt we we would be in the position we are today

john, adkins has done more than OK...

look our form for god sake..dont ever recall being this good over such a period last season..

and to keep a team that is about to go over half a season unbeaten and break all sorts of records out of 2nd place is something very darn good...huddersfield are no mugs either

At the start of the seaon I thought the team assembled by Pardew /Cortese would be promoted and that any reasonable manager should be able to get us promoted after Pardew left although the poor form with Wilkins in charge was a worry

Likke you have said on numerous occassions our squad has cost loads compared with many others

At no point did I say Cortese was getting his P45 ready. I simply want to see us promoted and I feel we have been lacking in some areas considering some of the players we have in our team. I still feel in some games we have flattered to deceive and have won because of the quality of the opposition rather than because we played well. Having said that, we have put a really decent run together in the last couple of months and I am happy for Adkins to continue on that basis next season, provided we win promotion and provided we show good form and get at least mid table next year. I hope we do!

You really think that Cortese will fire Adkins after the season we have had?

You really are mental.

Yep I agree with this. Perhaps I have high demands but I think they are realistic given our wage bill, resources and players at our disposal.

John do not take the bait from some of these pathetic baby posters....

Nigel has done well but then he had to with this squad......thank God he has got us in there with a good chance...

They all know Pardew did a really good job for this club..considering the -10..but he is history...

Some of the baby t******s like playing silly little games instead of enjoying what we have and hopefully promotion to come..

By the way you t******s....Come on Our Nigel keep up the good work..max points to come...

I presume this is another one of your 'amusing' comments where you pretend to misread what I have said. Just in case you were being serious, please kindly reread what I have written.

You said Cortese was 'getting his P45 ready'. I assume you mean Adkins. Who else did you mean?
