Brighton V Saints 1-2 Post match Chat!

TBF they're a gracious bunch. Don't mind them as fans and a decent club too.

This result could shatter their players psychologically though - they know they need to win every single game now, no margin for error now - Is that too much...?

What a mix of emotions during that one. Went from grumbling round the house at 1-0 at halftime, to "WHY! WHY can't we just pull this off, I've suffered enough...", then to scaring the **** out of the kids with a roar of..."YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH 1-1...CONNELLY", to leaving the kids and wife staring at me aghast as I suddenly erupted and charging around the house screaming "YES YES YES" and then sliding on my knees.

Brilliant result, now please Saints, i'm begging you, don't **** it up!

I cant believe it, still stunned. I worked an early shift today and vowed not to listen to the game because every time I do we get stuffed. A mate in dartford texted me around 4.45 to say "sh*t, there goes 2nd", so I had a quick look at the bbc website on my phone, groaned, turned over and went back to sleep. Ive just now woken up to the joyous prospect of picking up the mother in law for the weekend, and had a quick look to check the result and..........BAMMMMMMMMMMMM.............

Absolutely un-f*cking-believable. COYFR

What a game to be at! Great attitude from the players, we have won from behind few times now. Fonte was immense, Lallana class and Chaplow's best game for months!

Pleased for NA after all the stick they gave him. Brighton were poor, so much timewasting- each throw in takes 3 minutes! We had the last laugh.

Spoke to Barney before the game, he has ligament damage, fit in 6 weeks or so.

Nice to see Dean Hammond's wife and family sat in the middle of the away following!

I have to agree with that, I do not know how many will agree with me, however, I think Adkins really knows how to turn a game around, his subs, sorry impact players have changed games for us a few times this season.

I recall the Brentford game in mid-December when we went 0-2 down after 30 minutes and NA didn't make a substitution until the 83rd minute. Almost Burleyesque.

So fair play to NA to learn from that set back and to make the changes when necessary - v MK Dons and now Brighton. Well done Nigel!

The Brighton fans, management, publicity people really set themselves up for this with their petulant behaviour. All I can say after their arrogant transparent behaviour, is 'have some of that'. A more graceless bunch especially after their brilliant season it would be difficult to conceive. It is a terrific way to put their season to bed, end their unbeaten run, end their unbeaten record at home and now leave them facing possibly another defeat next week. A brilliant result, back in the driving seat, forget this one and Brighton move on to Monday and take it from there.

Very well said. I listened to Radio Sussex after the game and the same boorish and offensive attitude was showing on there as well, as if the BBC Sussex staff know they have to sink down to the same low level. Insults on the front of the Programme and insults shouted at the away team manager are not the way any club should welcome its opponents to its home ground. The Brighton problem probably stems from a long-held inferiority complex, dating back at least to the 1960s. They almost went out of the football league while Saints were in the top flight but its time they got over it. As it is, Saints have denied them the bragging rights.

When I heard Solent saying Fonte's put it in the net I thought they meant it was an own goal. I went from the worst feeling in the world to a high not experienced in years in less than a second! LUVIT SAINTSSSSS!!!!!! Now lets win in at Plymouth so it's on my patch please =)

Me too, R&WBA! Me too. I thought "noooo, 2 og's" - well, the first wasn't an og, but 2 gifted goals for them!!!! Then found Fonte has scored FOR us. Sorry to anyone at Winchester Garnier Road tip as I let out a loud "YEEEEESSSSS!" when I realised it!!!

How many of us were running around the garden screaming like loonies, before firing up the barbie and in a quiet moment whilst turning over the sausages felt a moistness in the eyes. God I love this club!!!

That's the smoke.

to be fair, we were singing "fergie youre a c*nt, fergie fergie youre a c*nt" at st marys.

And I shudder to think what abuse ian holloways going to get next season if we go up and blackpool go down ;)

I think I love the comedy genius that is you Deppo almost as much as I love this club.

I read part of the match thread after the game finished (always interesting when coming back from a goal down) and not only are you a comedy God but you can also predict the future!! I salute you.

playing the game the correct way and shaking hands at the end doesn't seem to feature in Poyet's world.

In the two games against us he tried to pull every trick in the book, tonight he just looks a complete idiot.

Did they really print Nige's throwaway comments on the programme, and make up banners?

How feeble.

Sounds like they timewasted as usual and it sounds like their manager is so embarrased about failing to back up his big mouth with big deeds that he won't even shake hands....

Brighton looks a shabby club tonight, as did Bmouth after their gobby build up and capitulation, there's a lot to be said for the quiet approach.

They are worthy champions over the season, but there is little class or sporting behaviour there.

Nige just needs the win at Fratton for the full set.

A good three points, now back to business on Monday.

So everyone, get back on the bus and keep rowing it in the right direction, just keep chipping away, quietly gathering the points we need.

Quality Saint_Jonny - great find.

That along with their ''special'' pre-match music montage is brilliant. They have just confirmed their noddy club status really, and I thought them bringing out a DVD of their win at St Mary's was sad enough.

Anyone got Le Tissier's celebrations on Sky Soccer Saturday? Apparently he went apesh*t!?

Someone please get it!! ;)

Quality win today. I was effing and jeffing when we went 1-0 followed by all those missed chances. I kept on saying to my old man that the footballing gods were against us! Oh how I love to eat my own words. LOVE you Saints. I was running around the house celebrating like a madman when Fonte nodded in the second.

Great stuff, and bring on Hartlepool. Let's make sure we remain unbeaten for the rest of the run in, please! We can still get 92 points, LET'S DO IT!!

As an earlier poster has mentioned, I didn't really celebrate Fonte's winner as all I could hear was the ref whistiling in the background and was convinced it had been ruled out!

Just checked my texts and laughed when I saw I sent my mate one at 16.45 saying it wasn't going to happen and then news of our equaliser at 16.47; I should have more faith.

I imagine the Huddersfield fans are feeling like I did last night, but multiplied by ten.

So close now, just need to guard against complacency on Monday....

Firstly, I apologise to that woman and her baby at the park for frightening the life out of them by screaming, roaring and jumping about in their faces. Just thankful they never called the police!!

And secondly, Jose Fonte was player of the season and a cult hero. Today, he turned into a Saints legend.

Driving up the I4 from Anna Maria Island to Kissimmee looking at the bbc site on my blackberry getting bollocked by the mrs & mother in law then 1-1 - Get in, cheers coming out the car. Fonte - car is swerving everywhere - I shout ****ing get in in the loudest voice only to get another bollocking..........strange Americans stunned.

COYS - lets keep going.....

Quick point on David Connolly, if he were fit all the time he would not be playing in Div 3. Never forget his first goals up at Oldham last season. Top quality.

Great result - top day.....but job is far from over - its just another 3 points with 9 more needed from 12 to do the business and get promoted, 6 if Hudders lose at brighton but we cant count on that. Its been the story of our season that in the big games against the top sides, we do the business and then slip up against sides where we should be winning.. so now is the time to put that chestnut to bed good and proper. Celebrate a good win, but lets not think this is anything more than another 3 points with 9 still needed to go up without the lottery of the playoffs. I would trade the 3 points today for 12 in the next 4 anyday whoever we were playing... even had it been cheats FC from down the road. This win means NOTHING if we feck up in any of the remaining games.

COYRs - prove that you deserve that 2nd spot - dont let us down!

When the first Saints goal went in,i was in my garden and jumped out of my chair and shouted COYRs at the top of my voice.A man across the road shouted as well as did people in three of the gardens next to my house. When the second goal was scored,it seemed like the whole street went wide.

Happy days.

Remember last season when Huddersfield scored in the last minute against someone when we were chasing the playoffs, the same night we beat bristol away. I remember that feeling and it all but ended our playoff charge...what we did today is exactly the same, and I believe has hurt Huddersfield hard.

Great win, great character.

Anybody else see Poyets comments on Brighton Player that we are exactly the same as Dagenham except we have Lambert, and that if Dagenham had Lambert then they would be top 6. Think the man hates us.

Let's just say The Saints in Millbrook was in celebratory mood. Refills were the order of the day as much went on the ceiling and around the car park!!!!!!!!!!!!
