I just knew we'd win this one, we always manage to raise it for the bigger games which makes the Rochdale and Walsall results even more frustrating!

Hartlepool at home will be the killer test though - comes very quickly after this one and we've put so much into this. We should win it...but let's not count our chickens just yet, still a long way to go in order to secure this!

This team is terrific though, the complete mentalist that said before the game ''we don't have the mental strength as other teams'' - care to come and retract that comment?

This is the sort of win that could psychologically kill Huddersfield.

The Brighton fans, management, publicity people really set themselves up for this with their petulant behaviour. All I can say after their arrogant transparent behaviour, is 'have some of that'. A more graceless bunch especially after their brilliant season it would be difficult to conceive. It is a terrific way to put their season to bed, end their unbeaten run, end their unbeaten record at home and now leave them facing possibly another defeat next week. A brilliant result, back in the driving seat, forget this one and Brighton move on to Monday and take it from there.

what a cracking result...and we even gifted them a goal.

have to say, this team.. no matter what we all say about how they are not playing well. get results and have real character/desire/will to win

brilliant.....

I have to agree with that, I do not know how many will agree with me, however, I think Adkins really knows how to turn a game around, his subs, sorry impact players have changed games for us a few times this season.

Not particularly surprised as this is Saints, we always seem to win when no-one expects it + I really fancied a result at their place.

Huddersfield fans must be distraught as I'm sure they would have pinned their hopes to a Saints loss. Now they must go there and hopefully a stung Brighton will beat them.

Brilliant 3 points but we MUST follow it up now and get the job done.

Would be typical Saints to beat Brighton and then lose to the likes of Walsall.

Don't screw it up Saints!!!

Put it this way - would saints fans ever, ever, ever take the time to write out banners about the manager of Brighton and Hove Albion?

They've won the league but proved themselves to be an absolutely nothing club. The visit of Saints was their little cup final. And they lost.

Good luck to them in their gigantic new stadium.

Gus said he wanted 100 points this season. If my quick maths serves me correctly, the maximum they can now get is 99. That simple little statistic makes a sweet win against a bitter club all the sweeter.

OK, having been listening to the gulls taters since half time...........I will have an organism right now. :)

Cracking result, Dave.

I think us and Brighton are opposites in many ways.

They coast out of this division because they're built for it, but I think they'll struggle next year.

We have to fight to get out of this division because we're much better suited to the one above, where I don't think we'll struggle. And that's before we strengthen the squad.

If that makes us arrogant, so be it.

Table doesn't lie, Brighton deserve to be top but they must be regretting all the chops they've been giving it. 99.99% of me is delighted with the result because of the position it puts us in, but the rest of me is glad we put them on their arses today

When people were doing the predictions, a lot of people had this down as a defeat, but I was always confident we could pick something up against Brighton, but to do it in the way we did was fantastic. I think we were helped a bit by Brighton already having procured the title, but a very important three points to take us back to second, a big confidence boost for us, and a psychological blow for Huddersfield.

Chuffed to bits.

They have 93 points and 3 games left. 93 + 9 = 102.

Great result today! Woot! :)

So happy - I can go out tonight relaxed and enjoy myself.

Connolly is always going to make an impact - and Fonte winner just icing on the cake!

Huddersfield will be gutted - just as they think they put us under pressure we pull out a result like that.

Big game Monday afternoon - and hopefully another 3-points.

COYS!!!

I'm not even sure that Huddersfield will be gutted, we were always the favourites for 2nd place since we beat Bournemouth.A minor hitch at Rochdale won't really have changed

that. They just need to get their play-off campaign together now and not get beaten by Bournemouth in the first round.

Cocks. I was looking at the Saints Player 'live' table, which hadn't refreshed all afternoon.

Ah well, we still beat them and haven't lost to them this season, proving who the better team of the two are.

They similarities between this and the Bournemouth build up is amazing

They both got overly excited with themselves

They both created a rivalry that doesnt really exist.

They both got turned over in their own backyard.

Only difference is Bournemouth players and staff were sporting about it all :)

Bournemouth.....the classier seaside resort !!!

I also thought Fonte had scored an own goal for a while until the commentator said "snatched a vital win for Southampton".

Me too. I had to pause until l celebrated. But when I did, all my kids started crying in the back of my car as they thought something was wrong with me. The price you pay for 3 crucial points.
