The knob on SSN just said Peterborough could have gone 3rd today. What is it with presenters/commentators being a bit sh!t.

Granted if hudds lost they could but wasnt down to boro losing.

If they had won and Huddersfield had lost they would have !!

aha - you changed your post and realised your mistake :-D

I love all the optimism. I don't think we will get anything from the Brighton game, and we we all be sweating on the remaining four games. It's the Saints way. We don't do easy!

in the past i would have agreed with you, but think we will win tomorrow, irrespective of Poyet trying to stir his players I think they will not be up for it now they are passed the post.

89 mins of keep the ball and then score with our only attack, bore them like they did us

Make no mistake, Huddersfield will take great heart from their result today. It was a great win, under pressure, away to a top 6 side.

The downside for them is that they know we "only" have to win 4 of our last 5 games to guarantee promotion. That's only if they win all 3 of their remaining games, including a trip to Brighton.

I really wanted them to drop points today but it's still in our hands. It sickens me that they only had 3 shots on goal.

Watch Walsall too. We don't a relegation/promotion dog fight on the last day.

2 games in hand, Brighton away and Plymouth away, and a better goal difference is a better position to be in than Town's, especially as they also have Brighton away. If we win one of this weekends games, we'll still be in the box seat even if Town win both of theirs. After Wilkins spell in charge if you had said, beat Plymouth, Brentford and Wallsal and you're up, everyone would have taken it.

Looks good on paper as you say but this is Saints and unfortunately we have lost to all three this season already! Still think we will win at brighton as we did at Norwich last year! We play better against good teams! it is also the saints way!

What we don't want (as Dave would say) is Plymouth getting some vague notion that they can still escape relegation.I just wouldn't want to go there with them having that idea.

Trouble is after today's result that they might just fancy it.

That depends. If they only need a draw to stay up, they'll park the bus (bad). But if they need to win it would open them up and it would be to Saint's advantage (unless the buggers score an early goal and then park the bus :D).

Plymouth still have hope, but hopefully that will be gone by when we play them. If we beat Brighton tomorrow I can see Poyet fielding youngsters in their game against Huddersfield, I'm sure they're trying to go unbeaten at home this season but if that's gone then they really have nothing to play for.

A draw would be a good result tomorrow, but I'd be delighted with a win. Brentford and Hartlepool have nothing to play for so we really should win those.

Whatever happens this is going down to the Walsall game now.

trouble is I'm not really convinced that we can beat a full Brighton side with the players we're likely to have available tomorrow.Greer is still suspended, that's a bonus because they're less solid without him. It depends whether Lallana is available or not and NA was a bit cagey about that in his pre-match piece.

At the end of the day, you can always find reasons for matches being tough. Town have daggers on Monday, if that was us we'd be moaning about them being in a relegation dog fight. At the end of the day, this is the best time to play Brighton,Harlepool played today and again on Monday(with a thinner squad than ours) , Plymouth play a local Derby against Exeter the Saturday before we play them. If we dont make it, it'll be down to the start we had, not because Brighton wanted 100 points or Walsall needed a draw to stay up.

Brilliant. Thought they'd both win. Now a two horse race IMO. And to be honest, being 3rd might help with the mentality, or. Zero complacency.

Both have to go to Brighton too. All about Plymouth and Brentford away I think. I'd be confident if they were Saturday games.

Should we get a draw, or win, at Brighton then they will be well dischuffed and will not be letting a repeat of that happen. Hence making it a whole lot harder for Huddersfield.

Worry not though, it's still all in our hands even if we lose tomorrow.

We just need to win tomorrow simple as. We need the focus and bottle that was missing at Rochdale. Great result for Huddersfield today but in a way it tells our lads what they need to do - win. Draw doesn't help us much so we need to have a good go at them and get stuck in. Plymouth result means they can still stay up but they do have Exeter away who have a real chance of getting 6th. If the boys do their jobs and win the remaining games it takes Huddersfield out of the equation. Let's face it, we should want it more than the sides we have left and therefore I'd expect the players to win the 50/50s and get the job done. Nice to see a lack of player interviews on the OS, the talking needs to be decisive and done on the pitch. Hudds - 3 shots, 3 goals, you need to match that boys.

People said that about their games at Charlton and MK, result six points.

Tis true, today was a very important win for Huddersfield. Keeps maximum pressure on us and we have quite a few injury problems. Still a draw tomorrow should still suffice. Wish we'd played today and Huddersfield tomorrow cos we're always playing catch up.

Along with an inability to "win games of football" that were deemed games in hand over our competitors. We have had ample opportunity to overcome that abysmal start with games in hand to finish second but have not done so. But for the state of limbo after AP was sacked we might have been close to Brighton, but second place could still have been sealed with the games in hand by now.
