Guard of honour?

They really are pathetic. They spend more time trying to better us than supporting their own team. Adkins has congratulated them and the majority on here congratulated them yet their still not happy and still say we cant accept they are champions. This guard of honour business, seriously who cares about a guard of honour. I think its more they want to gloat and are annoyed we wont give them the chance to do it this way. As for the 'Amex', do they realise the stadium is nothing special? low capacity and a design that has been around for about 10 years now, yet they call it 'breathtaking', oh dear.

Interesting reading.

apparently we are bompey's traditional rival and they are our third rival (following Skates & Spuds).

It's was done quite a while ago now, I think around early 2000s (which would explain the Spurs thing). I seem to remember reading (in this or a follow up study) that, for a fair few clubs, the fans were struggling to name a second and third rival and very low response rates were recorded in these areas (I think us/P*mpey and Norwich/Ipswich were the examples given).

No fookin way would I give them a guard of honour......I'm not even in favour of shaking hands before the game, the captains should shake hands at the toss up and that's it.

All the hand shaking should be done after the game no matter what the outcome and no matter what went on during the game.

All this nicey nicey approach is not for me I'm afraid, leave the good will until after the final whistle.

I'd like to see us give Hartlepool a guard of honour today. They've been outstanding this season.

It's the least we should do after they have travelled so far, especially having to contend with bank holiday traffic.

Mick Wadsworth should be given an Achievement Award before the game for his part in the Hapless Management Team of ten years ago. Presented on the pitchside by Dean Wilkins.

Huddersfield Town will give Brighton & Hove Albion guard of honour Southampton didn't

HUDDERSFIELD Town will give champions Brighton a guard of honour before Saturday’s big League I match at the Withdean.

Seagulls boss Gus Poyet, whose runaway leaders clinched the title by winning 3-1 at Walsall two weeks ago, was annoyed Southampton didn’t accord his players that courtesy before their clash last Saturday.

"In Valencia, with Real Madrid, you saw the way you should receive the champions," said Poyet, whose side are 11 points clear at the summit.

Town manager Lee Clark, who is aiming to pip Southampton to the second automatic promotion spot alongside Brighton, confirmed: "We will give Brighton a guard of honour because I believe it’s the right thing to do.

"They are worthy champions. The league table doesn’t lie and they have been the most consistent team in the division. They’ve won lots of games and scored lots of goals and all credit to them.

"It’s not down to me to tell any other manager how to do their job, but as someone who likes watching football, the way Gus sends his team out is the way I like to see football played."

hmmmm....Huddersfield trading with BHA? A Guard of Honour for a victory....?

Pathetic Lee. Get your tongue out of Poyet's arse. Last game you had against them you were taking this p*ss at the final whistle for their card waving gestures.

Does this include the way Gus sent out his players to play football against us at St Marys? And presumably not the only time they have played like that this season. Odd to say that is the sort of football you like to watch - it was disgusting!!

For anyone who thinks Brighton will be up for this game and looking to leave the Withdean on a high......think again :-(

LOL. This is where we see how 'professional' Poyet's team are. My guess is that Brighton will throw the game; which basically says it all for me. Huddesfield win at 2/1;lump on it. Also double this up with for the 'Alpine' bet with Brentford to win at 4/1 you should get £300 back from a twenty.

Now as bets have been taken on this game wouldn't it be sort of illegal if Brighton threw it? Could anyone found to be involved get some sort of

judicial punishment. If the bookies are offering 2/1 on Huddersfield winning and they could show in any way that Brighton had thrown the game then

they'd appeal to the Football League I guess. Brighton won't throw the match because that would be match fixing but they probably won't worry if they win or not.
