Car radio Reception

All of a sudden cant pick up AM on the car radio, Solent has gone missing, Radio 2 is a bit fuzzy but can pick up Breeze etc good as gold

 

Any suggestions pl?

Yes, Ive noticed that I cant get R5 properly now. I think the beeb are trying to get us all used to the idea of getting DAB, so are powering down the fm and am signals.

 

Thing is, in my ancient bmw the radio is designed specifically for the car so I cand just by a digital, unless theres an adaptor of some kind?

Check your aerial feeds. Can you get other stations? They normally use the rear heater element as an aerial an there's sometimes an amplifier in the boot lid with a large ferrite inductor. After repeated lid slammings this can come away from the board thus losing the signal.

I have noticed that occasionally Radio 5 has a clicking noise every 10 seconds or so or loses signal for a micro-second, its bloody annoying and only happens on Radio 5.

Best xmas present the wife has ever bought me. Planet Rock on all day, unless there is a match on when its R5Live in crystal clear quality. Only downside is Solent broadcast the blue filth on digital when they are playing.
