My night at the PFA Awards with Davis, Lallana, Harding & Fonte

Last night I was fortunate enough to be the only external journalist allowed access to the Professional Footballers’ Association Player of the Year award. Yeah, not sure how I managed it either.

As great as it was to interview Messrs Bale and Wilshere, first and foremost I am a Southampton man. One that is proud (if not a tad surprised) to see FIVE players in the official League One team of the season.

So after competing official business I grabbed a word with all Saints' award winners other than Alex Chamberlain, who did not attend the event. On the link below you will find my Q&As with Kelvin Davis, Adam Lallana, Dan Harding and Jose Fonte.

Quite interested to read Lallana's interview

He said that when the new manager came in 'he took a while to convince everyone'

Not surprised. They were probably angry about Pardew.

A good read Saint Peach and even better blag to get into the event. How'd you manager that?

I also saw that Henry Winter gave you a name-check. You've arrived mate.

So when you're old and cynical and sitting around a breakfast table in a Sky TV studio on a Sunday morning, tearing at croissants and drinking orange juice with Brian Woolnough, remember to wear your colours!

Good stuff.

Cheers saintbletch. It was not so much as a blag, more that I was asked by my editor to go & then I realised we were the only media organisation accredited! Was a cool night and I promise to always wear a red tie if I ever get on the box.

Why was Oxo not there???

Chamberlain was not there due to his foot being in a boot, according to Kelvin. He said he tried to persuade him but I guess he couldn't so Richard Chaplow went instead.

I think I saw Oxo this afternoon. He was in the cab behind me driving towards Port Solent. Does he live in Portsmouth? I guess his dad probably does?

Did he collect his award or something, that glory hunter.

Cheers peachy. Good read and I like jose's idea of being back there next year. Is he planning on being in the championships team of the season too? ;)

I did pull him up on that. Positive of promotion.

Actually it says "he had a while to convince the lads", not that he TOOK a while... that's a comment on the fact he was afforded time to get his ideas across, not that it was needed.

Nice job getting the interviews, btw.

Nice one Peachy. With Henry Winter's shouting your praises you could be on for a pay rise before you get poached.

Personally, I find grilled journalist tastier ;)

"It is just a lovely evening, I really enjoyed it and I will be back next year."
