Paul Scholes

If Ronney had lunged at a player like that yesterday he would have been crucified. Scholes does it and the 'tators tell us to forget because of his "brilliant" career. Yep, the bloke can play, but he has also been sent off 10 times in said "brilliant" career. In my book that says he is a clogger who can play.

The look on his face when he got the red card said it all. It was if he couldn't believe it.

Glad to see that Fergie paid the price for his players lack of discipline. Scholes, off, Rooney suspended and MoanU out of the cup. Happy days.

Also how come 5 minutes extra time became 5 mins 30 secs? Fergie time again.

If Rooney had lunged at a player like that yesterday the commentators would tell us that it was an illustration of his "enthusiasm" and "commitment".

It's cos their English and they play for Man Utd

Bloke on sky sports said school is the best player of his generation. That's 10 reds, nearly all for nasty stuff like that one yesterday.

Don't like him tbh but would still love to have him at SMS.

QUestionable that he was the best, no better tha Roy Keane to me but yes, I think most people would have liked him in their side. Just a nasty piece of work though and that should be recognised and not glossed over.

Never liked him.

TBF, must be half decent to have played for Manure for 15 years but I just don't get him.

He has one good game, everyone raves, then a dozen shyte ones, no-one mentions it.

Over rated in my opinion. And my opinion is fact.

The difference between him and Scholes is that Scholes produced it at the very highest level for well over a decade and is guilty of a few nasty tackles. Rooney on the other hand can only turn it on against the likes of West Ham and Blackburn, sleeps with prostitutes despite having a decent enough wife and mother to his kids and gets booked/sent off for dissent. Lest we not forget he miraculously escaped censure for that forearm smash. Cant remember who it was against (Blackburn maybe?). If I did that to someone on the street it would be GBH.

Wayne Rooney is not fit to lick the boots of Paul Scholes. Even now, at the start of the season before he gets burn out Paul Scholes is Man Utd's best player.

He's a football players player. Zidane rated him as best he ever played against. He invented the "Xavi" role but probably had an even better range of passing across longer distances. His touch was impeccable, he never lost possession, I really could go on.

Probably the most under-valued England player in the last 20 years. The team should have been built around him, but he either didnt play or was shunted out to the left wing. An absolute joke.

a loltastic statement. made my easter that much more special that has, i shall think of it each time i feel a bit down

he was good, he wasnt THAT good.

Comment from Xavi: Paul Scholes receives special praise: ‘In the last 15 to 20 years the best central midfielder that I have seen — the most complete — is Scholes. I have spoken with Xabi Alonso about this many times. Scholes is a spectacular player who has everything.

‘He can play the final pass, he can score, he is strong, he never gets knocked off the ball and he doesn’t give possession away. If he had been Spanish then maybe he would have been valued more.’

Zinedine Zidane on Scholes: 'It's only natural to want to select your best players and there is no doubt for me that Paul Scholes is still in a class of his own,' the former Real Madrid and Juventus midfielder told The Mirror. 'He's almost untouchable in what he does. I never tire of watching him play.

'You rarely come across the complete footballer, but Scholes is as close to it as you can get.

'One of my regrets is that the opportunity to play alongside him never presented itself during my career.'

No offence keithd but I will trust mine, Xavi and Zinedine Zidane's judgement ahead of yours. For me, the best player England has produced in my life time.

No its simply that they play for the mancs. Commentators salivating and arselicking of the mancs is not restricted to national boundaries as Vidic,Heinz etc prove.

No despite his illustrious career I would find it unpaletable to have someone from a club I've - irrationally perhaps - detested for more than a decade. Just thankful Neville retired due to injury before he dropped down the leagues.
